Electrical Engineering
Yes, I would most likely do something along the lines of material science/nano electronics, as that's what my MS was in (Modeling nanoelectronic structures).
@Thucy
The real problem is that the US, as a whole, hates educators. Not really sure why, but it's about as ingrained as our love of guns. In another country, I wouldn't be having this problem at all, but I think it behooves me to consider the reality of where I will work when making my education decision.

1) I would be doing research. In education, not engineering. And, since that's what I'm more interested in (on a PhD level), that seems to make more sense.
2) Not much. I would spend most of my time as an RA. If I'm lucky, I'd TA for 3-6 classes during my 3-4 years in school.
3) Yup.
4) You're point? If I get a PhD in education I will have also published papers.
5) I guess it's a question of whether it's better to network with educators or engineers.
6) Sure, but at the moment, there isn't anything in EE that interests me enough to *start* a PhD.
7) Yeah, I know. But why would I get a degree in something I know I don't really want, when there's a more applicable degree available?
@krellin
Yeah, no thanks. My interest in cars in next to zero.
