SANDCASTLE to kick down - multi-accounter
I wonder how many accounts THIS time?
ProsperityY!PP and Exponentialdecay are clearly the same person:

1. The Same log-on times
2. exponentialdecay joined the very day after ProsperityY!PP
3. ProsperityY!PP is playing in four out of five of Exponentialdecay's games
4. Very suspicious press indicating same player in M Kahunas 2 game- When I as Russia attacked Turkey, France of all people started threatening me.

It must be said, he is a very skilled tactician, its a shame that he has turned to dishonorable means to win his games.

Kestas, PLEASE KICK DOWN HIS SANDCASTLE !! :)

Retreats before a country is eliminated
Say a player has one unit left. In an autumn turn, the player's last SC is taken and his unit is dislodged. Shouldn't that player have the opportunity to retreat into another SC?

For instance, see this game:
http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=5217
Italy was dislodged from Tyrrhenian in Autumn 1904 and could have retreated into Rome but was not given an opportunity to.

Too bad people feel they have to do this. I wonder how many games are won because of this practice. I just want to enjoy a good game, and it kind of riuns it if you are playing against 2 or 3 opponents that are the same person :(

Two quick questions
1) If all players have finalized their orders except for one who is in CD, does that hold up the completion of the turn until the timer runs out?

2) Has any seen Kestas lately? (heard from, read a post, etc)

Supporting the support?
Hello everybody

on the actual board game instruction manual (50th anniversary edition, p.9) it says: "Support can be offensive (...) or defensive (supporting a hold, support or convoy order)".

However, I could not find any reference on how a "support to support" is done, and what is the mechanism behind it...

Anybody available to help or point me to the right online page/article?

EOG "Thank God I'm a Straight Man" - Making the Key work
A month or so ago, there was a thread in this forum called "Making the Key work", wich was basically about the Key Lepanto, and asking why, according to the poster, the Key was rarely used, and even rarelier did it actually work.

I was just getting started in the game, but it got me reading on some opening theory, and I have to say I fell in love with the Key almost instantly.

I got Italy in my next game, so I just had to try it. This game came to an end yesterday, and in the next post is my EOG statement.

it's not like I'm on welfare or get food stamps.

it would be ironic if I was running for office

DeliciousWolf (112 D)

No, no, we must take all measures to ensure our financial 'system' survives. It occurs to me that this 'system' has long functioned to effectively pay a large number of brilliant people very large amounts of short-term money (high paid fresh-faced ivy-league wall-streeters) to come up with new imaginative ways ('financial engineering') to defraud ordinary people out of their wealth, consistently based on using alluring gains and easy credit. When the alluring gains fail to continue to materialize, the financial schema collapse, leaving the wealth at the top, the middle and lower-classes poorer, and all the wall-streeters with pink slips. However, we never let this system collapse, and almost always bail out the pyramids of the wealthy, so that this process can continue. We call this our financial 'system'.
DeliciousWolf (112 D)
21 Sep 08 UTC
I'm thinking here of the credit-bubbles of the 1920's leading to 1929, the crash of 1987, the S&L debacle, the Internet crash, and now the Housing Crisis. I could list more.
Sicarius (673 D)

I'm not reffering to our financial system or economy. I mean our civilization as a whole. will. collapse.
Jerkface (1626 D)
21 Sep 08 UTC
Why are you so obsessed with the collapse of civilization? It would seem to be much more worrisome for you to know that YOU will collapse in 50-100 years, if not sooner. YOU were not designed to live forever so why should our society have been? Nobody can predict the future so how can you blame the world you grew up in for not planning hundreds of years into the future? Sounds like you better start believing in a god, quickly!
Sicarius (673 D)

Sicarius (673 D)

saying even if what is happening now was unforseeable (which I dont think it was) then I think at least now peope shoul dbecome more aware of it
Jerkface (1626 D)
22 Sep 08 UTC
So... if you make it to 90 ripe years of age, are you going to start panicking? Will you drink every youth-potion you can get your hands on? I think society has had a great run and there's no way of predicting how it will go from here. Exciting!
Sicarius (673 D)

I'm not looking to extend the life-span of civilization.

