Technical Glitch
When i tried to open the home page i got an error message saying line 404 was corrupt and giving me this: home/.mio/webdiplomacy/webdiplomacy.net/lib/html.php, and it stayed after i tried a couple more times

I only copied that part as i put it into Google and it gave me a link to the forums but on a very old page (300 and something). When i then tried to open it again it was fine. Anybody know what this was?

The Most Hilarious In-Game Conversation EVER!
This happened in a live game that just finished. gameID=28817
I'm talking to Italy, I'll post the conversation from the game inside. I think I was being unfairly abused... Until the end that is. By then I just couldn't resist.

Censorship on the Forum...?
I noticed recently a few threads that have gone missing. I believe I have repeatedly seen messages from Mods they they will not be censoring the forum, and nothing in either thread was particularly bad... So what's up?

Small points pickup?
Italy with 7 SCs has left a game that is moving toward a 3- or 4-way draw. It's public press, so you can see how the game has progressed.

I Am The Greatest Diplomacy Player in the World
There is one thing, one thing only in this mad world of Diplomacy. It is that I, MuffyScruffy, have on each and every one of you sons of a bear, an overwhelming strength and aptitude for Live Diplomacy.
(the rest of this glorious message is stored as a response.)
MuffyScruffy (100 D)
11 May 10 UTC
Regardless of what you sons of a bear lack, my perfect, brilliant sense of tact will nevertheless put you at a lacking in odds for survival against me in the Internet Realm. May this be a challenge, for a game of Diplomacy the likes that each and every one of you sons of a bear have never seen nor played before. Any man or women with the balls big enough to step into the ring of death with me will not only earn my respect, but also, earn a greater sense of Diplomatic life.

Now, lulzworth, I have to know:

You've said before I'M overly egotistic and conceited and full of myself... is my ego now eclipsed in your view?

;)
Still in denial...

Verily, though you may be a powerful Seer, with the ability to see through the very mists of both time and deceit, I believe myself to be the superior competitor in all things related to the game of Diplomacy. Whether I control France's fleets, or the armies of Austria, there are none who are my peer in the scholarly arts of truth, lies, and plunder. With every draw I grow closer to an eventual victory; with every defeat, I learn the wily ways of another cretin, and enrich myself in ways unimaginable by a lesser player.

I have memorized the names of every Supply Center.

Women swoon when they see my fingers dance over the keys, and moan as they see how I glide my fingers over the trackpad, only to.. click, then click more. I set selectboxes flawlessly and never forget to set "via land" where appropriate. I can see the Fall of 1903 from the Spring of 1901. I know when the Czar takes a dump. With all due respect, I'm sure you'll agree that I am the superior player.

Hey guys, I think bplus is the superior player.

(plus his D is over 100, which counts for something…)
akilies (861 D)
12 May 10 UTC
yeah it means if you draw your first game you can be over 100 D. don't get me wrong i'm not saying bplus is a bad player, i'm just saying a 6 way draw would put you over 100 D after 1 game, which isn't that impressive.

and muffyscruff, or bearnstein or whoever you are, get a life and win something before you brag
MuffyScruffy (100 D)
12 May 10 UTC
Hey, you sons of a bear, Go take a hike. I am setting up a game now, for all my marbles, and when I win, after you ninny sons of a bear learn to compete, you'll see just how amazing I am.
MuffyScruffy (100 D)

If you are looking for the game, and the location of your demise, search for "Sons of a Bear"
StevenC. (1047 D(B))

Hm, oh yes Bearnstein. You are such a superior player. Of course if you see through all deceit then you will unwittingly realize that was sarcasm at it's utmost.

Verily I sayeth unto MuffyScruff, Callhamer begat the Classic and he saw it and called it good, but other, the heretics, begat the Variants, each and everyone one an abomination in Callhamer's site.
And Callhamer sayeth, "Thou shall honor no game before the Classic, nor shall you honor builds not in the home centers, for all others are unclean. Nor shall you value plastic pieces, but instead, cling only to wooden pieces in face-to-face meetings of the faithful. You shall covet your neighbors centers as you covet his wife, his child, his slave, and his ass."
Hummmm....getting to sound a little like a souther Baptist or a Florida Republican, so I better stop.

Ugh, the situational rules...
If a fleet convoys an army to attack a territory, and there is one unsupported piece in that territory, is it dislodged (as a result of both a fleet and army attack)?
In other words, is a convoy order also an attack order?

Declaring Victory?
What is the advantage of declaring victory at 18SCs... surely if you have the upper hand and all is going to plan, just start taking more and more until you win the whole pot. Is the fear that if you do that you are likely to lose your grip on victory or something? Whenever I've played with others they declare victory the instant they get 18 SCs, it just seems strange to me

TRADITION!
"And how do we keep our balance? That I cna tell you in one word- TRADITION!" -Tevye from "Fiddler on the Roof." I don't agree with all of them, but I treasure ALL of my Jewish traditions, a link to my past and family (some who, fitting the end of the play, came from Russia, appropriately enough.) What are some of YOUR culture's traditions, and why do you treasure them so?
