And I Thought Texas Threatening Secession Was Good...
http://news.yahoo.com/pro-gun-rights-us-petition-deport-piers-morgan-130319681.html

Seriously? This is what 31,000+ people spend their time doing? Get a life… none of us are trying to deport Wayne LaPierre and he has a tad more impact than Piers Morgan.

Diplomacy world cup
I know there is a webdip specific world cup; but there has been a regular (every four year) nations world cup, for the last 8 years.

Another discussion about pauses <yawn>
I thought this topic had been disussed to death. Pauses had to be voted by everyone to apply. However, I now learn that the mods will pause a game that has six votes only if they email the 7th member and he doesn't respond. I'm happy with all 7 or 6 plus an unreplied to email rule, but would like some clarity

Good game all around… shame that Czech couldn't manage to get in on the draw but that's how it goes.

Laker, you scared me a couple of times with your semi-stalemate… was that accidental or just a lot of aggression on your part? It isn't a bad thing either way as long as it doesn't spread you out too far.

GG all. I played Germany. I mostly just chose to ally with France, once I saw he was focused on taking out England.

Good game everyone, a few comments.

1. Czech was a great ally to have propelling me forward. I was going to actually include you in the draw for your help if Tunis had fallen like it should have. But once it didn't fall, I decided I had to keep pressing for Munich and Warsaw.

2. Italy's retreat to Naples instead of Tunis was huge for me and allowed me grow quickly. I'm wonder if it was a misorder or Curtis was distracted bc he also accidentally built at Rome for the boh crusher.

I messed up quite a few moves there, Bo sox. I definitely didn't want to keep giving England life like I did. I really biffed letting Czech into Baltic early on also.

I did consider leaving Russia in, but I just figured 3WD > 4WD.

Of course I did t eliminate him from the draw. But as I was considering whether to just hit it or take Moscow...I was saying would Czech do it for me? Lol idk.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

@Gen. Lee … yeah, I really questioned that retreat. Was my first inclination to get some units in the Med quicker.

@Laker … you could have taken me early but it would have been a long, long fight and I figured you saw the juggernaut in the east, which you obviously did. I could have gone with a typical sea lion but figured England would block - he did - so had to maneuver a bit, but once you didn't attack the first time, I figured you never would.

Yeah, that turn when France could have taken Tunis by cutting Tyr kind of confused me. W. med had Tunis with N.A. Supporting it in.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Czech would have been out one way or another. You wouldn't have been able to hold a good line if you put three holds on Moscow. It was the only option.

Exactly Bo. In GB games, as a western power, I just try to ally with one of my neighbors against the other.

Yep. Same goes for the Med and the east. Sometimes I try to barricade Russia and persuade Turkey to attack him as both Austria and Italy; that's what curtis tried with the crusher. Didn't work, but it was definitely a well-timed stab and nearly worked in full.

I think I like non-anon gunboat better, helps me make better decisions when I know if my neighbor/ally has a clue or not.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
23 Dec 12 UTC
Non-anon is nice. I like knowing who is in and I like knowing who a CD is (I'm looking at you, Italy) so I can determine who has a longing to win and who simply wants to have fun (I'm still looking at you, Italy). If they want to win, they'll CD with a few centers left (I continue to look at you, Italy), but if they want to have fun and make sure everyone else can too, they will at least delay the inevitable (I'm staring and spitting at you, Italy) so that the rest of the map can develop in a way that would actually happen in the board game.

We can also weed out the "rule-benders" in non-anon. It's much more fun to know right at the beginning who to kill first ;)

My New Favorite Bible Passage
11 If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, 12 you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity.
--Deuteronomy 25:11-12 (That's quite possibly the most horrible-yet-hilarious passage I've ever read that's meant to be taken seriously...can anyone...erm, defend it? At all? If so...you're the most amazing lawyer ever.) xD
