"Bringing in Billie piper was good, but no Amy pond??"
Feh, I had more than enough of her the first time around...not a fan of the Ponds or River Song...the whole pre-Clara era for the 11th Doctor is one big deluge of convoluted stories and irritating characterization so far as I'm concerned.
"4th doctor? Hasn't numbering changed now john hurt has played doctor no1"
He didn't, he played the War Doctor, after McGann and he regenerates into Eccelston, so either it goes 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 War Doc 9 10 11 or, if there is a change, it'd be to Doctors 9-forward...so the 4th Doctor is still the 4th Doctor no matter what.
It really WAS a stretch, Octavious...for the sake of silly Doctor Who science, I'll buy that all the Doctors can somehow make the planet pop into another dimension/place and out of harm's way (though it seems like that'd have solved a dozen or so other crises in the past) but I have to think the Daleks must have better aim and sense than Yosemite Sam if they're a threat to the universe...they just end up blowing each other up?
Probably the weakest part of the special, but if it means the Doctor didn't kill billions of people and Gallifrey comes back (I like the politics of the place in the old series...at least blowing up Vulcan in the new Star Trek films had weight and was done by someone who's SUPPOSED to be the villain) I can roll with it given the rest of the good things in the special...especially since it meant a cameo from Tom Baker (and I guess some are arguing if he's the 4th Doctor or just a Curator that looks a lot like him...I say he's 4 out of time, why not, they hint at it but stop short of coming out and blatantly saying it, so they're clearly trying to have a nice fan moment without starting a continuity war...and since other actors came back to play the role again when they were far older and had already regenerated...sure...he's just a super-old 4th Doctor retiring before he magically gets younger again or whatever...he probably needed a 100 year break from Adric or something...so yeah.)
