Clever Strategy
I can't take credit for this strategy, but I have seen it, and I have to admit its a winner. There are five simple steps.

Fair Play?
I have missed a turn, so one of my oppenent's took advantage of that, and captured one of my centers. If that turn was not missed, there would be no chance to capture it.So I asked him to let me take that center back, because I think it fair play. For me, the point is to win by diplomacy not by an opponent's missed turn. Do you think that "Fair Play" has no position in Diplomacy? Am I "too fair" ?

An unrelated question.
This arose from the "How old are you?" thread: If you were born on, say, 4th April at 8pm, in the UK, and then moved to Bejing, would you start saying that your birthday was 5th April, because of the +8 time zone chance making it 4am on the 5th that you were born?

Strange moves...
I somehow doubt this is actual metagaming, but I figured I'd post it just cause it's quite strange. Austria and I (and to some extent Italy) agree that something is weird here.

Russia backstabs Turkey in 1904, but Turkey destroys the armies and fleets closest to his home centres and proceeds to move away from Russia?
figlesquidge (2131 D)

That does look rather strange doesn't it.
However, to find more information about this it would be nice to be able to access the transcripts of their conversation. It could be many things, such as maybe Russia tricked Turkey with a claim that if he removed any threat Russia would let him live. It is not uncommon for stabbed allies to realign their standings, but to do so to this degree does seem a little odd.

I think Turkey may have ended up on the wrong side of a Janissary arrangement.

What's a Janissary arrangement?
lolz (100 D)
26 Oct 08 UTC
Also, I don't think they're multiaccounts - Turkey is simply...dumb. Acheron, it doesn't matter if you reveal the conversations now since Turkey is going to die anyways and no one can prevent it - so why don't you post the conversations?

Janissary is where a weak country is basically "front line soldiers" for a strong one. They help prevent standoffs, and are allowed to keep 2-3 supply centers as they move forward. It is usually used with Turkey as the stronger power, when Austria or Italy is about to die.
Pandarsenic (1485 D)
26 Oct 08 UTC
Janissary basically means a power who doesn't have as good access to an area drives a weakened power in front of him, taking one of that player's old SCs each time the prisoner-player gets a new one. In exchange, the Janissary almost certainly get a Survive or a Draw.
Pandarsenic (1485 D)
26 Oct 08 UTC
Oh. Hey. Thanks, rratclif.

But yeah, if Russia decided to get Turkey going through to Austria and/or Italy, that would've made sense, but since that didn't appear to have happened at all...
Acheron (100 D)

If you want to start pointing fingers for whatever reason you can think of, jeesh, I could just as easily point one at you.

Why would you point out how many builds I get? That makes no sense, except to maybe get people to ally against me, but then YOU have more SCs than I do. Oh, wait, look...Turkey responded one minute after you and just happens to support your crazy theory that he is my multi-account. Coincedence? I hope not.

Furthermore, I am your major opponent in this game, so it would benefit you more than I to have a multi-account there and in an alliance with me so that you could stab me easily later-on.

Now, I'm not saying you and crashnct are in fact multis, jeesh, I'm just using this argument as an example to show that your claims don't hold a lot of water. This is Diplomacy. Stabs are going to happen, and the people who get stabbed aren't always going to see it coming, so just because Turkey didn't move to counter my stab doesn't mean we are the same person.

Broken Game(s) What do we do
I took over another country that had not moved in 1901. When I looked closely there were basically 3 countries that hardly moved in 1901. This is what I call a broken game.http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=6300
