Marvel vs DC
Taking this from the Great Debate thread. So who do you guys like better? Any match ups you'd like to discuss or what not. I'm personally a Marvel fan because I feel they use more shades of grey in their writing and plotlines.

HONY
My new favorite Facebook feed. Basically, Humans of New York photographs a person on the sidewalk and posts a brief story about the encounter or the subject's story a few times each day. Mostly human interest stories, but interjected with humor, philosophy, and life observations.

Experienced players
Please consider signing up as a mentor for the SoW games. I can almost guarantee you have played with at least 1 graduate from these games. They help new players learn how to play and they help older players meet a new group of talented players. There is less work in mentoring then in playing an extra game, so please sign up if you can.

fllying boat, I was just going to post that...lol Three of them turds (West/west/fuhrer) always play together, I had them in another game a few days ago.

I have my doubts on them, but they are so bad, Even vicky can beat them...lol

That could easily be the final game of my Resignation Tournament.

I think that terry32smith might be vicky's sage/mentor or something. Seems she is following in his footsteps :P
Vicky isn't a sociopath that lies about his dog and children being hit by cars to try and guilt other people into pausing a live game she loses, so she's nowhere near terry's level yet.

Vicky games are always 'interesting' lol She does like to play with some big names though dont she? Her big 25% resign rate though...wow I am sure it is higher, but I think sometimes, she CDs, and then everyone kilsl her, and the resing dont count.
Stressedlines (1559 D)
06 Jun 12 UTC
no, she is just really bad at CDing/NMRing...lol
Oh, and she's not literally the lowest-rated (by GR) live games player right now, so...

can someone tell me what a 'GR' is?

I see it a lot spoken about, but I think maybe it is not on this site this 'GR'?

@theflyingboat, everyone DOES say that gr does

Vicky[Toss] (0 DX)

I blame my resign rate on my lack of desire to continue support holding with my last unit in St Petes as the reason. :(

You CDed our game last night as Russia (gameID=90756) and could have easily made a comeback, or at the very least changed the course of the game and possibly gotten into the draw. You left in Spring 1903 and St. Petersburg wasn't taken until Fall 1908. Up to that point, Austria was vulnerable in Moscow and you could have changed the course of the game and likely received part of the draw. Not only that, Norway was wide open for several turns, so you could have even built.

Buuuuuuuutttt.....you decided to quit the minute you started to lose. You're a horrible player and it's only by sheer bad luck that I end up in games with you.

I should also add that Czech has come back and won a game after being down to a single center.
Vicky[Toss] (0 DX)
06 Jun 12 UTC
I'd like to retort, but I would have to agree that it's horrible of me to leave games when I feel it un-salvageable.

On one thing I can argue back against is your ridiculous argument that a one center country is able to recover effectively. Please, don't cite The Czech, instead, show me how you yourself have been able to accomplish such a feat. :)

Check out this game ....... what a carve up.
I'd love to see the EOGs from England, Germany and Italy ..... something was very wrong here
2ndWhiteLine (2611 D(B))

The Czech's case is obviously the exception. However, I still stand by my assertion, which is quite valid, that a one center country can easily affect the outcome of a game and be a part of the draw. In gameID=90756, for example, you could have taken Norway in F1911 and built another army in St. Pete. The following turn, Austria left Moscow practically undefended when I blitzed Warsaw, so you would have had an opportunity for a third build, given I was in no position to attack Norway. At that point, both Turkey and Italy were well on their way to being eliminated and you could have continued to pressure Warsaw and Sev while I moved on Vienna. You gave up a draw because you quit at the first sign of adversity.
Stressedlines (1559 D)
06 Jun 12 UTC
Vicky, you need to play til the end, so that you can help effect the outcome. Get in on a draw. Germany and france wouldnot have stopped you from helping fight austria in that game, and I can see you ending up with 3 SCs at the end, and holding Moscow.

Selling Points made Legal

Diablo 3 has changed the way we play online games. You can actually make money by selling items, gold and in game materials at a small commission to the Site. Diplomacy should do this too, think how much money Splitdiplomat and Czech could make, it would be like they had jobs suddenly. This seems like a great Idea for up and comer players like Zmaj who will only keep playing in hopes of unlocking achievements or something. May as well let them make some cash instead.

Suspected multi-account in live game
http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=90854

The game is anonymous and in progress now. Austria and Italy both looked like they were going to fail to submit orders in Spring 1901. Since then, Austria has been freely ceding his home supply centers to Italy and writing unlikely support orders.

Diplomacy as a learning tool?
So without being too specific, I teach an international relations course at a university. Since the last week will mostly be consumed with students writing their final papers and my class is oddly small (6 students), I'm thinking about playing a game of diplomacy with them in the last couple days.

Christians vs Atheists
Seeing as there is normally at least one of these debate threads a week, I thought I would just set this here and see if there is in fact any middle ground to be had. -> http://www.cracked.com/article_15759_10-things-christians-atheists-can-and-must-agree-on.html

Atheists, what do you think? Christians, how about you?
