Quick question - I have signed up to this game but as a relative noobie to the Diplo community I have not played a 'no ingame messaging' game before. I just wanted to clarify the etiquette on this before we start. Does this mean that we are allowed to communicate via other channels such as this forum or direct mail to the other players? I assume it does because otherwise it would be mighty hard to police. In fact doesn't this form of game play simply allow experienced hands who have pre-existing relationships?

Uh, no. No in game messaging means no communiication with other players. Trying to communicate with other players through other channels is in direct violation of the rule of that game and you could be banned from the site for it, depending on the situation.

Okay - thanks for clarifying that - but am interested in knowing how that is then policed. For example many players have bio's that include links and emails to external sites. Surely the 'moderators' cannot check on such 'out of game' communications? Surely the best way to avoid the problem is by making the game anonymous?

No, no communications between the players are allowed. In-game or out-game.
Of course you COULD send PMs to the players involved, but that is outright cheating.

Anon games are vulnerable to two+ people who know each other joining up and kills everyone that way..Sure identities are revealed afterwards , but..

I've seen very little problem on this site, in regard to cheating. Checking peoples profiles would help you see if they are metaplayers , for example.

Yes I understand it is cheating and by no means am I advocating anyone doing so - but human nature being what it is 'some' people will always cheat. I was just curious as to what is done to properly police this and curious as to why - if you really wanted to ensure that no one did this - that you don't simply make the game anonymous...

Okey dokey - not trying to rock the boat or anything - just curious as I had not played this particular 'format' before and looking at the 'weighty' reputations of some of the other players who have signed up in this particular game did want to get some clarity on what the rules do and don't cover. StevenC, here is the receipe:
- Go on parental leave
- Always have 10 games in play at all times
- Only play WTA, with games ranging in about 30-60
- Win a few high points WTA games
That is it , really ;)
