Okay, I reviewed reactions to my fake QT claim. As I said, my goal was to tell a story that only ghost would know for a fact to be wrong, in hopes that the reactions might reveal who knew for a fact that my claim was false. I wanted my QT story to suggest that I in fact did not have any access to the QT, so that the ghost would think that I was making it up completely. I expected that ghost would react in one of two ways: (a) suggest complete confidence that I was lying, or (b) show hesitancy to engage at all with my claim.
Here are my thoughts on the reactions:
VASHTA
❝ “Guys Balki is obviously the ghost...like this story is so stupid. Will tear apart soon”
❝ “**CallGM: can the people with the cell qt link it in thread”
❝ “**voteBalki this is so stupid. is Kaka still around, if not who was he replaced by?”
❝ “So guys...Balki is obviously lying. Who the fuck knows his QT username?”
❝ “seriously though no one knows Balki's Handle on QT...certainly no one alive in this game...”
❝ “GUYS YOU ARE ALL IDIOTS IF YOU BUY THAT BALKI INITIALLY HAD THE WALKIE!...Seriously his theory relies on someone else either randomly picking Harold Shawn as the name they will post as (aside from Ghosty McGhostFace or some other actual name) or something like that.”
THOUGHTS:
❈I initially thought Vashta’s reaction was downright ghosty. He instantly disbelieved my claim with confidence that seemed to betray that he had access to the QT.
❈As Vash continued, he started talking about this idea that the only way my claim made sense would be if someone randomly chose the same handle “Harold Shawn” as me. That showed a fundamental misconception with the QT. In the actual QT, both Kakarroto and I frequently changed our handles. We used names like “ghug,” “wjessop,” “Captain Coolguy,” and many others. Nobody who actually read the QT would make this mistake, unless they were purposefully trying to conceal their knowledge.
❈So either Vashta has not seen the actual Walkie Talkie QT, or he was doing a good job pretending that he had not seen it. I think it is much more likely that he just hasn’t seen it. He was steadfastedly in the “Balki is scum” camp of 1 before my QT claim, so it is not odd that he was confident I was lying. For Vashta to be ghost, he would have had to simultaneously fall for my trap and come out with confidence that I was lying, while also coming up with a clever trick that he thought I was lying for this reason that the ghost could not sincerely have. Very unlikely in my mind. I’m pretty sure Vashta is not the ghost.
RDRIVERA
❝”@Balki - If you are really telling the truth, you probably know that I can´t be the ghost. My English will just give me up if I post too much in a QT. I was Jailor once as scum and posted only small entences in the QT out of fear that people will catch me on my English mistakes.”
❝“I confess that at this point, I am having problems believing on Balki. If you had such a tie with Kaka why you didn´t said nothing before we lynch him/Glen?”
❝“I don´t think he can post the QT link as this allow people to verify his claim with outside info, I think he can quote the QT, but he could be faking it, we have to decide if the quote was believable or not.
Still, let´s wait for the GM ruling.”
❝“I just want to confirm that this type of QT works the way Balki told, you can choose the username on each message (I used Benevolent Captor when I was Jailor).”
❝“To be honest, I can probably write properly if I put the needed effort, I already published some scientific articles in English, but this is the type of effort I can´t do all the time I am writing, specially when I am on the phone.”
THOUGHTS:
❈It’s hard for me to move off my earlier ghost read of rdrivera, but I found his reaction to my test to be very towny.
❈His first thought was to consider that my claim could be true, and to reflect on what it might mean about his own alignment. That showed both an ignorance about whether my claim was true or false (consistent with not ghost) and a willingness to engage with my claim (consistent with not ghost).
❈He asked a good question about why I would not have disclosed the ghost imposter before we lynched Kaka. That seems like a good town process to me.
❈He made some concessions that might have implicated him more, but added to the discussion: (1) the mechanics of the QT were as I described them, and (2) he could manage correct English if he was trying hard.
❈I wouldn’t clear rdrivera as ghost, but I have to admit that his reaction to my test was not what I would expect of Ghost Rdrivera. I no longer think he is ghost. He is probably town.
DAMIAN
❝ “Alright. Lots has happened while I've been busy. Balki had a walkie-talkie rather than a gun. Thats interesting. Potentially useful too if we can get anything out of the analysis of the walkie-talkie chat. Of course if he was the ghost he could just make up whatever he wanted for walk-talkie chat. Depending on if the other walkie-talkie hold was dead. Really hard for us to know. Since the ghost on the walkie-talkie was reasonably active that pretty much clears Oztra.”
❝I think I buy the Balki-talkie claim actually….Claiming the other end of the walkie-talkie would be a big risk and if he's lying there are two people who could potentially counter claim him. Unless he already knows who both ends of the talkie are and they're both dead. Hmm... no I guess I'm back to being not sure on it. I think Balki is either telling the truth, or he's lying and knows there is nobody alive who can contradict him.”
❝“I think Balki is currently our best ghost bet. As Vash pointed out, the walkie-talkie story doesn't totally make sense. Why not tell Kaka the ghost was in the thread?”
THOUGHTS:
❈ Damian did not react immediately to my walkie claim, and did not seem to be in the thread, so it is harder to draw conclusions. It is possible that he was carefully considering his response before posting.
❈That said, he seems to have a pretty town process to me in his response. He suggests a couple of times that he is leaning towards believing my claim. Eventually that is overcome by skepticism about the fact that I did not mention the ghost imposter before the Kaka lynch. That all seems like sensible town process. And his reactions seem authentic. He seems like he is actively grappling with the truth of my claim. If he were ghost, this would be entirely manufactured. And while it is certainly possible to fake, my read is that Damian is being sincere.
❈I still think Damian is town.
ZORCLEX
❝”Ugghh. It's 5 am here. I need to get to sleep. I'm also going to miss EoD tomorrow, because it's Maundy Thursday.
But after a quick review of the past few ages alone, **vote Balki. He's acting crazy defensive, and his defenses make no sense. Glad I could help kill the ghost.”
THOUGHTS:
❈He has only posted one thing, and it was a substanceless hop onto an already loaded wagon.
❈Zorclex also says that he will miss EoD tomorrow/Thursday? Does that mean that he will actually be on at EoD because EoD is on Friday, not Thursday? Hard to know. Zorclex does not answer questions.
❈Zorclex is obviously not even pretending to care at all about this game. That could mean he is ghost, but who knows. I’m pretty null, and pretty certain that Zorclex should be mod-killed and not invited back to play.
OZTRA
❝“ok then. reading the evidence **vote balki”
❝“@balki well by what everyone else is doin, just wanna make my vote count and also other peoples evidence seems pretty compelling”
THOUGHTS:
❈Oztra had a vote down on Zorclex before my claim. His reasoning: “damo mate, i dont really see your case against me. just because i have not been doing this all day everyday doesnt mean that i am the ghost. you could be the ghost... nah probs not **vote zorclex.”
❈Oztra posted on the same page I made my QT claim. A couple of hours after my claim, after 3 pages of posts and a loaded Balki wagon, Oztra returns to the thread, plops a vote down on me, and says “ok then, reading the evidence **vote Balki.” Oztra does not respond to several requests for him to state the case in his own words.
❈Hard to distinguish this from bad/lazy town play, but this is very consistent with what I’d expect from an inexperienced ghost in responding to my claim. He seemed afraid to engage with my story because he alone knew that it was false for reasons he could not say. They, when he saw an easy wagon formed, he plopped his vote there. He could not explain the reasons in his own words. I think he is most likely to flip ghost.
SNOWY
❈Can’t be ghost. Seen visiting bosox, and rdrivera says he cleared Snowy of a haunt.
