WARNING: DON'T POST ACCUSATIONS ON THE FORUM.
Just a friendly word to all: don't accuse other players of multiaccounting, metagaming, verbal abuse, etc publicly. I hate to post this up but I feel like I have to because of recent accusations flying around.
StevenC. (1047 D(B))
05 Nov 09 UTC
If you feel the need to accuse another player of metagaming, multiaccounting, etc. then e-mail the mods. Don't be an ass and put it up on the forum. And if you are going to accuse someone have some evidence first so you aren't just wasting the mods' time.

Signed,
StevenC.
Most of us know this ^_^ but to all you that don't this is nicely worded with the exception of "Don't be an ass and put itup on the forum." lol I'm sure they aren't intending on being an ass StevenC, more often than not they don't realize the repercussions of their actions. Best thing to do is just to inform them, maybe by even giving examples of how it could negatively impact an innocent person.

That's rathe obnoxious, Thucydides.

I think this means StevenC. must be a multiaccounter. ;)
(sorry, couldn't help myself)

But yes, I agree that there's no reason to post accusations on the forums, I think it's mostly people who don't know what they should do, though.

It's good that we are informing everyone, but I personally consider their accusations quite amusing. It is such a shame that we will have to wait a few days before we can laugh at more paranoid newcomers. :-(

As far as I can tell the help section mentions nothing about "not posting accusations on the forum" - no threads like this are of limited value.
Put yourself in the shoes of someone who is not a regular forum poster (the majority of users of this site) - what would you do if you felt you were being cheated. Posting on the forum is quite natural
You can say "don't post on the forum" all you like but it is likely you are wasting your time.
spyman (424 D(G))

typo... *so threads like this are a waste of time
masterninja (251 DX)

Have an email Addy in the FAQ?
That should stop anyone wasting all these threads?
And our time reading?

Btw can anyone tell me, please, the email address for the mods, as I want to pause one of my games due to a bug?
masterninja (251 DX)
06 Nov 09 UTC
Tho i take that back- there's no FAQ at the top like there is "home", "forum" "settings" etc...

If they put an FAQ there perhaps it will prevent forum spam?
spyman (424 D(G))
06 Nov 09 UTC
hi masterninja. out of curiousity, where are you in Australia? (I think you said that once) - I am in Melbourne.
Geofram (130 D(B))

If you think someone else is multiaccounting, the only way to resolve it is through the moderators, so the best method is e-mail.

If you want to publicly bash someone for something you don't agree with, such as "meta-gaming" or being an ass, well, the best, and obvious, method are these forums. Since these are hardly ever offenses warranting a ban, the most you can hope for is to get the majority mob on your side and make the accused regret whatever action you called them out on.

It is widely agreed that one should not post the names of the accused within the header or first remarks, but I am unsure of that rule's worth now that the homepage shows all posts within a thread.
Jamiet99uk (873 D)
06 Nov 09 UTC
The FAQ is in the 'help' section, masterninja.

Spyman, the mods address is [email protected]
JECE (1248 D)

Jamiet99uk: I think masterninja knew that. He just meant that newcomers might actually use it if was not hidden within the Help tab.
StevenC. (1047 D(B))
07 Nov 09 UTC
Spyman, I may be wasting my time but I'm just trying to get this message out there so even a few players that are tempted to accuse and post a fellow player's name on the forum stop themselves and do it the right way with presentable evidence.

Thanks JECE- thats exactly what i meant

You just don't stop accumulating points, do you masterninja? : )

But I guess playing only live games accelerates point increase when you are doing well in them.

Yep- just won another gunboat- and all except one win i think are from live games so 8/9

You right StevenC. While I must admit I don't feel bad for the guilty who are named and shamed in the forum, it is hard on the falsely accused.
JECE (1248 D)
07 Nov 09 UTC
Wow, masterninja is only a week and three days old? That is what one would call impressive.

spyman: Ha ha, I think you meant that you do feel bad.
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Nov 09 UTC
@JECE he had it right. He said he doesn't feel bad for the guilty who are named and shamed. I wouldn't either. They are guilty after all. Why would you feel bad for a guilty person?
JECE (1248 D)
07 Nov 09 UTC
Ah, I read that wrong. Nevertheless, it is certainly a good thing to feel bad for the gulity! My god, wound't you feel bad for someone getting tazered because of the sadistic whim of aprison gaurd or for an adolecent kicked out of his families house because of his/her affairs?
Draugnar (0 DX)
08 Nov 09 UTC
I do not feel bad for the inmate if he did something to warrant the tazer.

I only feel bad for the adolescent if he is so young his parents are committing a felony by kicking him out. That's what military schools are for...
WhiteSammy (132 D)

WhiteSammy (132 D)
08 Nov 09 UTC
well pinned with only WARNING:(rest of messge in lowe case) and with out the rest of the conversation. i think a link to the FAQ/Help tab would be a nice addition to the thread too.
Geofram (130 D(B))

I'd rather see accusation threads disappear after a few hours than see this thread at the top of my homepage every day.

This site does not function under a democracy. If you want something done that you can't do yourself you MUST petition the people in charge, and then it is out of your hands. It's called common sense.

And for god's sake stop bumping the accuser's thread, no matter what you have to say, even if it is to tell them they need to e-mail the moderators.
JECE (1248 D)
08 Nov 09 UTC
Draugnar: I thought I was clear.
Draugnar (0 DX)
08 Nov 09 UTC
In the case of the inmate, you said the sadistic whim of the guard, but I still have a hard time feeling sorry for the inmate. And I think you'll find enough controls in place in modern american prisons that the use of a tazer on the sadistic whim of a "guard" (they prefer corrections officer, by the way) is very, very rare. My brother was a corrections officer at Warren Correction Institution and Lebanon Correctional Institution in his pre-police officer career.
JECE (1248 D)
10 Nov 09 UTC
U. S. prisons? Are you kidding me? And I am only giving an example.
Draugnar (0 DX)
10 Nov 09 UTC
Yes, JECE, U.S. prisons. Despite what the disgruntled prisoners would have you believe (prison isn't a fucking country club and you ain't on house arrest, so keep your nose clean and stay out of trouble if you find yourself in there), the typical prison has safe guards to prevent inmate abuse by the corrections officers. In fact, most COs are more worried about inmate on inmate violence and keeping weapons out of inmates hands in the less than ultramax prisons. ultramax is easier cause those guys only get 1 hour a day out of their cells. When you have the populace so divided from each other and so seperated from the outside world, you can more easily control what contraband they can get ahold of. But never underestimate the inmate's resourcefulness...

Yes, the prson system in the U. S. is messed up. To be clear, my main issue is not with abuse of inmates.
Don Corleone (277 D)
10 Nov 09 UTC
? that's a lovely article JECE, but it has absolutely nothing to do with abuse of prisoners...

Article? It's a government web-site . . . and my first comment didn't even mention the U. S.

German Statistics
below i have tabulated a variety of statistics in the fourth installment of individual country statistics. for the following stats, i took a sample of 100 games of the specified type (eliminations, solos and draws) to arrive at the results. I will continue doing things in this fashion until i can actually get something together that can calculate all games.

Why are the army pieces tanks and not soldiers? I always think of tanks as a WWII thing rather than a WWI thing. Any ideas as to why tanks were chosen over soldiers?

Stats say that I resigned once when I didn't.
I believe I got the resigned thing one night when I was trying to join a live game. There were a lot of live games going on and many of them were having glitches. The game didn`t even start but I got a resigned in my stats anyway. It`s not a big deal but people might think I am a quitter so it would be nice if it was taken away.
