The Free Market Working Perfectly

The government doesn't seem to have a desire to interfere in the book selling industry, yet.
So in the small portion of the massive American economy the free market is working by destroying an inefficient business model, Borders Books.

Ethics question

So I was sucking some dude's dick in the rectory basement the other day, and I'm conflicted. The bible teaches that homosexuality is a sin, but I can only find true happiness with a hot rod plunged balls deep into my willing man-hole. How can something that feels so good be wrong?

I want to change, but I can no longer resist my urges for wanton buttsecks with random men. Can somebody please help me?

Would This Be Allowed?

If a game was created where a basic algorithm selected a number and which ever country guessed the farthest off, became someone that absolutely everyone would have to ally against? It would be quite interesting...

The trolling trolls initiative

Some people in this forum have now decided that the best way to combat trolls it to troll them.

As someone who hasn't trolled in 3 days and has tried to participate in political debates, this initiative has gotten very annoying. So I request that we stop it.

First game on webdiplomacy - do you remember it?

I remember mine. It was a live non-anonymous game, I was Turkey and smetha was Russia. I asked him if he has a MSN messenger or Google talk, so we can discuss our alliance, and he just stabbed me - with Italy and Austria. I was the first out. What was your first game experience on webdip?

How do I pause?

Sorry for the seemingly dumb question, I've pressed the pause button, as have a few of the other players in our game, but the time seems to keep counting down. Does everyone in the game have to click pause? Or does pause just prevent the turn from processing?

It's our first time playing on the site, I searched the FAQ, and couldn't figure out exactly how pausing works. Thanks in advance for the answer!

i just went from 'experienced' to 'member', just because i bet x-amount of points on a new game. wtf?

Your ranking in terms of "experienced" or "member" or "political puppet" is based on the number of available points that you have. So by investing points in a game, it moved you down as you no longer have as many available points.

Most people go by Ghost Ratings rather than points.

No one really looks at the points or at the adjective attached to it. Some great players on this site have less points than you do.
Another ranking system is the Ghost Rating system: https://sites.google.com/site/phpdiplomacytournaments/theghost-ratingslist

It's done by a player and takes into account much more than the dip point system.

Well wouldn't it be odd for it to be based on your total points? I mean, once you invest points into a game they are no longer yours. You could very well lose the game. Plus you can always see how many total points a player has, so just look at that if you think it more accurately represents the skill of a player.

I woudl have based it on current worth in all the player's games. Then if you are doing well in all your games, even though you are hevily invested, you can still have a high rank but if you are doing porrly and hevily invested, you'll be the political puppet.

i've seen the ghost rankings list, and i agree that that is a better way of gauging a player's experience. I just have an issue, personally, with being called a 'political puppet'. I generally will not put up with that. Excuse me.

I agree with Draug. Invested points should count. Yes you have invested them in a game, and yes you could lose them, but until you have lost the game they are still yours. It is ridiculous to plunge in the ranking just because you have invested a lot of points in the game. It makes no sense.

Definitely, invested points should count. since they dont, i have 4

right now, so am near the very bottom (not that id be too far up, i only joined in august, but still).

Don't misinterpret what I said. I said current worth of your games, not your actual invested points. You may have 5

invested in a game but only have one SC so your worth in that game is 1 point. Or you may have 5

but be at 17 SCs tring to get the win, making your worth 18

.

Maybe not, but it would be nice if they actually meant something instead of being willy nilly based on your available points. As they are now, new people to the site who don't know about GR, could become point hoarders trying to get their rank up.

You don't get a GR until after the end of your first month with a completed game. You have only completed two games and both have been in the last week. Look for it October 1st or thereabouts, whenever TheGhostmaker gets a chance to run them.

i care about the points, i want to be able to play in large pot games with top players. Also, i still do not like to be called a puppet! it just rankles. I am only one person's puppet and she gives me sexual favours in return. Can't see any of you lot doing that, not that i'm asking. Or am i? Christ, you'd think by now i'd know my sexuality, what?

Marti: You can probably get into a game with top players even in absence of points. We (and you'll forgive my presumptuousness) will make passworded games for low bets if we're just looking for a game. And I routinely play 25-30 bet games, live and non-live, just because it can be hard to organize top flight games for high bets.
