Top 10 Cities and Locales in the Anglosphere?
Just thought I'd throw this one out there...
Taking the four most obvious nations (the US, UK, Canada and Australia) and anywhere else you see fitting in the primarily-English speaking world (not "primarily," as of course there are many Spanish speakers in the US and many French Canadians, but the nations' overall aggregate majority is titled towards an English language/culture, I think)...best cities and locations?

World Diplomacy IX Supply centers needed to win
How many supply centers are needed to win World dip IX? I mean, in a normal game it's 18 SC's, but in a world dip game I'm playing, this country has around 35 centers. So I was wondering, how many do you need?

Presidential Succession Hypothetical
Since Obama still has to actually be elected by the Electoral College still for his second term, I got to thinking about how a terribly timed resignation may screw stuff up very badly for the country someday in the future.
Invictus (240 D)

The year is 2032 and President Raul Bush has just been reelected. The Electoral College has met and voted and everything is set for inauguration day. However, the week before Christmas a sex-espionage-murder scandal is uncovered which forces the president's immediate resignation. The hugely popular but largely sidelined VP Paddy Minh was totally un-involved with the affair and assumes the presidency.

But since he was already elected to a second term would Raul have to resign again on Inauguration Day?
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

It depends on whether or not he were impeached.
Invictus (240 D)

I said resigned, moron.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

You can be impeached and still resign, moron.
Invictus (240 D)
02 Dec 12 UTC
If it's just the process of impeachment and not conviction (like Clinton) then it has no bearing at all on this. It would just be a regular resignation. Moron.

But no, Raul Bush wasn't impeached.

Who cares what happens to the would-be president of New Sichuan in 2032.
Invictus (240 D)

The he still wins and the guy elected vice president would be elevated.

But in my scenario the president stepped down willingly and would be still be eligible for the office, at least legally. Would he have to step down twice?

VP-Elect takes over and has to get a new VP approved by Congress.

There's a whole long succession plan going down through Cabinet positions which is why one lucky Cabinet member doesn't have to get bored sitting there listening to the President drone on through the State of the Union address. He or she gets to stay home and get drunk.

Lol.. thank you for answering the question. Took a bit.

In that case, I haven't got a clue.
Putin33 (111 D)
02 Dec 12 UTC
The answer is yes. The EC vote counts for the second term like a reappointment, whereas the immediate resignation would only affect the first, or so it would seem.
semck83 (229 D(B))
02 Dec 12 UTC
Yeah. The only thing that could stop it is if Congress could come up with something snazzy to do at the EC counting ceremony in early January.

"Who cares what happens to the would-be president of New Sichuan in 2032. "

Bleh, there will be no more hegemonic wars, and China is busy trying to get out of any kind of responsibilities for being a global power. Ironically, America is weakest precisely at the moment when it has overwhelming military superiority. Capabilities will become increasingly meaningless. We're all going to be in a "competition" for consumption maximization, not power expansion.

Suggestion
Get rid of the option to block messages. The game is called DIPLOMACY. You need to be able to create alliances with other players. That's why there is a diplomacy phase!

The natural outcome of a dip game is a draw
It's either a 3-way draw, or possibly 4-way, depending on the alliances. If a solo occurs, than it's because one of the players made a mistake.
