Sky if Faling...Or Not...
Geee...the Liar in Chief Obama, after telling us how horrifying Sequester would be...er...well, maybe not so much. And how many of *you* bought his lies hook, line and sinker? (I can name a few...)

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/feb/28/obama-says-sequesters-might-not-be-felt-right-away/
krellin (80 DX)

...and the truth is that even after 4 weeks...2 months...3 months...most will never know sequester happened.

This isn't new. Obama has been saying we wouldn't immediately feel the effects all week.
krellin (80 DX)

No, he has his cabinet officials carrying the water for him this week. and please don't insult and pretend that they are not doing this on his orders...

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/feb/24/obama-cabinet-warnings-sequestration-impact

and anyway...so, what...you are impressed that last week he was issues grave, dire warnings and this week he has had his come to Jesus moment and backed off?

I would think even the most staunch of supporters would be utterly repulsed by such blatant lies and politicking.

What do you think of the Bob Woodward "incident"?

"The White House is threatening a presidential veto of a Senate Republican measure that would give President Barack Obama more authority and flexibility to find $85 billion in spending cuts this year. The measure is intended to replace the automatic across-the-board cuts scheduled to kick in Friday."

So even when offered a scalpel so as to remove the "meat cleaver" approach, he says he will veto the measure.

In other words, pure, unadulterated politics. Obama *wants* the "pain" so he can blame the Republicans for *his* plan being implemented.

You people. You claim that you want to see this idealistic democracy/ republic restored to whatever fantasy version you think the founders intended, yet you constantly take digs at your president with little slurs like "liar in chief." What do you think you're teaching your children, krellin? That they must respect you and mummy but it's okay to disrespect the most powerful man in the world? You're an adult. Respect the POTUS, even if you disagree with him.

@dubmdell +1 I'm a former Marine (eons ago) and I have not especially liked or agreed with every President that has been in office in my lifetime. But the entire culture has changed and now it seems "OK" to show disrespect toward the man that was elected by a majority to run this country. It is just bad manners and shows a lack of common courtesy and respect.

@krellin Also, I went to the site that you referenced. The exact quote is:

"Republicans floated their own plan to give Obama more flexibility to find $85 billion in spending cuts this year. Democrats and tea party Republicans killed that plan Thursday."

A bit different than what was presented as fact. So please, if you are going to reference an article in the future, try to actually use the quote from that article. Not one that is made up.

Sorry, but that's always been the case. Read a newspaper from the 19th or even late 18th century. It's pretty hair-raising how they talked about the President, sometimes. It may be rude, but it's almost never absent in a healthy democracy
jimgov (219 D(B))

Sorry, but I know what I see. If you are old enough to remember what life was like before the internet, then you will know how much it has changed. Although the newspapers from the 18th / 19th century are still considered media, they were not operating under the same types of media rules that we take for granted now. They were just mouthpieces for the opposition.

Go back and see what a major deal it was when Sam Donaldson interrupted President Reagan. Now, fast forward to when Neil Munro interrupted President Obama during his press conference. Donaldson's take can be found at:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/16/sam-donaldson-tucker-carlson-daily-caller-obama-interrupted_n_1602526.html

The internet has given the masses a forum now to say anything they want without fear of an ass kicking. I know that this will make me sound like a very old man, but when I was much younger and you said something remarkably rude, stupid and socially unacceptable, you were in for an ass kicking. That's how you learn "Gee. Maybe I should keep my incredibly stupid thoughts to myself." Now, forum's exist so that people can say anything they want without fear of that same ass kicking. Sure, the new freedom of expression has many benefits. But there are many changes that have been for the worse.

The Great Debate: Mujus, Crazy Anglican, Nigee, semck, SC vs. My Fellow Atheists?
It seems as if we have a new wave of vocal and talented Christian thinkers, who certainly seem as willing as I to type on the matter, albeit from the other end--so, care to debate, say, 2-4 Christians vs. the same # of Atheists, on a thread w/ a neutral moderator, we each give an opening statement in succession (say, 500-1000 words or less), one rebuttal per person, and then open it up for questions, side with the most +1s for their comments "wins?"

Sexist Pig, Re-Heated Family Guy Leftovers, or Fresh New Take--McFarlane as Oscars Host?
http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/closeread/2013/02/seth-macfarlane-and-the-oscars-hostile-ugly-sexist-night.html So the reviews for the Aesthete Super Bowl known as the Oscars are in...and pretty much it's an even split, some loving the job Seth McFarlane did and others, like Ms. Davidson here, finding his turn as Oscar host incredibly offensive...and "misogynistic" seems to be the chief complaint against him--agree with that, disagree...your take?

Potential Multi Issue
I'm new to website after playing a few IRL games, and my housemate who also works at the same place as me is probably thinking about joining. However, I know there are issues relating to people using multiple accounts, and if that's done by IP address is will most likely look like both our accounts are the same person's.
What's the best way for us to avoid this, or who should I contact to discuss it further?
Thanks!

Are you the one who will rule the world?
For the easy payment of 15 D, you can enjoy the chance to rule the world with The World Wide Schlieffen Plan ( http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=111246 ) . If you can take 10 minutes out of you day for possible world domination, than this deal is for you. In fact this deal is just to good. I'm gonna have to put a time limit of 7 days for this. I would wait that long though. there's only 13 spaces left.

Looking for some advice. My wife says I should wash second-hand clothes before I wear them, in case there are bugs or something in them. But is that going far enough? What if there are demons in my "new" corduroys? Should I exorcise them first? Pat Robertson says better safe than sorry.

Michelle Obama presents Best Picture Award
Cult of personality much? Can the Obamas refrain from inserting themselves into every damn corner of American life? Who thought this was a good idea--among both the White House staff and the Oscars producers? Can we leave politics out of anything? Why were military personnel used as props in a banal entertainment industry awards program?

Seriously, how is this not creepy and inappropriate?