"...besides even if I did leech from the government that wouldnt be ironic, I hate the government, why would it be bad for me to manipulate them for my own survival "

Because by costing the government you aren't hurting government officials, you are incurring costs on honest hardworking citizens. Corporations and governments aren't the ones that bare the burden of thieves. Its just worked into costs. Does that not make you feel bad at all Sicarius?
DeliciousWolf (112 D)

Does anyone else sense, as I do from friends/family/media that the talk of 'Revolution' is in the air? People are getting that upset and desperate. If this election is stolen once again, it will begin with street protests...
Sicarius (673 D)
22 Sep 08 UTC
if obama gets elected, i can see the liberals getting disillusioned with the systwm as their shining star does nothing
if mccain gets elected things will probably be more serious, as it will possibly be a rigged election.
oh and if mccain gets elected several parts of the country are going to secede from the united states, forcibly, with arms
Centurian (3257 D)
22 Sep 08 UTC
Thats not true Sicarius and you didn't answer my question
Chrispminis (916 D)
23 Sep 08 UTC
Alright, Sicarius, I'll bet you 100$ that if McCain gets elected that no state will secede from the United States, let alone forcibly.
Thucydides (864 D(B))
23 Sep 08 UTC
1) How can they. The liberals don't keep or bear arms. They rely on the military, which would be controlled by McCain.

2) Sicarius you should run for office. It is neither hippocritical nor ironic. It is the right thing to do. Create a party, run for office on your platform, which is the dismantling of the government. There really is nothing wrong with that at all. The anarcho-primitivist party.
Jerkface (1626 D)
23 Sep 08 UTC
Chris, I'd rather bet Sicarius his ideology than some amount of money. If his crystal ball proves false and the union is intact after McCain is elected (if that comes to pass) he should drop his alarmist ideology and rejoin society as a good, hardworking sludge-shoveler.
Chris Cross (100 D)
23 Sep 08 UTC
no states will secede kuz the media is controlled...there may be a riot in a few city's but no other city will hear about it...they will just say everything is fine....what has to be done first is the media dismantled or at least get there hands out of the politicians pockets
Sicarius (673 D)
23 Sep 08 UTC
No it doesnt make me feel bad. the vast majority, something like 99% of my food and such is dumpstered, aka you already threw it away I'm not stealing anything. even if I did I still wouldnt feel bad, the governent steals billions from its citizens my food stamps or welfare or anything I could be on is unfairly passed on to the citizens in the 1st place, like when they steal pensions and social security to finance wars and etc etc
anyway the point is moot, because I'm NOT receiving any help from the government. I dont get food stamps or free health care or go to soup kitchens or anything.
so all due respect dude, shut up

@ the rest
I never said a state would secede.
What I was specifically referring to, although its bigger than quite a few states, is not actually a state, though it is encompassed by few.
and I also never said it was liberals doing it.
I cant see liberals getting 250,000 ak-47,s or raiding military boneyards for .50 cals etc
this really isnt up for disscussion. if McCain is elected, they will secede. they're prepared and willing and pissed off.

that said, I've personally talked to the militias of no less than 5 U.S. states who are planning just such a thing. that I'm much less sure about, cuz well they're state militias and some of them are kinda wacked out and tend toward delusional fantasies.
DrOct (219 D(B))
23 Sep 08 UTC
@Sicarius.

Ha! I certainly hope McCain doesn't win, but not for that reason.

I'm curious as to how you know this? Who is going to be doing the "seceding?" Where will it be? Should I be worried about finding myself in a warzone come inauguration day? Because regardless of the reason for it, I think I'd rather be somewhere else if that's going to happen.

How do they have the numbers and weapons necessary to do this without anyone, but apparently you, knowing about it?

