Technical Glitch
When i tried to open the home page i got an error message saying line 404 was corrupt and giving me this: home/.mio/webdiplomacy/webdiplomacy.net/lib/html.php, and it stayed after i tried a couple more times

I only copied that part as i put it into Google and it gave me a link to the forums but on a very old page (300 and something). When i then tried to open it again it was fine. Anybody know what this was?

The Most Hilarious In-Game Conversation EVER!
This happened in a live game that just finished. gameID=28817
I'm talking to Italy, I'll post the conversation from the game inside. I think I was being unfairly abused... Until the end that is. By then I just couldn't resist.

Just this thread, friend. You went to the same level as him as far as being a douchebag. The only difference between you is that he DID start in first, it seems. So you get half a point for that.

You're still both assholes, as said previously.
figlesquidge (2131 D)

At sham's forum comments: True, but as game press is limited to those in the game its not too bigger issue once the games done. If you want you can just deny it!
Draugnar (0 DX)
11 May 10 UTC
Actually, it's only limited to the game if the press was private. If it is on the global tab, it can't be read by anyone, even folks outside the game when the game is done.
figlesquidge (2131 D)

Surely can?
And I know, I meant private messages. But thanks for correcting me - can always guarantee you or Ghost will be there :P
I found his reaction really funny, so I was just sharing what I considered to be a good laugh.

Für die Deutsche, Nazis sind gar nicht komisch. Aber du musst erinnern, dass die Meiste Americanere haben nie ein Nazi getrifft. Nazis sind fast wie Märchen.
(Google Translate)
For the German, Nazis are not funny. But you must remember that most Ameri canere getrifft never a Nazi. Nazis are almost like fairy tales.

OK, then. What does this actually mean?
It means Nazis are characters in a book to the average American... I would have to disagree with that however. Could be the Hebrew school education, and the college courses.
TAWZ (0 DX)
12 May 10 UTC
For Germans Nzis aint funny or not polite. but u has to know that the most Americans never meet a Nazi they just now them from TV or books. Nazis are like fairy tales here in the US.
Something like that

I am very, very, very strongly against racism, or accusations of Nazism, even in passing. It annoys the hell out of me, and it annoys me more that the mods on the site refuse to do anything about it.

That being said: "who event the A Bomb ? Wernher von Braun"

No. No, Albert Einstein evented the A Bomb. Er, invented.
Tough shit Tawz. Just like I have to take abuse because my country invaded Iraq and Afghanistan and supports Israel and won't sign Kyoto and whatever the flavor of the day is to hate America, that is your burden to bear.

This thread is done for me......

Guess Goebbels, Himmler and Eichmann needed a fourth for bridge...

@ JECE - Nazi's are definitely not fairy tales, they're actually probably more a part of contemporary American culture than they are in Germay. I don't mean history, I mean contemporary culture. TAWZ said his dad wasn't even alive during WWII which puts him around my age, meaning to him Nazi'a are something from history books, as the Nazi party is outlawed in Germany. I on the other hand see swaztikas carved into desks, see them in movies (American History X is a good example) and pretty much every white supremacist gang in America has ties to the Aryan Brotherhood, a Neo-Nazi organization. Also, even if Nazi's are fairy tales to American's are N*****s fairy tales to Germans?

@ SirBayer - Not Einstein, Oppenheimer. Einstein just wrote the letter ot Roosevelt telling him to start the Manhattan Project.

@ Jack_Klein - I'll be the first to admit that I'm willing to be a douche in exchange for a well-timed joke.
gopher27 (220 D)
12 May 10 UTC
I see very few swastikas walking around in America as opposed to Hindu fertility symbols, Navajo whirling logs and Hopi eternal wander symbols.....I would scarcely have suspected how erudite graffiti artists in Men's restrooms are.

It's not the stupidity, its the ignorance. I really got a kick a few years back when some left wing group made up a poster of George Bush with swastikas for eyes and they reversed them. Telling us I guess that W. is the messenger of Ganesha.
Gopher. Where do you live?

Do stay calm people!

@SirBayer - We don't get involved because one of the points of this forum is that with a community of diplomacy players you tend to get interesting and sensible debates, and that free speech is encouraged. If people start forcing you to read their content, such as by flooding the forum, they are blocked, but until then if you choose to open a thread that is your choice. It is not up to us to decide what is appropriate or offensive - as mature individuals members are expected to do that for themselves.

Also, whilst I (and I expect all the other mods) am totally against this sort of thing, it was made in a game, so perhaps instead of taking offence one should be complimented that they were causing enough problems for their opponent to warrant such a reaction.

@Durden: ...er, right. >_>; I'm not forgetting my history REALLY

@figlesquidge: Still. It bothers me.
@ figle - What are you against, the posting in the forum or the insults to begin with?

@ SirBayer - If that was supposed to be sarcastic, it's ironic as you're wrong.

Censorship on the Forum...?
I noticed recently a few threads that have gone missing. I believe I have repeatedly seen messages from Mods they they will not be censoring the forum, and nothing in either thread was particularly bad... So what's up?

Small points pickup?
Italy with 7 SCs has left a game that is moving toward a 3- or 4-way draw. It's public press, so you can see how the game has progressed.

Ugh, the situational rules...
If a fleet convoys an army to attack a territory, and there is one unsupported piece in that territory, is it dislodged (as a result of both a fleet and army attack)?
In other words, is a convoy order also an attack order?

Declaring Victory?
What is the advantage of declaring victory at 18SCs... surely if you have the upper hand and all is going to plan, just start taking more and more until you win the whole pot. Is the fear that if you do that you are likely to lose your grip on victory or something? Whenever I've played with others they declare victory the instant they get 18 SCs, it just seems strange to me

TRADITION!
"And how do we keep our balance? That I cna tell you in one word- TRADITION!" -Tevye from "Fiddler on the Roof." I don't agree with all of them, but I treasure ALL of my Jewish traditions, a link to my past and family (some who, fitting the end of the play, came from Russia, appropriately enough.) What are some of YOUR culture's traditions, and why do you treasure them so?
