The actual result was so different from that predicted by the pollsters.
And yet the closer the media said the election was going to be the more money the candidates spent of advertising. Strange that.

51 States
I heard on the radio that there will be another non-binding vote in Puerto Rico to determine if they want to become a state. Other than the obvious problem of having a lot of out-dated flags, is there anyone who can tell me what the ramifications will be (for them as well as the current states)?

"AMERICA CHOOSES" 2012--NOVEMBER 6TH, ELECTION DAY COVERAGE

*VOTING DAY!*
Get off your sorry butts and go make a difference! Polls don't stay open forever, so don't waste this golden opportunity. It is your Civic Duty to participate in all elections, don't let your country down!

We have one for Romney right here, but what about the rest of you?
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Fuck voting. I'd rather, in the words of Samuel L. Jackson, go the fuck to sleep.
Draugnar (0 DX)
06 Nov 12 UTC
@KA - You can't vote, so Romney may have a supporter in you, but there is no vote for him in you. And why is civic duty capitalized?
MadMarx (36299 D(G))

bosox, you should move to Oregon, we get our ballots mailed to us two weeks ahead of time every election and either mail them in or drop them off... I'm usually driving mine to the drop off right before the deadline on Election Day, but I actually got motivated this year and dropped it off last night (don't think I've ever voted early enough to actually mail my ballot in)...
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

There are other reasons I'd want to move to Oregon...

As if voting weren't already completely useless seeing as we have an overriding electoral college, but look at the two options we have. Identical foreign policy. The illusion of choice is strong in this election, and perhaps more apparent then ever.

Romney by default. He's at least talking a good game about small government, whereas Obama has made no attempt to cut spending.
Fasces349 (0 DX)
06 Nov 12 UTC
I've endorsing Obama simply because I disagree with Romney to much on Military and Trade. Labbeling China as a currency manipulator = really, really, really, really, really bad idea.

Hey, Sacred Digits, have you watched any episodes of Portlandia (it's on Netflix)?
Vote Cthulhu. Why choose a lesser evil?

In addition, for tomorrow only, I have this on a badge (or button if you prefer) "Don't blame me. I voted for Bartlet"
SacredDigits (102 D)
06 Nov 12 UTC
I have not watched Portlandia. Also, I haven't been on this site for probably almost a month, but couldn't avoid the potential drama of seeing people froth on election day. So far, vaguely disappointed.

@ Fasces

What's your disagreement with Romney about the military?
Sicarius (673 D)

Here's my opinion on voting, which has been vindicated as of tonight: I don't live in a "swing state" so my vote means absolutely nothing.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Correct, Onar.
Fasces349 (0 DX)

"What's your disagreement with Romney about the military?"
We spend more money on defence then the next 17-26 (depending on the source) countries combined.

On top of that, the chief of staffs are telling congress were they want the budget to be cut, and congress isn't letting them cut the budget (as it would cost 20,000 jobs).

In a time of fiscal crisis, when a department is asking for cuts, it makes sense to cut them.

Goldfinger, I wonder whats your defence of labelling China a currency manipulator since it would clearly hurt trade and increase the prices of Chinese goods reducing consumer spending in America hurting our economy.
Draugnar (0 DX)

How is Congress being so fucked up Romney's fault? Boehner's sure, but not Romney's.
Fasces349 (0 DX)
07 Nov 12 UTC
was that directed at me?
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Nov 12 UTC
Yes, Fasces. It was.
Fasces349 (0 DX)
07 Nov 12 UTC
The point is Romney wants to expand the military budget, Congress wants to keep it the same, and I disagree with both of them.
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Nov 12 UTC
I disagree with both as well. I think a cut to only about 65-70% of the current budget would be the best choice. But your indication was that you blaimed Congresses actions on him. It's fin to disagree with his plan to increase it. But that is a different reason than you actually gave.

I've been following the US Presidential elections and I want to know what movie you think would fit this evening (evening in Europe being now). I already watched the American President and Primary Colors (during earlier election periods), what do you recommend?

Correct Me If I'm Wrong, But...
…I don't think I am.

Wasn't it the Republican party that said that Hurricane Sandy was going to decide the election by stalling Obama's campaign? If that's the case, why are they so reasonably, so honestly switching sides to gain sympathy? I mean, they've never done that before….
