CF, Ridley was fine, but Spiller was better in those last few weeks. I was also referring more to Wes Welker.
Yes, I ranked the players beforehand, it just didn't work out. I don't join auto draft leagues for that reason… it screws two or three people right from the beginning. In a live - or even human - draft, at least you know it was *you* that screwed you rather than a computer.
I had more moves than anyone in the league, by at least double I'm pretty sure, and I ended up 4-9. I made good moves, picked up the right guys, made a dumb trade or two, but overall, I was pretty good with the lineups and getting my max points. I just didn't have the talent that others had.
I picked up guys like C.J. Spiller and Joe Flacco early off the bat and both did great. I picked up Mikel LeShoure right when his suspension was up and he was solid. I got Brian Hartline in the week that he went off, and cut him straight after, and he never performed again. I picked up Justin Tucker as my kicker and he was much better than Mason Crosby ever was. I picked up Big Ben toward the end of the year when he came back and he did fine. I had Danny Amendola and at one point Greg Jennings, though he didn't come back so I dropped him again. I had a lot of good pick ups but I just played against stacked teams every week and I could do nothing.
By the way, if anyone asks, there were more points scored against me than any other team, another misfortune I had this year.
My first three picks were also injured at some point early in the year (Matt Forte, Andre Johnson, someone else - I forget). I ended up trading some guys around and made some good moves, but what can you do?
"The autodraft executed properly but autodrafts suck in general. Like preprogramming your first 15 moves in Diplomacy with no ability to take into account what others are doing. If you anticipate well, you might even end up in a strong position. To me, that's not fun."
That's a good analogy. Can't go to 1906 on autopilot and expect to have a good shot to win.
