What ARE Ghost Ratings, anyway?
Hey--noobie question. I couldn't find any info on the help page about it. What are Ghost Ratings? How do I get a Ghost Rating? How do I know what my Ghost Rating is? How do I know what anyone else's Ghost Rating is? Many thanks.

@hellalt - Is that Euros? If so, just over $30,000 US. You need to be an attorney here. Fresh out of college and having just passed the bar, they make more than that.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
02 Nov 10 UTC
I feel like we've been over this before. Hellalt only works part-time, so $30k isn't that bad...
hellalt (70 D)
02 Nov 10 UTC
it's dollars, not euros.
I know it's 4-5 times less than you average salary but it's good enough for Greek standards.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

About how many hours per week do you work?
hellalt (70 D)
02 Nov 10 UTC
That's hard to estimate but I guess around 15-20 :P
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
02 Nov 10 UTC
Interesting, because that's what I make as a grad student. What's the cost of living like?
:o

If that's "good enough for Greek standards" and you work 15-20 hours a week, that's pretty amazing.

I don't pay rent but the average rent + house expenses + bills are around 700$ per month.
My expenses (supermarket, bills, car, going out) reach around 1000$ per month.
So I spent about 60% of what I make.

Escort/Gigalow/Private Stripper.
I'm not the typical low rent kind but I run in high society circles. Mostly mature female socialites with the occasional really old man who wants to keep his young "girlfriends" entertained. I basically run with people of a different class than myself but they're wild and quite free with their money so it's sort of like I get paid to party. I consider myself pretty lucky. Of course this career won't last for many more years as I get older but the connections I'm making mixed with my sales background should pan out nicely. I'm already working days with one of my nicer clients in her husband's company. At my current rate I think to reach upper management in the next 10 years. I'm her favourite.

I'm the pastor of a traditional church in a very small city of 15,000.
@ Ebay - Sounds much better than law school. How does one enter this business? Would you like an apprentice?

@pastoralan i'm going to be a pre-ministry major in college. but iwas wondering what other jobs can i look into along with a pastorate. i won't be getting enoguh pay to live when i start out pastoring.

Not as interesting as the gigalow but here's me:

Finishing up computer science and working part time as the IT guy at a maritime simulator (a place pilots come to train).
Challenging as hell, and interesting, but not as fun as it sounds; it hadn't got any TLC for years before I arrived, so it's always on the verge of screwing up while we're trying to show it off, and the rate of improvement is painfully slow.

Just spent all night doing the first draft of their website (unreal that a simulator company didn't have one until now)

The pay isn't too bad, but I find myself putting in loads of work into it outside of hours just to keep my head above water. If it pans out it'll be awesome, if not it'll all have been for nothing (and the amount I put into it will play a big part, which is unnerving).

But for the chance of staying away from a gray cubicle it's worth a go :-(
Draugnar (0 DX)
03 Nov 10 UTC
Ah, but Kestas... Grey cubicles lead to cubicles on outside walls with windows which sometimes lead to cubicles with views which lead to offices (meh ont he view) which lead to offices with a view.

Best office I ever had was 15x12, all mine, with cathedral ceilings and a view of the woods. It was in an old mansion in Mt. Auburn.

Best view I ever had was actually from a cubicle. I had two cubes as the IT guy for Pep, one was an equipment staging cube and the other was my private work area set behind it. Corner cube with a panoramic view from the 17th floor of the Cincinnati Riverfront sweeping from P&G plaza all the way to Great American Ballpark. I could see the river and Newport on the Levee. Simply incredible. If it weren't for another skyrise, I would have had a great view of the Labor Day fireworks.

So don't diss cubes so quick. They can turn into more and better things in time.

I have a history degree, and I'm certified to teach social studies 7-12 grades, which is my ideal job. I'm also studying for special education.

Until I can find something better, I work as a teacher's aide at a special needs school. I get spit on, whined at, punched, and bitten for about 11+ dollars an hour. Lucky for me, the people I work with are a lot of fun.

Fascinating post, I've always wondered who my Diplomacy opponents (and potential opponents) are in real life :)

I do background checks on federal contractors. Nowhere near as exciting as it sounds though lol.

And if I had the looks for it, I'd rather do Ebay's job, haha ;-) Not saying I'm ugly by any means, but probably not up to what his clients would be willing to pay for lol

Interesting game concept
I was of starting a world war one style game with pre-set alliances and was wondering if anyone was interested. Im thinking it would have to be live though, because I have a convention later this month and dont want to have to pause. Im up for discussion about the allliances though, I just said world war 1 because that would easiest to come up with alliances, but as long as there are two "about equal" teams. im happy. Anyone interested?