And exactly what do you mean by "state militias?" The only officially sanctioned state militias I know of within the US are National Guard units, and all the others I know of are small and ineffectual, and/or filled with nut-jobs.

I suppose it's basically harmless, but just when you had started to get me to take you seriously you start saying things like this...
Sicarius (673 D)
23 Sep 08 UTC
I know it because I'm helping

where do you live?
I dont think anyone here lives there, but I know some live very near

I'm not the only one who knows about it. I'm just the only one childish enough to be playing an internet game in the midst of so much more important shit.

I mean the non santioned ones. I'm not terribly concerned about them at all, they wont initiate anything I'm sure. but when the shit starts to hit the fan in 2 months, and a much larger scale in 1-2 years, they'll join in too.

as far as the army and national guard goes they know shit is about to go down. in a few days major combat units are being deployed within the U.S.
Sicarius (673 D)
23 Sep 08 UTC
weapons are easy to get man. as far as bodies, lots of dissidents in the U.S. are willing to jump in, as well as forgein groups liek the zapatistas that are already sending people
not to mention everyone who already lives there
DrOct (219 D(B))
24 Sep 08 UTC
Well I live in the Washington DC area. Should I be concerned?

For someone who earlier claimed to have been investigated by the FBI you sure are talking fast and loose about a supposed impending armed uprising, that you claim to be involved in. Aren't you worried about people taking action against you beforehand?

Hell maybe you're right, maybe some serious shit is about to go down, hopefully not. I certainly hope, for MANY reasons, McCain won't win and we won't ever have to know if you're just making this stuff up or not.

If anyone reads about any raids or arrests related to a planned "uprising" or something and Sicarius suddenly stops posting and playing... I guess we'll know what happened!
Sicarius (673 D)
24 Sep 08 UTC
well me being looked at by the FBI was for RNC stuff. so I doubt they're gonna track an email address thats not related to me and read all my postings on a game site, especially since thousands came to the rnc.
so I dont think matt mayer my friendly neighborhood agent is reading this.
2nd, I really doubt I'm high profile enough to warrant that kind of investigation. and if I am (which is possible by associations, thou maybe not any actions that are my own) then its already too late to worry about being careful
3rd it's not a secret really. it's been talked about, though not 'publically' in relatively unsecured events, such as the northwest climate convergence, great lakes anarchist gathering, and northwest climate convergence to name a few.

and after all that, yeah I'm still a little worried, especially with a few very very disturbing signs and rumors. such as the 'red list' being taken down srtarting in oct, the army being deployed domestically, in both georgia, and in colorado springs. the latter I only found out because I happen to be in denver, they're training right now in less lethal weapons, and probably goose-stepping and hile-ing or something.

I wouldnt be terribly concerned, besides the fact that DC is never really safe. I'm in denver and I actually seen some dude have a shootout with police liek half a block away from me a few hours ago. crazy. tangent, sorry.

hey feel free to think I'm making this up, actually go ahead, I"m just some crazy mixed up kid with high expectations and a keyboard, what do I know?
but dont dissmiss it, research it. look into things. how many people knew about the domestic deployment before i told them? I'm just saying pay attention and I fucking know you'll start seeing the shit all around.

I know I prolly sound like I"m a paranoid conspiracy theorist or something, but thats just how crazy it all is.
so please, assume I'm crazy, but keep your eyes open.

especially if you live in the southwest.
Sicarius (673 D)
24 Sep 08 UTC
I said northwest climate convergence twice.
one of those was supposed to be crimethinc convergence.
but I've heard the rumblings of this for awhile, form alot of places.
one guy from south africa knew about it. crazy.

Riddle me this?
Ok, if a game cost 101 points to join (presumably to stop total beginners that haven't won a game from joining), then 5 people join and the pre-game starts, how much does it cost to take over a CD Italy or Germany?

According to my calculations, 96 points.

Not sure how or why...

Not being all sooky-gripey-blah-blah. I'm happy to have players join to make up the numbers and not have CD countries. Just curious as to the calculations...

Discussion anyone?
