Will username changes ever be allowed?
It would be nice, even if it were time-limited (once a year, or so). Our profile pages could list previous aliases in an FKA list so that you could tell who others were.

Or tell me why it's a very bad idea! Bonus points for wanton indignation.

Game 11675, Gentlemen - DRAW outcome please
Can someone please check this game out and make it a DRAW. England and Germany have a perpetual stalemate line, and have both voted for DRAW. Turkey refuses to acknowledge the DRAW and wants to play on.
Is there any way this can be adjuticated by a higher authority ?

Why isn't a player's IP address shown next to his username?
There are often accusations of multi-accounting, and it's still too easy to get away with it--or, more importantly, to suspect others erroneously. If admins are likely to respond to these accusations by examining IP addresses, why can't the website show each player's IP address to the other players playing with him?

Why is it that convoys can cover unlimited distances?
I mean, I know it's always been part of the rules, and I know that the game is abstract, and not meant to be realistic, but does anyone know why the game was originally designed so that convoys could go all the way round the board? Why is it not limited to, say, 2 or 3 fleets?

To plagarise an idea that came up a while ago, you should tattoo yourself with you favourite ever win.

Actually, I thought about getting a prison tat with "Exit only" across my butt cheeks. (should I ever be arrested, that is).

Then, I realised that prisoners usually break rules, so....

You clearly put enter only, and pull psychology on them:]
I just got an awesome tattoo of a giant fire-breathing eagle spreading his wings across my face. He's clutching my moustache in one claw and the other grabs my cheek piercing which links to my nipple. --George W Bush

Well I can give you the advice of not mutilating your body permanently to help destroy your job market chances while also creating some self-loathing when you are old and the ink has faded and your skin is more wrinkled. But thats just me.
Onar (131 D)
17 Jul 09 UTC
Your chances in the job market are really only affected if you get a tattoo somewhere you can't hide easily. You'll only feel self-loathing if you don't put any thought into it first.
Centurian (3257 D)
17 Jul 09 UTC
Agreed Onar. Although personally I wouldn't get a tattoo at all, you should definitely do your best to hide it and to not make it a common cliche that just looks cool. Imagine yourself when you are 45 and showing it to your kids.
Ten years ago, it was true that tattoos were not welcome in corporate offices. But now, at least where I work (Toronto), they are taken for granted. As long as they aren't on your face, and don't have profanity, they are seen as pretty harmless. In fact it's almost conformist to have one. I guess the other corporate taboo is still the full arm "sleeve" if you wear clothes that reveal it.

Actually, I want to know what else you have, too.

From what I hear, tattoos can be addictive, and that's why I'm hesitant about getting one.

Our office has rules about visible tatoos we recently had to enforce on a member of our Senior Leadership team. She had a tramp stamp and was wearing blouses that allowed her back to be seen.
Onar (131 D)

@onar yes they are very addictive but in a good way if that makes sense

"Ten years ago, it was true that tattoos were not welcome in corporate offices. But now, at least where I work (Toronto), they are taken for granted."

First off, I'm also in Toronto, though I'm going to Calgary for a month tomorrow. There are a bunch of other people on this site from Toronto and surrounding area if you're ever interested in trying to set up a face to face game. I've got board. =)

Oh, and I know of many work places that still do not allow tattoos, especially visible tattoos. Canada's Wonderland for example.
@Chrispminis, I don't get a lot of face to face time, which is why I really enjoy this site. I have played more "board games" here in the last month, then I normally play in a year. But I would be interested in trying to set something up. On topic: I am a bit surprised about Wonderland, but I know bank VPs with tats.

Tramp stamp?
OMGNSO (415 D)
19 Jul 09 UTC
Its a tattoo on the lower back just above the pants, (or shirts or skirt or whatever) that is usually gotten by young and attractive women, and is seen as somewhat slutty. Hence the name, tramp stamp. At least that is the impression here in the states.

Problem with Ghost Rankings
It counts variants... I play a lot of variants which aren't really true to the game. Some people (like me) are disproportionally good at variants. Variants tend to be played by people that read the forums. People that read the forums tend to have higher (Ghost)ratings. IMHO, it would be better for variants to be taken out of Ghost Rankings, especially as they, in general, are more likely to end in draws.
