The Official Bailout Game

The two offending players are "1 800 sniffy" and "B-ryce". They have admitted to being friends and they proclaim that their alliance is unbreakable. Here is the evidence from B-ryce's mouth (he is the second line, I the first):

Tue 04 AM Autumn 1909: Why do you let sniffy be such an asshole? Would anything turn you against him?
Tue 09 PM Autumn 1909: go fuck yourself ...he's like my best friend does that answer your question

My posting this accusation (which will hopefully be supported by whalen and Caedus), will cause them to accuse me of "crying", "masturbating", and just generally being a "fucker" of some variety, so I hope this bears action of some sort since I don't much appreciate the remarks, as I'm sure the gallery will understand. Whalen and Caedus, if you have any other incriminating evidence, please post it here.

These two were called out several weeks ago when they first joined...nothing was done :(

But I had thought they (at least sniffy) had agreed to not play with pre-conceived alliances...Shockingly, it seems we were duped.

Yeah I know that there was an earlier hubbub about it. We all believed that they could hold their cheap giggles in and play like gentlemen, but apparently the desire to winwinwin got the best of them. More likely, they never intended to play fair from the beginning.

I support Jerkface's accusations. They have acted very immature and have cursed out all three of us. I don't know what the rules are about cursing but if there are, they have crossed it a while ago

I've written about this a couple of times, and I simply don't know what to do beyond that. I've simply abandoned my position in the game as I can't think of a reason to continue playing while being verbally abused and having no hope of breaking up a pre-arranged alliance. Again, as I've said before, this has been my only negative experience on this site, and it has been overwhelmingly negative.

I don't necessarily support rules about vulgarity since it could have its place in a good game. However, these two clowns are just being plain obnoxious with no pretense whatsoever of any diplomatic motives. Perhaps if someone is clearly just being vulgar for vulgarity's sake, and there is no way it could be taken to have any diplomatic merit at all, then they should get a severe beating or finger wagging or punch in the face or something.

My view is that ingame you should be allowed to say whenever you like. However, there are a large number of things, of which bad language is one, that will do nothing but turn other players against you.

I'd be interested to hear a situation where vulgarity is diplomatically expedient. I'm not saying such a situation doesn't exist, but I can't really think of one.

I can see vulgarity used diplomatically if you're trying to get someone to come after you... but that's about it.

Yeah, let's let mob rule have its way on this one. Seriously, if anybody in the least bit reputable can stand up for sniffy and say he or she had a decent game with him, speak up. Otherwise, I believe we should throw him overboard.

As for vulgarity being used diplomatically, I'm simply trying to keep an open mind about the possibilities here. But, whatever, we seem to have a consensus on this whole ordeal with these two players.

Fair Play?

I have missed a turn, so one of my oppenent's took advantage of that, and captured one of my centers. If that turn was not missed, there would be no chance to capture it.So I asked him to let me take that center back, because I think it fair play. For me, the point is to win by diplomacy not by an opponent's missed turn. Do you think that "Fair Play" has no position in Diplomacy? Am I "too fair" ?

An unrelated question.

This arose from the "How old are you?" thread: If you were born on, say, 4th April at 8pm, in the UK, and then moved to Bejing, would you start saying that your birthday was 5th April, because of the +8 time zone chance making it 4am on the 5th that you were born?

Strange moves...

I somehow doubt this is actual metagaming, but I figured I'd post it just cause it's quite strange. Austria and I (and to some extent Italy) agree that something is weird here.

Rules Question: Mutual support-Holds?

Can I have two adjacent countries Support Hold on each other? For instance, if I were Budapest and Vienna with enemies in Trieste and Galicia, could I have Budapest and Vienna Support Hold each other so that whichever territory is left alone lends its Support to the assailed one?
