So, here's my suggestion: you can vote 'concede', just as you would vote 'draw', 'pause' or 'cancel'. Importantly, like the normal voting system, issuing a vote to concede doesn't mean you don't have to enter orders. However, if everybody except one player concedes, he wins the game. Or, if all remaining players vote either 'draw' or 'concede', the game ends and the winnings split by the players who voted 'draw'. In PPSC, the points would of course be split by number of SC's. By the way, like 'draw' votes, 'concede' votes are not permanent.
For example, suppose there are 5 players left: three major ones and two minors. The major powers vote 'draw' and the minors 'concede'. Then the game is a three-way draw, the two eliminated players get a defeat on their record, and the two conceding players get a 'survive'.
There are a few scenario's where this extra option would improve gameplay:
- In a live game, if you know you're losing and just want to finish the game as quickly as possible (and get some sleep). You can vote to concede, and maybe the rest will be happy to draw.
- If you're playing a gunboat and have to leave due to real-life stuff, you can vote 'concede', so the others can all draw and start a new game.
- In longer games, it might become obvious that someone will solo, or that a draw is imminent. Playing out those remaining moves can be tedious, and people might like to start other games. Also, it's good sportsmanship. If somebody breaks your final stalemate line, you can just hand him to win there and then.
- If you care about survive-versus-defeat this gives you an extra option to throw a game to someone, or an alliance.
Let me know what you think.
