Pakistan: GOP Paradise
Liberal Tripe or Poignant Obeservation from Nicholas Kristof: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/05/opinion/05kristof.html?_r=2&src=me&ref=general ?

I tend to think the latter, but then I've been wrong before. This also got me thinking about what countries/political systems American conservatives actually admire throughout the world. Anyone care to share a place that the GOP would point to as a desirable place as a result of policies and positions similar to their own.

The stupidity of the private ownership of cars
6,420,000 accidents in the United States in 2005. Financial cost of more than 230 Billion dollars. 2.9 million people were injured and 42,636 people killed. About 115 people die every day in vehicle crashes in the United States -- one death every 13 minutes.

Question for Communists
Given that, despite the pure ideology and human equality of your concept, the true nature of human beings seems to always fuck up the implementation....why do you still believe in Communism? North Korea is best Korea!
It seems the folks who constantly recommend Putin to relocate to North Korea are gravely misunderstood in their intentions. They are not out of their arguments, they are simply following the Golden Rule.

Names, Faces, and Places
When I say I'm from an American from Los Angeles County, those that have never been there--what do you picture? When you think of an American, what comes to mind, Englishmen? And what comes to mind when players identify themselves as being from parts of the UK? From Europe? South America? Just curious how close we all are (or how hilariously-off our conceptions might be...) ;)
Draugnar (0 DX)

Your a little Jewish dude whose dad is in TV/movies as a producer or financier. Am inclose?
You live Southwest of Los Angeles, living near the border with Orange County. You dad commutes to work at one of the defense contracting plants that are around the city. Close?

America is hard because it is so multi-cultural. Obi, being Jewish, maybe you have olive skin, curly black hair (a jewfro) and a biggish nose. But you could just as easily have straight blonde hair and blue eyes. I would imagine that in person you are an enthusiastic quick talker (not at all introverted).
Draug, I imagine to be tall (over 6 feet) and BIG (because he has told us all previously). I would imagine Draug to be geeky but gregarious and extroverted in person.

krellin (80 DX)

I don't ever try to imagine what your appearance might be. I'm nto sure what the hell difference it will make, since your words will much more loudly proclaim who you are than your skin ever will. Frankly, I am kind of shocked by the question...and yet I am much more shocked that people have taken the racist bait and tried to define you in racial terms, as if they matter....
spyman (424 D(G))
05 Jun 11 UTC
Which statements have you found racist?
Tolstoy (1962 D)
05 Jun 11 UTC
I seem to recall someone somewhere posting a link to a picture of Draug, and he looks nothing like John Goodman IIRC.

I can't really develop a mental picture of Obi based on geography, since I live in the same general geographic area and know that this has got to be the most diverse metropolitan area on earth. We've got Jews of just about every flavor there is around here, from black Ethiopian Jews to blond-haired blue-eyed Aryan wannabe Jews. Also, there are more Jews here than show business jobs, so obi's father probably isn't working in that industry (especially since he's in Palmdale. If I had to guess, I'd say the aerospace industry, based on the proximity to Edwards Air Force base, which employs several thousand tons of people).
krellin (80 DX)
05 Jun 11 UTC
Even the mention that he is Jewish means that you are applying some racism to your description of him. That you are trying to say his hair looks like this, his that looks like that is offensive. Who the fuck cares what his abc looks like? Who cares if you remember he once said he was jewsh....he may have been lying. The point is....who cares? He might be a Jew that hates gold and love the PLO. He might be of African decent but thinks slavery was of great benefit not only to early America, but to the off-spring of slaves in general (after all, one is now the First Lady...). i.e. racial information is meaningless in terms of *any* individual. Yes....he asked the question....but I just can't believe that any of you took that damned bait and threw your pre-concieved notions of race/appearance out there, as if someone's stated opinions in chat would or could give you and accurate description of someone's appearance. Frankly. it utterly disgusts me...

Why is there always someone who does what krellin does?

Because without them, we would all die of boredom.

"Even the mention that he is Jewish means that you are applying some racism to your description of him."

I think you must have a different definition of racism than I do.
The fact is, to some extent (and the extent various depending upon the region and ethnicity) people do share certain physical characteristics. This is more true of ethnically homogenous regions - Scandanavia and Japan being excellent examples. If you tell me that you come from either of those regions and then ask me to guess what you look like I am probably not going to guess that you look Melanesian. If that makes me racist... Then I have don't know what you mean by racist.

@Draug, goldfinger, and spyman:

Draug's right in that I'm a little Jewish dude, around 5'8" or so...

goldfinger's right in that my dad commutes...

And spyman's right in that I do, in fact, sport a Jewfrom (ttry as I might to keep that sucker short and combed back, it just 'fros up...) :p

NONE of you were close on my dad's profession, and LA County, goldfinger, but not near Orange, and not near the border--not too near, anyway, I suppose within the better part of a day's drive, 6 or more hours, but not San Diego-near the border...and my father has absolutely nothing to do with TV, defense, or even being a greedy Jeewish contractor or producer, as technically he'd now be a greedy Christian one of those. ;) (But nah, not at all in those fields.)

I honestly can't place a face to your names, with the exception that I assume you're all white males? Hence my question (though I meant it more along the lines of what someone from another country who's never met an American might envision us as, if they might see us as all cowboy-like or maybe like New Yorkers...?)

(Oh--and as far from olive-skinned as possible, and not black and not blonde hair.)

Noy mine, haha...and it's not a big, Harpo Marx-esque fro, just enough to qualitfy as one because of my damn curly hair...alas, Sherlock Holmes, Nietzsche, Shakespeare, Hamlet, Spock--none of THEM had to suffer the indignity of the curly hair mini-fro! XD
Tolstoy (1962 D)

"none of THEM had to suffer the indignity of the curly hair mini-fro!"

My cousin (a professional hair stylist) says that fashions are constantly cycling over time; in another 15-20 years, your Judeo-fro will be back in style, and we goyim will have to pay to get our hair curled to not look 'freaky' and abnormal. Fret not, thou son of Moses. Patience is all you need.

Nah, I'm not seriously upset with it, haha--I wear pretty much the same style every day:

Jeans, tennis shoes, grey/black/solid shirt, and a black blazer (with some tea in one of the pockets, of course.)

I'm like a cartoon character, I look the same day after day after day... ;)
SacredDigits (102 D)

I pictured obiwan as always wearing a blazer, oddly enough, so I guess I win there, but I saw him as being more the combat boots for footwear.

I always pictured Draug as wearing glasses, probably not too thick, just minor ones.
