Paused games
Is there anyway to force a player to unpause a game? I am in a game where a player paused the game over 2 weeks go as soon as it went bad for his country. HNone of his other games are paused just the one.

league bets
anyone want to bet virtual money on who will advance or be demoted in the leagues. it's too early to tell definitively, but it would be fun, as long as it doesn't devolve into commenting on ongoing games or some other metagaming.

"Greatest" Philosopher (2 Categories, See Below)
It's a silly thing to "name" one the greatest, there are at least 10 titans of thouht who could easily all claim the title of "Geatest Philosopher" but anywhoo...... it's fun. :D

So, 2 categories, Mental (ex. Kant, Descartes, Kierkegaard) and Political (Locke, Hobbes, Marx) and off we go.......

fist in the middle makes no sense. russia is not a central country.

aut&tur should be known as "the turkish solo victory alliance".

*Well Known Alliances*

"better jugglenaut" . ( R/A )
"the turkish solo victory alliance" . ( A/T )

The G/R should be called the Kaiczar which is an amalgamation of Kaiser and Czar. Alternatively, Kaitsar would work since romanization is an inexact process.
EdiBirsan (1469 D(B))

In naming at this stage of the hobby, simplicity is preferred and many of these are already referenced in other sources. I would also echo staying away from the names of current actual openings that are in vogue, such as Lepanto, Sealion, etc. since any article on the fundamental alliance structure should (MUST) expound upon multiple openings and their functional relationships tactically, strategically and diplomatically.
You might take a look at the series of 2 articles I wrote on the play of Italy that was featured on the Avalon Hill boards as an example.

If I may make some suggestions on the pairs
R-T commonly called the Juggernaut
I-T the Unholy Alliance
E-F commonly called the Western Alliance
G-I the Axis
ER The Northern Alliance
AT The hardest alliance on the board
IT the Mediterranean Corkscrew
AI Austro-Italian

As for the triples:
EFG Western Triple
AIR the air alliance
RAT The rat Alliance
AGI The Central Alliance

I almost want to pitch alliances solely on the words that they spell. EAT, TAG, FAT, FATE, RAFT, RIFT, GIFT, TIRE, RATE, GATE, AFTER, GREAT. There are lots more, and some of them are less than tasteful... =)

I feel like Austria Hungary should be part of Axis. They were more Fascist than most Italians. Austria was part of Nazi Germany (mostly willingly), Croatians were the fascist Yugoslavs and the Hungarians were Fascist allies of Germany.

G/R - the German - Russian alliance: "The Spearhead"
explanation - the combined territories of Russia and Germany look like a spearhead lodged into Europe's heart, and make a pretty good team.
