Can someone explain the difference between Quantitative Easing & Credit Easing? I'm not getting it. I get that QE is pumping money into circulation by buying large numbers of treasury bonds, but how is the process different with this "credit easing"? It's still expanding the balance sheet, is it not?
either that or I don't know the rules correctly... gameID=73804 In Autumn 1908 I moved Pie-Ven via convoy. The convoy failed, yet the army still moved. Should this have happened?
Technically it is a valid result. For some reason, phpDip asks whether an army's movement is via land or convoy, while normally you'd just write the army's origin and destination and it would try to get there by any means possible: if going by land fails but the convoy succeeds, the army will still move, and vice versa.
Thus, given the order A Pie-Ven, it should succeed regardless of whether a convoy is being ordered or not. The only reason for ordering the fleets to convoy the army would be if there were another nation's army in Ven moving to Pie; in this case the two armies would swap positions iff a convoy were ordered.
It seems like the only bug is that the string "via convoy" is appended to the army's orders.
The purpose of choosing "via land" instead "via convoy" for cases where a land route exists is to prevent a "kidnapped" convoy. However, specifying "via convoy" when a land route exists essentially means take the convoy if possible, but the land route if not.

Thread was given its voice back because discussing/posting bugs isn't against the rules. I think it was once meant to mean "don't post on this forum, post on the code forum," but that's pretty vague. The official rulebook will be changed soon to reflect this. Good news is that silence works! =)
Well it doesn't follow the Rulebook exactly and it doesn't follow the accepted face to face revisions either. The Rulebook version basically doesn't require specifying but allows hijacking a unit with a convoy order. Standard tournament diplomacy did away with hijacking by requiring convoyed units to use the by convoy option, but every tourney I've played in only allows the unit that says by convoy to move by convoy. So very interesting that of doesn't quite conform to either rule set. What does the DATC say about it?
Quick question, what is hijacking or kidnapping a unit? Never heard the terms before. Webdip is by far my biggest exposure to diplomacy, and I haven't seen this come up before
The original rules allowed you to do something sneaky with convoys. For example:
-Turkish Army CON move to BUL -Austrian Army BUL move to CON Normally this would just bounce. But if Russia suddenly did: -Russian fleet BLA convoy BUL to CON (or CON to BUL) Then the armies would swap places without Austria or Turkey having a say.
This is why the via convoy was introduced in some circles as Draugnar mentioned.
Galacia suported Ukrain into Warsaw, while Warsaw attacked Galacia, it is my understanding that this should have prevented ukrain taking warsaw.but warsaw was taken as suport should have been broken.

What things do you to keep track of whats going on in a game, from a diplomacy perspective... to work out the likelihood someone is going to "stab" (a phrase I am becoming quickly accustom with) you a few turns in advance.
is it wise to have a separate word doc open to keep track of whats going on with each country?

My brother(The Man Who Can't Be Moved) without my knowing, decided to joing some daily games that I was in without telling me, 2 of which I believe are Anonymous, this will not compromise how I play the game but it is certainly aggrivating that I could get banned when uses my Laptop, is there anyway I can avoid being under scrutany for this or should I simply avoid it in the future?
