I have a follow up question if that's ok:

What happens if:

Unit A supports Unit B, Unit B attacks Unit C, Unit C either supports an attack or attacks Unit A itself. It is sort of a circle...I am assuming nothing happens.

Unit C can't cut support for an attack on itself.

it can support an attack on unit A, but if unit b attack it C's support will be cut.

oh and the supporting convoy thing,an extra fleet support the convoy means that the convoying is less likely to be forced to retreat...

That actually depends. If Unit C supports an attack on A, Unit A will be dislodged, thereby cutting it's support of B->C, keeping C safe. If Unit C attacks without support, Unit B will dislodge Unit C because Unit C cannot cut the support without dislodging the unit in question (a unit cant' cut the support of an attack on itself unless said supporting unit is dislodged). And if Unit C attacks Unit A with support, Unit C moves to A and Unit B moves to C.

My bad, orathaic has the first one right and I have it wrong C supporting an attack on A doesn't not dislodge A, but neither is C dislodged. It's a 2 on 2 stalemate.

i think it's two 1 on 1 stalemates, but same diff.

The end result becomes two 1 on 1, but it is still two units versus two units.
