Can someone help me figure out what happened here?
In a recent game I tried to pull of a move that required me to move out of Rumania to attack Sevastopol while moving my army from Bulgaria into Rumania again, I assumed Galicia would attack Rumania so I had my ally attack him to keep his move canceled. My army got stuck in Bulgaria however.

That's all a bit convoluted, the gameID=20630 if you could just check it out and tell me what happened so I don't make the same mistake again. Thanks!

A Problem with the Deadline counter.
Hi, I switched computers and something weird is happening. When I log into my account on this particular computer the Deadline counter for my games are normal for a couple of seconds and then I get "Now" instead of the time to move. Any ideas if there is a setting or something I need to change?

I really don think you have a point in fact there. I won't get into the debate here, but I really think that post is wrong.

"Sitting around waiting for welfare" is a code word for black. Always has been, always will be. Actually it's a code word for N******. If that's not what he meant, then I apologize, but he needs to watch what he says.

And I said his POST was racist, which leaves him the opportunity to retract it. It was not an ad hominem attack on him, but on his post.

draugnar - what i don't understand is why you have to call me and jba asses? can't you just make your argument without resorting to insults? and note that jba didn't resort to insults against lode, except for accurately labeling his post (in my opinion). i have no desire to argue about race with you, we have such clearly differing views on it that such an argument would be pointless, plus that's not why i come here, but just do me a favor and be nice to people who are nice to you, ok?

All I care about the superbowl is that I know the guys who wrote the "I wear no pants" song ;)
dexter morgan (225 D(S))
08 Feb 10 UTC
@Draugnar, what if I were to talk about "those damn watermelon eating, lazy thug ass, dirty, fat lipped, etc." residents of New Orleans (which is about 85% black)? Would you give that these are code words / dog whistles for racial slurs and that one doesn't have to directly mention the race of the target to know what is being said? To infer that a slur like I describe above is intended to be for African Americans as the target is not much of a reach. Similarly, though obviously not as ugly, "they sat on their asses and waited for the welfare to roll in" is plain as day a racial slur considering the stereotypes of "lazy" and "black welfare queens" that are drummed into us year after year by bigots and the right wing. To recognize a dog whistle is not racist - it is a recognition of the existence of racism - and a complaint against it.

08 Feb 10 UTC
I will retract my "ass" comments to both JBA and DJB. But, and this is coming from the guy who asked figle to see to it that the racist "jokes" thread was removed, I did not read anything racist in that post.

That said, Lode hasn't been back to defend himself or deny the charges, so I'll stop defending him now.
dexter morgan (225 D(S))
08 Feb 10 UTC
@Draugnar, I'm 47... but was only claiming 35+ years of awareness of current events. :-)
dexter morgan (225 D(S))
08 Feb 10 UTC
@Draugnar, fair enough... certainly we're not going to always hear things the same way.
Draugnar (0 DX)
08 Feb 10 UTC
As I said, I'm no longer defending him. He can defend himself if he chooses to return to the post. At that time, I will step in and defend his right to say whatever he pleases so long as it isn't clearly defined hate speech. But until then, Lode needs to return to get that support. His firing off a comment and not defending or retracting it makes the whole community look bad.

Hey, we need to create a 40-50 game. dexter, Draugnar, me (46). Who else fits?
Draugnar (0 DX)

@dexter - then I should only claim about 26 years as I was pretty unaware until I graduated high school.

You might convince Flashman to join, but if I remember correctly, you'd have to make it 40-60.
Draugnar (0 DX)

I'd play if it is moderate points and PPSC or low points and WTA. I could use a build up of some points, but will always risk 5 or 10 on a good WTA game. Just password it and send me a link in PM!

Take it to the new thread. Long tunrs, because us older people need to thik things over slowly :-)

@Draugnar, I remember being outraged that I couldn't vote in '72 (at 10 years old)... after all, I could see what a pieces of crap Nixon and Agnew were. :-) I was precocious, what can I say. (Heck, I even remember the Chicago riots... and I was 6 when that happened).

I found this interesting passage in Wikipedia regarding the onside kick:
"Among anticipated onside kicks, between the 2005 and 2006 seasons, the onside kick was 10-for-86, less than 12%. This was before the league's rules changed to eliminate stacked formations, so that number has likely gone down even further. Surprise onside kicks, however, have had more success; in 2006, more than half of the surprise onside kicks were successful."

+1 dexter, and +1 number of successful surprise onside kicks since 2006 :)

It didn't look like it went 10 yards to me. But it did look like it bounced off the other team. That's just how I perceived it, I'm not willing to die over my perception of said event, just sharing it for whatever it is worth.

Xapi, an interception returned for a touch down (worth six points not including the extra point try or two point conversion try) is also often called a "pick six" which has a nice sound to it as well as often being a game changer as it was in this case.

Austria in a Live Game
I think that the diplomacy required for Austria in a live game is overkill. It is just too easy for Russia/Turkey to split it up without even thinking... definitely the worst nation in a live game. There is too much diplomacy needed and not enough will power from other players.
