NHL sucks
I honestly challenge anyone who obviously knows nothing about hockey to keep high morale when the refs are literally maliciously trying to throw the game. I've never seen worse reffing in a series, and anyone who doesn't realize these are humans that actually get effected when the ref delibrately tries to blow a series against your team, should realize that it makes your team feel like they are skating though glue.

How can I become a crappier person
I have recently been told that I am funny, kinda weird, a stalker, spammy, and an artistic twat. Do you fellows at WebDiplomacy observe these traits about me? How can I become the worst me possible? What tips and advice can you offer? How can I become a shit human? This is a serious thread and I want to become even worse than I am.

Win Or Bust
Draws are for sissies. Who would like to join me in a game where, by agreement of all participants, no "Draw" votes shall be permitted?

I think it'll be fun.

You discover a map to buried treasure
There is a catch. While visiting neighors you find the map in the hands of their infant son. The treasure is likely real as youd heard of the map and its fabled promise. The problem is not just that a child is holding the map- its that the family desperately would need the treasure to pay off their debts or they may end up on the streets starving. However you also know the babys mother and father gamble, drink and are rather unsavory. What do you do?

New robot!
There's a new robot called the omnibus that does all the work that needs to be done -- faster, cheaper, and more accurately than any human can do. Wrinkle: only one person owns it. Is this a problem or a blessing?

Three Build England, possiblility and effect on game play.
As far as I know, there is only 1 set of moves that gives England 3 1901 builds, what if in a real game, England, Germany, Russia, and France must complete those moves, what will be the diplomatic effect in game?

So guys, as some of you know I can be a bit of a troll on the forums. This also tends to mean I'm a bit of a troll on other internet platforms that aren't webdip. One of them being tinder. This time I thought it would be hilarious to make this my bio and see what happens: http://imgur.com/tW86lIi

What makes someone terrible at playing diplomacy
I was wondering if personality traits can make it harder for someone to ever get good at this game. I consider myself pretty average if not mediocre at diplomacy for a number of reasons.

Diplomacy: German Openings
What are some common German openings in Diplomacy? And which opening do you recommend for Germany?
SuperMario0727 (204 D)

Personally, I have seen the Blitzkrieg Opening played the most--A(Ber)-Kie, F(Kie)-Den, and A(Mun)-Ruh. But I feel that that opening can be a little too aggressive, since it can viewed by other Great Powers as an attempt to get three builds.

I like to NMR in Spring 1901. It gets England and France to fight each other.

Sounds like a Schlieffen Plan to me. Ha-ha! I have actually seen that opening played. I'm assuming that it requires an alliances with England, however.

You, my friend, have said one of the most intelligent and inspiring things that I have every heard. Very creative and new. I have read a lot of articles on German openings, but you are the only one who said something that clever.

There are some drawbacks to this idea, like risking Denmark or Holland. But it might actually work.

^Definitely a go to right there, strategic nmrs are always encouraged early on. Another go to is the austrian vassal opening where you move mun-tyr, ber-sil, kie-den and austria moves vie-gal with support from bud and ven holds. Meanwhile you convince italy ro go after turkey and tell turkey that he is facing an aggressive italy. Also tell russia england is gunning for him so he sends moscow north. Then in the autumn you bounce russia in sweden, austria supports sil-war and tyr-ven while you convince england and france to fight each other in the west. Trust me, 60% of the time, it works every time...

Sounds very elaborate and intricate, which isn't bad. But a lot of intricate plans require intricate players, and I don't know how many you're going to encounter. If you have any games that illustrate this plan, I'd love to see them.

I'm really fascinated with the strategic NMR, even though it only works in postal play. Nonethless, any further information on this subject would be much appreciated.

NMR as Germany is silliness. England opens to NTh/NWG 80%+ which means he looks to gobble you most likely.

Only strategic NMR I like/have seen successful is Italy followed by taking Trieste. Really any NMR in full press is a waste of progress. I've only seen this work in GBs mostly live. Have to have poor RT players or they just turn it into a jugg and kill you.

A(Ber)-Kie, F(Kie)-Den, and A(Mun)-Ruh is seen as too greedy - trying for 3 builds?

When I try for 3 builds, I open Ber-Kie, Kie-Hol, Mun-Ruh.. It rarely works.
Dejan0707 (1608 D)

I am very sceptic about any NMR tactic. It just sounds wrong to intentionaly not move. With that in mind nature of the game is such that every strategy including this one could in some cuircumstances work.

My problem with NMRs is that your RR goes down, so I would never consider it on this site.

In full press games I sometimes like to open with Kie-Den, Ber-Kie and Mun-Sil.
If press indicates that England and France will probably fight (it helps if you offer Belgium to both of them), and convince France to ally with you during spring negotiations ...
I tried it in this game: gameID=145499
France's self-support into Bur in spring 01 was agreed on, but in autumn I sold it to Russia as a broken DMZ agreement and simultaneously blamed France for my presence in Silesia (I said France would have given me intel that lead me to expect a Russian attack). I apologized and pretended to want to move back into Munich to cover my home centers ...

Some time ago, I read an article about a gunboat strategy called the centrifuge. I can't find the article anymore, but (if I remember correctly) it opened with Ber->Pro, Kie->Baltic & Mun->Kie with autumn continuation Pru -> convoy to Denmark & Kie->Hol. While I doubt this unorthodox move set will be very productive in gunboat, with the right press, they might have some value in a full press game
SuperMario0727 (204 D)

@Sevyas
I know about the Centrifuge, but I'd never try it. It's just one of those ambitious, pompous openings that's often very impractical and attention-grabbing. It's no better than the Panther Opening, which I bet no one has heard of because of how silly it is.

Diplomacy: Is Germany Too Weak?
I noticed that Germany is considerably weaker in Diplomacy than it's historical counterpart. In game, Germany can very easily be knocked out by England and France. However, historically Germany was able to fight competently on three separate fronts. Does anybody feel that Germany is a little misrepresented in game?

Coup in North Korea
I was trying to think why Trump would engage in such brinksmanship with North Korea. Sure, it could be just more inexperience, etc, but then I was thinking that maybe the goal is to scare the generals there so much that someone bumps off the Great Leader. Then I started thinking, that's probably why he rubbed out his half-brother recently.

"rolling dices"?
I just won a 1v1 against CptMike, however he was getting really angry at me, saying he does not want me to join any more games that he has created, accusing me of "rolling dices". What happened according to me is that I lured him into trying for Munich in Autumn 01, then bouncing him out of there and basically leaving him with only one build.
