Can someone help me figure out what happened here?
In a recent game I tried to pull of a move that required me to move out of Rumania to attack Sevastopol while moving my army from Bulgaria into Rumania again, I assumed Galicia would attack Rumania so I had my ally attack him to keep his move canceled. My army got stuck in Bulgaria however.

That's all a bit convoluted, the gameID=20630 if you could just check it out and tell me what happened so I don't make the same mistake again. Thanks!

This sister site to webdip is full of variants. I especially like France vs. Austria. This is a great variant for playing live games as you only need 2 players. Anyone interested should sign up and we can play a game now.

Fantasy Fiction from when I was a kid - Can the magic be revisited?
Wait for it (i know you won't, so let me call you a jerk now :P

Reading 9 princes series over again right now :-)
So someone brought up one of the Fantasy (Sword and Sorcery type) series I read as a kid. I'm wondering... there were a few series I read as a teen which stand really prominently in my head, and I wonder whether they would just just as good now, or whether either I'm too old to enjoy them as much, or whether they don't stand the test of time (like many TV shows from the 70s and 80s which look rediculous today). I don't read fantasy any more, so i don't have much to compare them to now.

The series in particular are

Amber by Roger Zelazny
Denryi (a bunch of different trilogies) by Katherine Kurtz
Eternal Champion Series (Elric, Hawkmoon, Erekose, Corum and others) by the unforunately named Michael Moorcock
The Belgariad and Elium by David Eddings.

I have the Deryni, Eternal champion and Amber series, and am introducing my kids to them.

It would only be unfortunate if he was Michael Lesscock

I read one of the Eternal Champion's books as a teenager around 6-7 years ago.

I found it interesting and pleasent to read, but it didn't blow my mind at all (as LOTR did, although I read that at a younger age).
I didn't read the Amber or Belgariad series until I was in my 30's. I enjoyed them, though the follow-on stories were crap. I never read the other stories you mentioned.

Have you tried Piers Anthony's "Zanth" stories or McCaffrey's (early) Dragon stories. I enjoyed those too (again, as long as you avoid the later ones you'll be fine).

I love all Piers Anthony's books, the Xanth books are fun and enjoyable, but I thought the Adept books were a much more interesting read.

And the Incarnations of Immortality are a must-read for F&SF fans.

WHOA! Anthony wrote an 8th Incarnations book!?!?!?! I had no idea - Nox, the Incarnation of night. Why 17 years between books, I wonder? I hope it's not crap.
Incarnations of Immortality was a good read. I don't remember 8 books, I thought it was 5. Those books required thought, deep thought. Xanth required no thought and could be read by your average 12 year old. Not that I didn't enjoy them, but high fiction they were not.
Raymond Feist is a great read (especially his works so-authored with Janny Wurts).

The Riftwar Saga (Magician: Apprentice, Magician: Master, Silverthorne, and A Darkness at Sethanon) introduce a war between to worlds facilitated by ultra-powerful magicians on the other side. There are many others in the same series. It is definitely written on the epic scale. It was the first series that really captured my attention ending the dry spell after I read Lord of the Rings.

The Myth Series by Robert L. Asprin was great as well. Hysterically funny. Kind of like fantasy's answer to The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy.

The first one was "Another Fine Myth", and the others went on with the "Myth" pun. "Mythnomers and Impervections", "Little Myth Marker", etc.
I read Feist. Enjoyable, but not as memorable as the others I mentioned earlier. Myth series is like Xanth. Enjoyable, but not requiring much intellect. More of a comedy than a drama.

Theives world - stories written by different authors, from 1st person of the character they "own". The authors could do anything except kill off another author's character. fascinating.

A Problem with the Deadline counter.
Hi, I switched computers and something weird is happening. When I log into my account on this particular computer the Deadline counter for my games are normal for a couple of seconds and then I get "Now" instead of the time to move. Any ideas if there is a setting or something I need to change?

Austria in a Live Game
I think that the diplomacy required for Austria in a live game is overkill. It is just too easy for Russia/Turkey to split it up without even thinking... definitely the worst nation in a live game. There is too much diplomacy needed and not enough will power from other players.
