NHL sucks
I honestly challenge anyone who obviously knows nothing about hockey to keep high morale when the refs are literally maliciously trying to throw the game. I've never seen worse reffing in a series, and anyone who doesn't realize these are humans that actually get effected when the ref delibrately tries to blow a series against your team, should realize that it makes your team feel like they are skating though glue.

How can I become a crappier person
I have recently been told that I am funny, kinda weird, a stalker, spammy, and an artistic twat. Do you fellows at WebDiplomacy observe these traits about me? How can I become the worst me possible? What tips and advice can you offer? How can I become a shit human? This is a serious thread and I want to become even worse than I am.

Draws are for sissies. Who would like to join me in a game where, by agreement of all participants, no "Draw" votes shall be permitted?

I think it'll be fun.

You discover a map to buried treasure
There is a catch. While visiting neighors you find the map in the hands of their infant son. The treasure is likely real as youd heard of the map and its fabled promise. The problem is not just that a child is holding the map- its that the family desperately would need the treasure to pay off their debts or they may end up on the streets starving. However you also know the babys mother and father gamble, drink and are rather unsavory. What do you do?

New robot!
There's a new robot called the omnibus that does all the work that needs to be done -- faster, cheaper, and more accurately than any human can do. Wrinkle: only one person owns it. Is this a problem or a blessing?

Three Build England, possiblility and effect on game play.
As far as I know, there is only 1 set of moves that gives England 3 1901 builds, what if in a real game, England, Germany, Russia, and France must complete those moves, what will be the diplomatic effect in game?

What makes someone terrible at playing diplomacy
I was wondering if personality traits can make it harder for someone to ever get good at this game. I consider myself pretty average if not mediocre at diplomacy for a number of reasons.

Diplomacy: Is Germany Too Weak?
I noticed that Germany is considerably weaker in Diplomacy than it's historical counterpart. In game, Germany can very easily be knocked out by England and France. However, historically Germany was able to fight competently on three separate fronts. Does anybody feel that Germany is a little misrepresented in game?

Coup in North Korea
I was trying to think why Trump would engage in such brinksmanship with North Korea. Sure, it could be just more inexperience, etc, but then I was thinking that maybe the goal is to scare the generals there so much that someone bumps off the Great Leader. Then I started thinking, that's probably why he rubbed out his half-brother recently.

Hauta (1618 D(S))

I don't think there have been too many coup attempts because the purges are so frequent that there is a lot of paranoia among the generals. They don't want to risk talking/confiding to an informant. But if a hot war seems likely and the Chinese are fleeing the country (or at least stopping flights and turning back coal shipments), someone might try to get the job done.
I honestly don't think its a bluff. I think Trump actually intends to conduct military strikes to disable and disrupt their missile program.

Because it doesn't really matter if they have nukes if they don't have a delivery system. Kinda scared for South Korea though.

Let's look at this logically. Brinksmanship in this case has 3 outcomes.
A) War with North Korea.
B) Coup in North Korea followed by War
C)Coup in North Korea followed by peace.

The thing is even if a coup happens it is far more likely that to legitimize their authority the individual or group would start a war with South Korea.
TrPrado (461 D)
16 Apr 17 UTC
The nuclear test failed. North Korea doesn't want to follow a military failure up with a fight that would emphasize that failure.
Hauta (1618 D(S))
16 Apr 17 UTC
D) Coup, followed by civil war in North Korea as probably only a small handful of generals participated in the coup (to keep it a secret). Unless there is near unanimity at the top, there will be 2 factions: coup plotters and loyalists.

@ goldie

The North Koreans have several delivery systems. They can use nukes as defensive mines, like those proposed in operation Blue Peacock back in the 50s. They can load a nuke into an aircraft and drop it. They can load a nuke into a boat or sub and detonate it when it reaches a port or naval task force.

As things stand I'd say that the aircraft method, unless the North Koreans have some far better planes than I've seen evidence of, will be ineffective. I would be surprised if nuclear mines haven't been deployed in several strategic locations, however.

The delivery by sea option is intriguing. The North Koreans apparently have submarines good enough at avoiding detection to successfully sink South Korean military ships before they can retaliate. I suspect a Yank fleet could detect and sink them, but are Korean ports sufficiently defended?

The North Koreans could also just put one in a fishing boat and sail it towards an enemy port, disguised as defectors trying to escape the country. There is evidence that suggests that this could be a lot easier to pull off than you might expect.

China can't afford to sit on its hands and let the US do what it wants ..

Remember China is invested heavily in the Sth China sea ,,

China has successfully manipultaed world trade markets to be vulnerable to Chinese influence..

China are allowing the US enough rope using Nth Korea as bait to catch a big Trump fishy...PS they already have more credability than Russia on the world stage..

China will use economic attack to cripple the US ..Ie UN sactioned trade embargos would hurt the US more than China..

Traditional allies like Australia would be caught squarely in the middle ..

US agression Nth Korea paranoia ..= China as the moderator with enough influence politically in Nth Korea to organise an effective Coup..and enough economic power to disadvantage the US,,especailly with an Isolationist president who is trying to be iosloationist by inneffective brigmans ship with a Nth Korea nut bag ??

Well played China well played..

Im brushing up on my madarine and cantonese.

I'm not sure it's as important as it looks. The same brinkmanship was practised at this time of year by Obama as well, except with a bit less ignorant rhetoric and less reporting in the press. CommanderByron, the outcome you didn't identify, which is the most likely (but by no means assured) outcome in my opinion, is a continuation of the status quo.
Octavious (2732 D)
16 Apr 17 UTC
The flaw in the status quo argument is that the continued nuclear development means there really isn't one. Like a cliff being eroded by the sea, the only certainty is that if you do nothing eventually shits going to come down. The Presidential policy thus far has revolved around the notion that if we're lucky it won't happen on his watch and it'll become someone else's problem, and if we're really lucky a dream solution will present itself. That cannot continue indefinitely.

Sean Spicer won't say if US sabotaged NK missile test:

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/sean-spicer-wont-say-if-us-sabotaged-north-koreas-missile-test/article/2620431

But China could have done it too. Apparently, they supply parts to the missile program:

https://www.thestar.com/news/world/2017/04/13/salvaged-parts-show-chinese-firms-supplied-key-components-for-north-koreas-rocket-program.html

Wouldn't it be smart if China, seeking to tamp down tensions, had a programmatic kill switch, much the same way the Russians do on the nuclear reactors they built for Iran?
Octavious (2732 D)
17 Apr 17 UTC
Erm, no?

If I was nervous about my neighbour going crazy and shooting up the place, selling him a gun with a remote control off switch and hoping he doesn't figure out how to remove it ain't smart. Quite the opposite, in fact. The smart play, unsurprisingly enough, is not selling him a gun.

"rolling dices"?
I just won a 1v1 against CptMike, however he was getting really angry at me, saying he does not want me to join any more games that he has created, accusing me of "rolling dices". What happened according to me is that I lured him into trying for Munich in Autumn 01, then bouncing him out of there and basically leaving him with only one build.
