I had a WEIRD Christmas in that I had a good one...and actually got "major" gifts.

We don't usually get major gifts at Xmas, with Hanukkah usually before (especially me, as my birthday's just a few days after) and yet everyone got major gifts this year...

Among other things I got the Complete Sherlock Holmes in two paperback volumes, tea, another black blazer, and an iPod Touch (which I'm trying to figure out now...my little iPod Shuffle was so serviceable, no displays, just buttons and room for about 100 classical music pieces, operas, ball games and lectures...and here's this thing that's 8 GB, has all these gizmos, and that's fine, no techno-phobe...but I feel like I should be putting that thing to good use, but I HAVE most of my music on the little iPod Shuffle already, lol.)

And then there's the matter of trying to get the iPod to connect to the TV so the old ball games (you know, ones where the Mets actually WIN) that I get on iTunes for 1.99 can display on a 45-inch screen, not just the little 3-inch display of the phone...

New and old... She has had seizures for decades but they have been well controlled by her meds until recently. I am.thinking the pain from her spinal stenosis and stuff is stressing her subconciously and so the meds aren't working as well. We will be setting an appointment to see her neurologist and he will probably adjust it up a bit.

I got a gift that actually made me tear up. My father was sick with cancer for about two years and he loved to go fishing. We were fishing in the north sea several times on one particular boat. We always wanted to do it again but with his sickness and declining condition we were unable to do it.
He died on the 19th this month but not before reserving a slot for me and my girlfriend on this particular boat to go out in early april. I am almost crying while writing this. Best present.

That is a great present and untoppable. All ours pale in comparison although I did juat get one from a coworkers that puts my humidor to shame. My company has a very small garage and to keep things fair, garage spots are given out by lottery every year. One of my coworkers won a slot and knows I have a very bad new songifted it to me. I just got the email. Talk about a good guy.

@ Partysane - sorry for your loss. And what a great gift from your dad. I guess with that in mind, my best present was probably singing a trio at church with my dad and brother. As my dad starts to get up there a little bit in years these opportunities become all the more precious.
