Excellent live WTA game
Really nice example of how people should respond to shifting dynamics on the board, lots of fun, only a few random NMRs, and a fantastic game all around. gameID=14312

mine NMR wasn't random, i told you guys i had supper for 15mins, but turkey didn't pause
But really fun game. (great stabs, massive gains immediately followed by massive losses) as stab after stab stopped anyone breaking through the 10SC barrier.

Thanks to the other players, i had a fantastic time.

Xapi and I had positions switched from the last live game we were in, and the other recent game we were in together was a bit rough. I thought we could go far with a German/English alliance. I decided to try to limit France's early growth by proposing a bounce at Bur, but he missed the messed and I ended up in Bur instead - the first step in the end of France. I had every intention of working with Russia at some point, but he kept being quite demanding (it felt to me, probably was quite reasonable to him) so I couldn't quite get with the alliance. Add to that a burgeoning Jugglenaut, and I ended up against Russia, working closely with England and Austria.

For some reason, despite things going so well, I decided to turn on England. That was a mistake, I think. But I got really paranoid by lack of chatter from him, and a build in London when I had asked him not too. At first I brushed it off, but then decided to go for it - finally work with Russia and stab England. The whole time I had been telling Russia that I would like to work with him if conditions changed, and he said that by me being nice to him, being honest about my intentions to keep attacking him, but still talking to him was like being stabbed every turn. Ouch! That would come back to haunt me.

I also decided it was time to dispense with Austria-Hungary since he had lost all but two of his SCs. After the double stab, and getting big help from Russia, it was Russia's turn to put a knife in my back - a big one, and with Italy's help. Well done on England's part in getting them to turn on me. I think they each could have kept expanding without attacking me, but probably it was a good idea since I had become the tall poppy. But this in turn made Russia and Italy get really big.

I managed to talk Italy into attacking Russia with my help and backing off from me - meanwhile England kept helping Russia despite my offers of Brest (no jokes, please) and Norway. But in the end England got spooked (rightfully so) by the rapidly expanding Italian. I thought Russia was on board too against Italy, but between a mistake by me, and a mistake by Italy letting Russian unit behind enemy lines, Russia had a decent position too.

I managed to keep peace with Italy while fighting Russia and feeding England info so that he could get a leg up on Italy. I put off directly attacking Italy until I had Russia under control. France decided to bow out at this point, and we decided to call it a game since we all were closely on the look out for anyone getting about 10 SCs. A fantastic game.

Well, a short one from me.

As England, I made an opening to work with either France or Germany. As Germany got into Burgundy, thought it was best to stick to the winning side for the time being.

Things went well until Ms Bent stabbed me. Not her best work either, I've been in the receiving side of her stabs and they are ussually devastating.

I tried to work with Russia as soon as Germany made some moves against me, but for some reason he preferred to give two SCs away to Bent instead of taking an SC for himself.

After that Germany was pretty big and ugly (in a gaming sense I mean), so I got Italy (with whom I had been talking about attacking Bent for a while) and Russia to stab.

After the initial stab, Germany got Italy back on her side by securing a couple of SCs for him, and then it was all against Italy, except Russia and Germany who were continuing their feud in Scandinavia.

By that time, France and Austria were gone, and the deadline we had set was about to be over, so we all drew.

All in all, a great game played by a good bunch of people.

I thought it was fun, and I got deservedly annihilated. (Austria here.) Definitely the best live game I've been in, and not just because most of the others got crashed by the server.

There's only three pertinent aspects of my play. 1) I failed to bounce Turkey out of Greece, giving him a two-build first turn. 2) Alienating Italy didn't help when the Juggernaut became obvious. 3) I didn't send enough press, because I always felt the pressure of time.

Thanks for my first chance to play Austria. I mean that seriously, not as a backhanded compliment. ;-]

I, Russia, had played Russia in my last live game, in which I developed a very valuable alliance with Germany against England, so I tried to achieve a similar alliance in this game. Despite Germany sounding very enthusiastic about this
alliance, he prevented me from getting Sweden, supported England to Norway and then took Sweden himself.

Eventually I got him on my side and he stabbed England. After securing my position down south with Budapest, stabbed Germany with England's help and, in that year, almost doubled my SCs, becoming the (joint) strongest player in the game with Italy, who had capitalized from French and Austrian failings.
The next year I lost everything as I missed a move due to supper, England abandoned me to fight Germany alone, and Italy and Turkey stabbed me.
Then, naturally, i argued for the draw and we made a five way draw.

Arguably an unfinished game, but I thought it was great fun.

Anonomous games
I am too paranoid to have multi's or meta's in a game that I am joining that already has 3-4 newly joined players. If I make the game it's fine but they never fill lol. Tell me my level of paranoia lol this game is worse than how THC is portrayed.

Early phase change?
Did the system change to where if everyone finalizes, the next phase is automatically started? Even just yesterday I thought that even if all 7 players finalized, we still had to wait out the last few minutes (in a 5 minute/phase Live game).

Today on the Help->FAQs the topic about faster phases was removed and I saw something in there about how it would automatically end the phase early if everyone's finalized.

Strange Bug...
A few minutes ago I logged in and checked my in-game messages. I had three messages, clicked on the games, and read them all. Then I left and came back a few minutes and the envelope was there for the games again. I checked them, and it hadn't recorded that I had read the messages I read.

Maybe this is just a one time glitch, and if it is, I'm sorry.
