I did put in orders the whole way through, so it can't be that.

My last two orders were "hold," but I put that in and clicked on "Ready."

@Yellowjacket: why assume the worst? Ignorance and coming up with baseless conclusions are very closely related.

We assume the worst because you joined a month ago and seem to think that there is some bug in the system that no one has uncovered in the previous 133,883,679 pages served (see the bottom of the page for where that number came from). In reality, there's 100% chance that it was user error and you missed retreat, build, or movement phases.

Are you one of the developers Mapu? I'm more likely to think that the routine just looks to see if the last two orders were Hold. I joined a month ago, that is true, but I have never quit a game or gone into CD. There are, in fact, some very minor errors in the system. For example, destroying armies when no order is given does not follow the rules found in the FAQ. This system is very well done, indeed, but few systems are infallible.

I can tell you for a fact that I did not miss any phase whatsoever.

How do you know how destroys work if you don't give an order if you entered all your orders?

I believe you, acorn, just from tone. Not that the system messed up, but that you weren't just being a deeker and abandoning games. My advice is to always double check after you "think" you saved or readied. There are gremlins out there, and the orders we swear we entered don't always seem to come out that way.

It is a rather unusual issue, but I can confirm at least that acornist is a decent chap and I have every confidence his description is accurate.

I find Mr. Acorns to be a little ... um... squirrelly.

I have actually personally experienced the same issue acornist is talking about here. But it was about two years ago, I was still sitting there just ordering holds and looking at the game as two other powers (who turned out to be a multi later) finished me off in a live game. Then I saw that when the game ended it listed me as resigned. If I have the time I will try to find the gameid here in a second.

We'll have no more of that blatent acornism from you.

Still though keep in mind that this was less than a week after I had joined the site, so don't judge me ;)

If you had simply reported that obvious multi, you'd have had yourself a solo instead..

There is, I believe, a bug where if you don't enter orders the last phase before the game ends, you are marked as resigned. I don't remember exactly how to trigger it, but it has been reported in the past. I don't know if it was ever fixed.

@Hellenic Riot: Only rarely do I use a phone or tablet. I prefer to enter orders on the desktop (especially when I should be working instead). I can't say for a fact that I didn't enter any orders on a phone in this game.

@Mapu: I saw how "destroy without orders" worked in another game. I was not the one failing to issue a destroy order.

It was supposed to be in alphabetical order for units equidistant from home centers. The units are, however, named by their unit first. Thus A Livonia comes before F Black Sea alphabetically an error that apparently persists despite over 100 million happy pages served.

And, yes, I am squirrelly to be sure.

Well yeah bo you are correct, but I was a player who had played less than a week at that point.. I didn't realized that was probably a multi back then.

The FAQ states:
"◦It's done as the DATC recommends: It's the furthest from your home supply centers. Distance is defined as the smallest number of moves to get from the unit's position to a home supply center. When calculating the smallest number of moves armies can move across seas, but fleets can only move across seas and coasts. If there are two units both the same distance from a home supply center the territory which is first alphabetically is removed first."
The FAQ explanation misses out a key element of the decision, namely 'if equidistant, Fleets before Armies, then alphabetical'.
Therefore F BLA gets disbanded before A Lvn.
