Marvel vs DC
Taking this from the Great Debate thread. So who do you guys like better? Any match ups you'd like to discuss or what not. I'm personally a Marvel fan because I feel they use more shades of grey in their writing and plotlines.

HONY
My new favorite Facebook feed. Basically, Humans of New York photographs a person on the sidewalk and posts a brief story about the encounter or the subject's story a few times each day. Mostly human interest stories, but interjected with humor, philosophy, and life observations.

Experienced players
Please consider signing up as a mentor for the SoW games. I can almost guarantee you have played with at least 1 graduate from these games. They help new players learn how to play and they help older players meet a new group of talented players. There is less work in mentoring then in playing an extra game, so please sign up if you can.

Selling Points made Legal

Diablo 3 has changed the way we play online games. You can actually make money by selling items, gold and in game materials at a small commission to the Site. Diplomacy should do this too, think how much money Splitdiplomat and Czech could make, it would be like they had jobs suddenly. This seems like a great Idea for up and comer players like Zmaj who will only keep playing in hopes of unlocking achievements or something. May as well let them make some cash instead.

Suspected multi-account in live game
http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=90854

The game is anonymous and in progress now. Austria and Italy both looked like they were going to fail to submit orders in Spring 1901. Since then, Austria has been freely ceding his home supply centers to Italy and writing unlikely support orders.

Diplomacy as a learning tool?
So without being too specific, I teach an international relations course at a university. Since the last week will mostly be consumed with students writing their final papers and my class is oddly small (6 students), I'm thinking about playing a game of diplomacy with them in the last couple days.

I have just realized that a prominent and well-respected player has been banned recently. Too be honest, I am surprised it took the mods so long to figure this one out. Can anyone guess who I am talking about?

As the creator of the game, I'm glad it had gotten some attention when it began, though am sorry I did so poorly.

Austria:
'01: I got greedy by attacking Rumania for two builds, but had hoped that it sent a message of friendship to Turkey. Italy didn't seem to mind the hedgehog opening to Venice, so I set down a plan to smash into Russia. After his CD and Turkey's two new army builds, I knew that wasn't going to be the case.

'02: I lose Rumania, and Turkey picks up Bulgaria. Russia is already completely dead, and I start praying that Italy will turn around and help defend against a very strong Turk.

'03 - elim: Italy is fully committed in the west, and England is content to sit by in Moscow. Without any help, I put up the best defense I can, and catch a lucky break with a Turkish NMR, but am killed off in a couple years time.

Italy: I wish you'd been paying more attention to the A/T dynamics more in this game. I understand you'd been committed until '03, but once A/T really start fighting, Italy needs to either help prop up Austria, or snap up all the scraps he can.

Russia: Poor sportsmanship, CDing after just one year. Not that I expected you would've wanted to cooperate, but at least the fight in the east could've been drawn out longer, slowing down Turkey.

Turkey: Good fight. I'd been hoping my staying out of your way would've signaled that I wanted friendship, but after Russia left, your choice was obvious.

Germany:

'01: Italy moving to Piedmont gave me the luxury of not having to cover Munich from France and go for Belgium. I saw the opportunity to make Russia go -1 and figured that would make for quite an easy target especially knowing France won't have the capabilities to put something in my arse.

'02: I thought a Western Triple might be in the works until after S 02. Not sure what the thought process was from England here. I understand attacking Russia, but moving to Denmark and Channel had me scratching my head. It made for the easiest F/G alliance.

Disappointed that Russia just gave up. I understand the frustration here but you definitely owe your best effort to everybody else involved.

'03: I remember in '03 thinking I'd get Moscow and really get the ball rolling against England with my new found fleet in Kiel. But Turkey gave England a support hold in Moscow to thwart that. And I had to scramble to try and cover everything at home.

'04: Picking up Moscow and Norway and losing Kiel was huge. And I was set up pretty nicely to recover Kiel and get St. Pete the following year.

'05: Blocking North Sea was huge, knowing England would dislodge me from Norway. And had intentions the entire time of retreating to NWS and walking right into Edinburgh. This was a huge year. Acquired the armies needed to enforce a line against Turkey.

'06: Finally secured all of Scandinavia and I thought I would have my lines air tight but I hadn't expected Turkey to move to Moscow. And I thought for sure that his retreat to Livonia was going to wreak havoc behind the lines.

'07: Tried an effort to disband Livonia to no avail. And was quite relieved when the retreat was ordered to you-crane and not Silesia. Also made a mistake here up North with my convoy. I should have just convoyed into Clyde and that would have made conquering England much quicker.

'08: Finally get my army to Clyde but lose North Sea. Italy nabbing Brest to force England into a disband was huge. I was starting to run out of time before Turkey was knocking at my door and I didn't have an adequate amount of armies.

'09: I channeled my inner derpasaur and fucked up my orders. Had an idea first, and then changed plan and forgot to save the orders for Wales and Clyde. The intention was to hold both units and let him walk into both his centers while I took North Sea. Instead, they moved and bounced, and North Sea was able to retreat to Norway. And I was definitely incredibly lucky to not have to chase him down in Scandinavia since he tried to cut my support to Edi. If I had to chase him down, that would have been brutal.

'10 - '11: Was pretty simple. Italy didn't react in time to stop me, still fearing Turkey. Although, Turkey being quite hostile with Italy didnt help. I guess in '08 Turkey still felt there was an opportunity to solo nabbing Venice. Italy spending so much time trying to get back Ionian was definitely a huge aid in my solo.

Karatur: Thanks for picking up Turkey from CD. It was a really good position to pick up but you played it well for most of the game, with the only exception in my opinion not giving the proper signals to Italy that you wanted to stop my solo. You put your draw vote up but you made quite a few moves that weren't in line for playing with a draw.

Russia: Again, as Austria stated, poor sportsmanship. Frustration understood but quitting is never cool.

Christians vs Atheists
Seeing as there is normally at least one of these debate threads a week, I thought I would just set this here and see if there is in fact any middle ground to be had. -> http://www.cracked.com/article_15759_10-things-christians-atheists-can-and-must-agree-on.html

Atheists, what do you think? Christians, how about you?
