Congratulations to Chanakya. But Bob, what happened in the last move there? I had Munich covered, Bur could have saved Mar, and Portugal was not in danger? I don't understand. We were just one turn away from drawing.

I saw this wonderful news article on the BBC and I thought it was worth sharing - not only because it's so ridiculous it's comedic but also because it reminded me of our resident Swede, Vaft :)

Could people please stop signing up for games and then not showing up?
I swear, every time I'm Turkey or England, people don't show up and screw thegame. If I'm Austria, though, everybody's there with bells on and eager to move to Trieste and Galicia right away.

Sarg, what possessed you to take Belgium from me? I needed that build from the disband in Tyrolia to hold Munich!
Sargmacher (0 DX)
19 Apr 12 UTC
Idiot. Don't blame me.

You should have supported Ruhr-Munich, not Kiel-Munich. My unit in Belgium could have moved to Ruhr and held the line.

I could have moved to Kiel but it was over on the French line anyway.
Rascal (100 D)
19 Apr 12 UTC
It wouldn't have been over if I didn't have to use Burgundy to stop Turkey from getting Munich.
2ndWhiteLine (2611 D(B))
19 Apr 12 UTC
Doesn't matter what I supported, my plan *should* have worked perfectly to hold the stalemate. I couldn't risk leaving Berlin open and covering with a fleet. If I could have rebuilt in Kiel, I could have held Munich, and the French unit in Burgundy would have been able to support Marseilles to hold the stalemate. Don't quite understand why you needed Belgium after the draw had become apparent anyway.

Oh, you're right, I concede to you that you could have built a new army and the line would have been fine. Sorry - I just didn't appreciate the private messages and the "SARG!!!!" post.

I blame multitasking: reading and glancing at the gunboat probably wasn't the best help. Sorry.
2ndWhiteLine (2611 D(B))
19 Apr 12 UTC
Argh. Not a big deal. I'm more surprised at the move than anything else, didn't really expect it coming from a veteran like yourself.

Rascal, you played a solid game, our alliance fell into place pretty quickly. Probably should have abandoned your English attack a bit sooner, but you recognized the Turkish threat pretty quickly, although the fleet in Spain helped :)

Czech, next time you won't be so lucky! :)
Sargmacher (0 DX)

Well, I didn't notice that your army had been disbanded and so naturally I did not realise that you had a spare build to come in the Autumn Builds phase.

Thus, I thought on my feet and sent the army to Holland - thinking you would disband Sweden (which is why I gave a support hold to Sweden, to convey its uselessness) - and then I was going to move Holland-Ruhr.

Veteran, thinking on my feet. Misplaced though - should have noticed your spare build. As I said, I was reading.

Hopefully you can understand my thinking a bit more now though.

"Probably should have abandoned your English attack a bit sooner"

Yes absolutely

@Rascal: Don't private message me saying the solo was my fault when you voted draw but kept attacking me pointlessly. Don't vote draw if you're not willing to work with the other people you need to make the draw work. I had a good mind to throw St Petersburg to Turkey because of your attacks on me. Luckily I didn't and you finally moved away to defend the MAO.
Rascal (100 D)
19 Apr 12 UTC
Sorry about that. I figured the extra build would be useful to defend the south. I definitely made my share of mistakes in that game too.
2ndWhiteLine (2611 D(B))
19 Apr 12 UTC
After I realized I needed to hold Munich, all my fleets became useless, so it really didn't matter which one was disbanded. And yeah, the spare build was an easy detail to overlook, so I can't fault you for that. Sorry about the hasty message on the board.

Rascal, take a few notes here. First, always pay attention. Second, play the draw. Third, don't fuck with the Czech.

"After I realized I needed to hold Munich, all my fleets became useless,"

I would contend that your Baltic Sea fleet was vastly important in holding the line.
Fourth, when you're Italy in a gunboat, unless you really, really want a fuckton of Turkish fleets sailing around your peninsula, it's probably not a good idea to invade Austria in force in S01.

BTW, board link...

I honestly cannot recall a game I've seen where Italy took Trieste with the intent of keeping it in S1901 that did not result in a Turkish victory.
Sargmacher (0 DX)
19 Apr 12 UTC
Bob, that's extremely hypocritical. Only last night did you play as Italy attacking me as Austria in 1901.

I'm glad you've learnt the lesson - and I think it's a very sweet karma - but don't act like it's something you've always know. "I honestly cannot recall a game" suggests this is something you've known for a long, long time - when in fact you have known this for probably less than 24 hours.
I've seen it three times in the past two weeks. Once, I tried it for the first time, yesterday.

Marxism
Marxism is fundamentally a theory of history which should entail a commitment to social change; that is, a commitment to a socialist future in which the forces of production are not owned privately as they are in capitalist societies but under common ownership.

And Drogzilla scores. I effing hate Chelski, but I have nothing but admiration for Drogba. It helps that they're playing Barca, who I fucking detest since their several year long campaign to stoke Fabregas' discontent. Seriously, fuck them.

Out of moderate respect for ulytau's authority, I am creating a companion thread for people who have been eliminated from his other thread to keep arguing about grammar, ulytau's thread, and how unjust the universe is for disliking how they (yes, *we*... sigh) write.
