Live games
I'm sure this has previously been talked about but these forums make no sense to me so not sure how to search.

How is it possible to find a live game with 6 others players that will actually play? Because it takes me something like 10-20 attempts to get one decent game.

Checking game set up - NMR
I want to set a game so that it never processes a turn with out orders. I think that is setting “Turn” = 0.
But if I set “Delay”= 2 does that mean a two day/phase pause before that player is kicked? Or is he kicked immediately and there are 2 days for a replacement to appear. In the latter case what happens after the 2 days?

Plastic in our fishies
Like wtf is dis man? Why we eatin plastic. This is dumb. Fix dat.
Ogion (3882 D)
20 Dec 17 UTC
Fat chance. Too many are too unconcerned with their impacts on anyone else and the plastic industry gets rich.

Why would anyone stop polluting the shit out of the oceans, just because it ends up poisoning everything and destroying much of the life there and poisoning the food that comes out?
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

The worst impacts come from your washing machine that take small fibers off your cotton clothes and drains them them directly into the sewer system.

Eh, our water's ruined at this point. Too much estrogen, too much plastic, too much general waste in it.
Wusti (757 D)

bo sox - cotton is at least a natural fibre, plastics used in packaging are not.

Uranium is all natural too, doesn't mean you should eat it. Fish, turtles, seabirds, and whatever else can all choke on cotton fibers and unlike plastics (especially if microplastics actually go away), those fibers come off in such small pieces that they're easy for most sea creatures to eat.
Claesar (4660 D)

Wusti, that sounds like it makes sense, but it doesn't. Some of the worst poisons in the world are natural. Besides, the particles that come off clothing are synthetic... Bo is correct that washing machines contribute siginificantly to the problem.

Another large problem is people throwing their plastic (or other waste) anywhere but in the waste bin. People like you and me. How to fix this?

We need more plastique in our fisheries.
Yeah, this is a huge problem. Some nations are starting to take small steps, like banning plastic bags (Kenya, recently, I think). The Western countries contribute to this, but now it's mostly the third world that is the problem.
Ogion (3882 D)
20 Dec 17 UTC
Actually, bo, no it isn't the cotton, it's the polyester and other synthetics that do that Cotton is a non issue because it degrades

However, plain trash is the worst issue. And it is not just a third world issue, though that's a bigger contributor

Well, acidification and climate change are the worst, but that's a separate issue
shigzeo (1080 D)

The third world contribute far less waste by many factors than does the first world. No comparison.

"Eh, our water's ruined at this point. Too much estrogen, too much plastic, too much general waste in it."

Yeah, so just fuck it. Screw the EPA. No need to protect the environment. Frack 'em all and let God sort 'em out. We should accept our fate and just go to hell in a handbasket.

We have a tax on plastic bags in the UK which has drastically cut their use. Banning microbeads in shampoos and shower gels is the next big thing currently going through.

Not that that will make much difference. Need to develop an evolutionary ability to consume plastic.

morality v behavior
I'm going to make some initial statements that I believe to be true. I'm going to make some threads with varying forms of thought with regards to those statements.

what I'm looking for is people's opinions on which threads can be expanded upon, or if I'm missing some key threads. this is all a quick draft though so don't expect it to be entirely comprehensive

dislodging a convoy
I've asked this before, and I know I should know, but: what does it take to dislodge a convoy? if one unit attacks a convoying unit does the convoyed unit arrive at its destination, or stay where it started? Does it take two units, a move and a support, which would give the area to the dislodging units? Please explain.
