"Point is, this is a currency not controlled by governments, not regulated by banks that leaves only one source of power: cartels, mafia, and criminal organizations."

Isn't the USD the number one currency for illegal dealings?

"Frankly, I think this will make for a great case study in just how far the market can speculate until a crash occurs."

Speculate on something that hardly can even be considered to exist, no less.

When's it going to burst lol.
Let's bet some bitcoin on it.

back we say "bubble"?
This is definitely speculator-driven. I think there's real demand for these currencies that has driven a real increase in the USD : Bitcoin exchange rate, but the current jumps are surprisingly high even for that.

You don't just gain $5k in value in 48 hours and not be speculation driven

Actually it's currently crashing and has lost more than $1000 in half an hour, there's the volatility of cryptocurrency for you

is this the final crash? or are we still going to see some upward movement??? here we go...
Fluminator (1500 D)
08 Dec 17 UTC
Yep, I've been playing it for the last hour or so. It's currently dropped quite a bit over the evening. To think it's a final crash is a bit premature.

If people have bitcoin and want to try to make a few quick bucks, keep buying litecoin with bitcoin and go back and forth between them. It's a lot less risky than going between bitcoin and cash, because the relative values between them is usually pretty consistent but still frequently changing, so if you're patient you can just wait to buy cheap and then sell when it's up.
That's been my evening and it's worked pretty well for me so far.

actually weeks.

maybe months. WHEN WILL IT END???
Fluminator (1500 D)

I don't know. I'm scared to go to bed because I want to sell before it crashes lol.

Like when I wake up it might be 20000 or 0, I have no idea.
This is so exciting.
I'll keep webdip updated because I'm sure they're all deeply interested.

Bitcoin will be traded on the futures market soon by institutions. It's price will skyrocket when that happens. Hold your coins.

@JK

I noticed that... by the 10th I think.

interestingly enough, shares in ETFs are fairly commonly used as collateral, and if people start getting careless and using bitcoin-based funds as collateral... well, they'll have a nice play to set them right next to their tulip bulbs, if you understand what I mean.

it could also turn this bubble from a fun thing to watch grow, to a legitimately serious problem for our financial system - not just Russia and china where it's been growing big

Money is worth less when it can be easily stolen. It's not like you can hide your bit coins under your mattress to keep it safe.

The Wall Street Journal ran a humor piece about all the bit coin holders that can remember their security codes to cash out. Or no longer can get to the file because it got deleted for more important information. Best one is the guy paying to excavate a garbage dump to find his old laptop computer with then 10 million dollars in bit coins.

Yeah so the other week my wealthy boss asks me to explain to him what BitCoin even is. Then the following week he buys a bunch because his wealthy friend also bought some.

Remember the prognosticators who said that the real estate bubble couldn't possibly be a bubble because there's no way to create more real estate?

"It's not like you can hide your bit coins under your mattress to keep it safe."

Uh yes you can. Write down public address, write down pass phrase, put paper under mattress. --> Bitcoins are save under your mattress

The dip is over I think. Now is the best time to buy in. It went 2 times shortly under 9k euros but quickly regained back to 11k

There are two different views I see "experts" taking.

The optimistic view is, before now a very large % of bitcoin was held by a small group of people, and before the new years a lot of them cashed out flooding the market. (Before new years is the time they do it for tax reasons or something?) It's now set to be even more stable as it's more distributed among people.

The pessimistic view is this the bear trap before the final increase and crash.

Live games
I'm sure this has previously been talked about but these forums make no sense to me so not sure how to search.

How is it possible to find a live game with 6 others players that will actually play? Because it takes me something like 10-20 attempts to get one decent game.

Checking game set up - NMR
I want to set a game so that it never processes a turn with out orders. I think that is setting “Turn” = 0.
But if I set “Delay”= 2 does that mean a two day/phase pause before that player is kicked? Or is he kicked immediately and there are 2 days for a replacement to appear. In the latter case what happens after the 2 days?

morality v behavior
I'm going to make some initial statements that I believe to be true. I'm going to make some threads with varying forms of thought with regards to those statements.

what I'm looking for is people's opinions on which threads can be expanded upon, or if I'm missing some key threads. this is all a quick draft though so don't expect it to be entirely comprehensive

dislodging a convoy
I've asked this before, and I know I should know, but: what does it take to dislodge a convoy? if one unit attacks a convoying unit does the convoyed unit arrive at its destination, or stay where it started? Does it take two units, a move and a support, which would give the area to the dislodging units? Please explain.
