@ wellesley: by taking a player to task over it, you may be able to get them to give up valuable information in their rage, and/or base their movements on anger instead of smarts.

what is too rude depends on the individual. i have no problem with any of the insults listed above. in fact, i kinda like the third one.
apparently the facebook version does what you are talking about. i think that's really lame. if you allow yourself to be insulted by a strangers words, that's your own fault.

As far as I was aware it is the policy of the site to count such conduct as part of the game. You can say ANYTHING and act HOWEVER you wish in a game because it falls under the umbrella of 'Diplomacy'. If it has the aim to unsettle and it succeeds it is simply good Diplomacy.

Sorry Bonotow, we don't restrict what is said in-game. If he's saying these things to you, you must be doing well. If you show the other players in the game I'm sure they'll help you out as well. Swearing and cursing rarely seems to work as a tactic.

Two things to consider. If you have a Moderator for *anything* (swearing say) then, in the law of many countries, said Moderator is responsible for *everything* said. Secondly, some things you can say freely in one country are illegal and will get you jail time in another - in the UK racist language - even if not meant in a racist way - is racist if almost *any* small minded little git says he or she found it offensive, even if they are obviously only talking to score political points.

Anyone who moderates this site could be held responsible for allowing the language to be used.

Similarly, anyone who is UK based or who enters a UK controlled area (an airport say, even if just passing through) and posts or has posted racist, sexist, theist or (shortly) ageist language on this site risks arrest and a fine or jail time.
