Lol, I bet Greece is really hoping NOT to win. How is Sweden a shoe-in? Sure they'll get the Scandinavia vote, but who else will vote for them?

I unfortunately only got to watch a little bit last night, but I'll see the rest of it. I don't mind Julia Zemiro (I'm assuming she's the one BBC interviewed because she's done Eurovision for the last 4 to 6 years or so), I just don't find her that funny. And her co-presenter is some other guy (maybe Asian, half-Asian, IDK) who is extremely boring to watch.

Bah, I spelt it as Eurivision in the title, maybe my vision is going.

This always makes me very ashamed of living in Europe.

The way to enjoy Eurovision is 1) realise that it isn't important, 2) that the voting is political in many cases and 3) consume a large amount of alcohol whilst enjoying the show.

Dozens of European singers murdering the English language? What's not to like?

I really hope someone singing in their own language wins this year. Singing in English when it's clear you have no idea how to even speak it (some of the lyrics are truly comical) is just lame. It is one of the few times a year when I actually find myself admiring the French for insisting on singing in Frog.

Russia, Azerbaijan and Iceland make up my top three. Not the best of years though :(

I agree with Pete U: the competition itself is not too serious, it's meant to be fun, alcohol and partying is a great way to enjoy it.

Sour grapes say it's political and whilst there's an element of yearly political motivation and diaspora voting, a good popular song generally wins. The UK needs to pick a good song - the case of Germany winning 2010 shows that politics doesn't rule everything. It's not always the Eastern Europeans - in fact, they've won very few times, despite it seeming like they dominate each year.

Exactly, does anyone actually take it seriously?
