The actual result was so different from that predicted by the pollsters.
And yet the closer the media said the election was going to be the more money the candidates spent of advertising. Strange that.

51 States
I heard on the radio that there will be another non-binding vote in Puerto Rico to determine if they want to become a state. Other than the obvious problem of having a lot of out-dated flags, is there anyone who can tell me what the ramifications will be (for them as well as the current states)?

This is why we do this, folks. Miracles like this. A man dies, comes back to life, and his first question is, "Did I vote?"

Input on movie about US elections
Hey Guys,
I've been following the US Presidential elections and I want to know what movie you think would fit this evening (evening in Europe being now). I already watched the American President and Primary Colors (during earlier election periods), what do you recommend?

I drew France in this game. It seems to be the country I have drawn the least, so I could use some more experience with it.

1901 - I decided to open south and position myself to take on italy. Had already planned before spring moves to convoy spain to tuscany unless england came to the channel, then I would reverse course. England opens anti-russian so I'm good to go. Build F Mar, A Paris to let england know I'm not interested in clashing. Italy has jumped Austria in 1901, so he is pretty screwed.

1902- my convoy is successful and I manage to get tunis, England and Germany begin to clash and I'm in great position.

1903 - I look to help England out and grab an extra build by hitting belgium. Unfortunately I misorder in the south which delays the capture of rome.

1904-1905 - I finish off italy, but I'm starting to count SCs. England and I very close in units but he has more space in front of him as germany/russia are still around barely, while I have turkish fleets coming my way.

1906 - I decide it has to be now of never on stabbing england. My thought was that I could stalemate the italian peninsula and take the german centers occupied by english fleets. To my surprise england didnt bounce brest - eng chan. I decided to convoy belgium to the english mainland, but this was probably the move that did in any chances at taking a solo. It left me short-changed in units in the german territories and didnt really add value to an attack on england mainland b/c he had builds coming. In hindsight I knew he would be protecting london, I should have moved to north sea and caused havoc behind enemy lines.

From there I could never mount the kind of attack I needed to gain gound on england. Every build season when I had planned to deploy a unit north, It would end up that turkey had moved forward and I would need one more unit to ensure an actual stalemate in the south.

(I was Turkey) This was a fun and challenging game. In A01, Italy moved into Austria and ignored his Tunisia build and I knew that would be good for me eventually. I also got into the Black Sea. Since Austria and Italy were mixing it up I knew there would be no Lepanto or immediate attack on me so I decided to build an army Smyrna and start hitting Seva in 02.

By S02, Italy was demolishing Austria and I thought Austria needed to live a little longer, so in A02 I supported Aegean back to Greece. That seemed to be an unfortunate tipping point for Italy as France was hitting him too. I thought after helping him survive that Austria might be a little grateful but instead he started attacking me immediately, like one of those deer that gets stuck in a river and starts kicking the rescuers.

Russia was getting hit hard by England so I was able to get to Seva and Rumania in 03 and get 2 more builds. From there for a couple of years it was a matter of getting my troops in a good position to attack Austria as it's really easy to get too spread out as Turkey and hard to get troops to the front line.

By about this time, I was starting to worry that France and England might be multi's or metas because they were working so well together. In fact, when I went back through the moves, there was a funky looking move to Holland by England in S02. Mind you, this was not a password protected game but rather an open game with a bunch of randoms. So thoughts of multi noobs was not unfounded. Fortunately, they did start attacking each other and I was glad to find out that everything was on the up and up.

Anyway, I just kept convoying armies through the Black sea, moving them up, and grinding it out until just the three of us were left.
Good game, was too happy with my trick play on AH and didn't notice france. was too out of position to correct anything.

Not sure why France stabbed Austria once I was gone, that sealed the draw as it made Turkey impossible to eliminate.

I didn't notice France either there or else I probably wouldn't have helped Austria back into Greece. That was an amazing trick move though.

Good point Lando I guess you mean "stabbed" him at venice. I tried to hold him at trieste. So you would have stabbed england earlier and just held austria in place?
I wouldn't have attacked Austria from your position as all. He was committed against Turkey and had no reason to fight you. You could have either a) held a line with very few forces in the south and concentrated on the north or b) you could have exerted effort to destroy turkey with Austria will using a small amount of forces to keep stability in the north. Instead, you let Austria crumble and the consequence was needing many forces north and also many forces south.

Thanks for the tips. Once you put it that way it makes perfect sense. Biggest hole in my game is turning that 8-10 center position into an actual solo and it's these mid-game situations that I need more experience at.

Correct Me If I'm Wrong, But...
…I don't think I am.

Wasn't it the Republican party that said that Hurricane Sandy was going to decide the election by stalling Obama's campaign? If that's the case, why are they so reasonably, so honestly switching sides to gain sympathy? I mean, they've never done that before….
