With A Map In Hand, How Do You Program That Into A Webdip-Viable Board?
Besides my Middle East one, which is obviously easy to get a map for, I have a new one I'd like to make.

I would like, being the nerd I am, a Star Trek variant, with the Federation, Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians, the Dominion, Bajorans, and Borg... oh yes, I AM a Trekker nerd, but come on, Trek is perfectly suited to Dip (and the Middle EAst DEFINITELY IS!) ;)

Do you help someone solo a WTA game or...
fight the solo and risk two game-long enemies eliminating you, thus rewarding them with a three-way draw?:

Why would Austria ever attack Italy first?
After being the victim of this mind-boggling attack thrice in a row between here and the Facebook Diplomacy app, I feel compelled to ask. The Italian attack on Austria is risky, but justifiable, particularly if Italy can convince Turkey to focus on Russia... but I cannot for the life of me find an advantage to Austria *initiating* the attack. Responding to a stab, sure. But starting the fight?

Why so little interest in a live World map?
I've seen at least three attempts to get a live world game going (counting the one I've been advertising for the past two days), and I'm a little surprised how little interest there is. Seems like it'd be great fun especially since there is no default strategy ingrained for each nation. So, why so little interest? And if there is interest, when would people be willing to set that up?

Rules Question...
I am playing Austria in the game "Hello Everyone!" In the Spring 1902 I attempt to move into Budapest from Trieste with support from Serbia and Rumania. The Italian player's army in Budapest attempts to move into Trieste with support from Venice. I know that armies cannot cross paths (i.e. move into each other's locations). But as far as I can tell I have overwhelming force (3 vs. 2). Can someone explain why my move did not succeed?

Soccer Haters = Terrorists
A bit simplistic, but...

Members of a militant Islamic rebel group are scaling fences and bursting into homes so they can catch people in the act of watching the tournament. The leaders of Hizbul Islam have forbidden Somalis to watch the games, but some people in a community 30 miles south of Mogadishu risked the group's wrath by setting up makeshift satellite dishes. Hizbul Islam responded by raiding homes on Sunday and Monday, arresting dozens and killing two. "We are warning all the youth of Somalia not to dare watch these World Cup matches," a Hizbul Islam spokesman said. "It is a waste of money and time and they will not benefit anything or get any experience by watching mad men jumping up and down." As a result, Somalis are "flocking" to government-run neighborhoods in Mogadishu, where movie theaters are broadcasting the World Cup to packed houses.

I suppose it's another case of Glen Beck siding with radical Islamists.

Wow, I thought for sure this was going to be an ad for a live game with a title like that.

PS: I don't think the equals sign means what you think it does.

Don't quite get your point? One group of militants are stopping people watching football?

As an aside,
"It is a waste of money and time and they will not benefit anything or get any experience by watching mad men jumping up and down."
Doesn't sound like football to me :S

I've seen how wild those celebrations can get. Maybe they fear the riots over who won the game.

Don't be silly. Girls can't play football. They're far more likely to play that gentle game where you try and hit a ball with a round bat. The one where nothing really happens so they can't get over excited...
Ebay (966 D)

Cricket? Do they always play to a draw in that game too? If so then I have to watch it because the best thing about football is watching all the excitement of two teams running back and forth for a couple of hours and then at the end no one wins. That is such a manly game. I'm so glad that they've at least got men cheerleaders jumping up and down now. Maybe one day they'll get a chance to play it too. We can always hope.
