Ivo, I have to say I think you are hung up on considering it the primary tournament so want it to be what you want it to be and not what it is.

Last season I won B1 and the fourth game went down exactly as you described.

Tantris and I were in the first three draws and the fourth game started late so everyone knew where everyone stood. Tantris and I had the same points but I had a few more SCs for the tie breaker. Tantris was Germany and I was Russia. I tried to make a deal with him to make sure we were both still alive for the fourth draw to remain in the top two. He decided to try to take me out. So I threw everything I had at him knowing I would be eliminated too. I got him out and then with my remaining couple of centers I had to take Austria out too as Austria was the only other person, short of someone soloing, that could overtake my position. I have to say it was a VERY FUN fourth game.

It was not at all a typical Diplomacy game. But it was still FUN. It was still using strategy and diplomacy to get what you wanted. The goal was just different from a normal game.

Oh. Yeah. 'D-level: 40 for first place' is such a small award that I completely forgot about it.

If I get top of my Group D3, do I go to Group C or is there any way to jump to Group B?
Also, what number in Group C would I be promoted to - or is that inconsequential?

Which Group C is inconsequential. And you could go to Group B from Group D if not enough people come back from this season to next. But hopefully that won't happen.

I have been trying to be in contact with someone in charge of the leagues for a while now. Can someone please tell me how I can go about getting a problem in our league solved? We have a player who has dropped out and we need a replacement.

surprising results for such high caliber games... i'm actually disappointed a great deal to be honest.

tex - why would France draw that game???? he pretty much has a solo in the bag - specially with so many stabs among the others.

I'm not sure I subscribe to this not winning the 1st game of the leagues theory I've heard mentioned before several times. To tell the truth, I'd be happy with any solo in any game, but maybe I'm not as skilled as those that can get a solo in later games so can afford to throw the 1st game. 1 solo could win if the rest of the games are drawn. Is it just me?

BTW, I was the only power eliminated in the 1st game of league A, so Crazyter's solo totally not my fault! lol ;P

Actually, one solo would lose to 3 three way draws that all had the same person and didn't include the soloist as the triple draw is worht the same number of points but the drawee would, in all likelyhood, have more SCs than the 18 or 19 held by the winner.

@Tex and Babak - I cannot speak for France, but we were all busy avoiding a Russian solo, and we have voted for the draw, with Russia and Turkey exception. When the game changes, with France with solo shot, Russia and Turkey voted for the draw and France didn´t have a chance to take back his vote, I guess.

Also, I will take a solo in any game if I have the chance, even if this means being gangbanged in the next ones.

Rdrivera +1 Yes that was my thinking exactly. I saw a rare opportunity and I took my chances. I know the target is on my back bigtime now.

When is game 3 starting?

I can probably take a big chunk of the blame for crazy solo'ing game 1. I was going to get killed off, so I thought that I should at least enjoy the romping around and talked with crazy and she let me kamikaze (and it was fun!). Then I got convinced to be a part of the draw line, and a draw was above a survival, so I took it. It was the miscom between G and E at the end that ended the stalemate, which was unfortunate. But she definitely never got a big target on her back. She's doing well in game 2 as well.

Bump. Should we just be starting Round 3 by ourselves in our leagues at this point?

i should totally claim responsibility for our(A league) draw, i messed up my support order, we should never have lost the stalemate line!!!

Also it becomes easier to solo in a later game if you appear to be a weaker player by losing the first few games (as i proved in the C leauges last season when i CD'd games 1 and 2 - due to my sitter falling through)

Lastly, as mentioned elsewhere, crazy is a jerk. I salute you oh Valkyrie of the south! Now feel the wrath of my many pronged stabbing stick.

Also note that game 4 will probably start in 2 weeks or so which was the original intended time between game starts. So hopefully the last two games will be played somewhat concurrently.

@Fortknox and Orathaic--Fortknox deserves no blame, he rightly held up the stalemate line after letting me think I was going to solo. Nicely done! But then I had it in my head that I could solo , so I took a CRAZY chance on taking Berlin, hoping Orathaic would believe my con that I wanted to Draw with him. Yes I was being a jerk! But Ora-did you believe my con or did you not believe me and just messed up your support order?

Well I expect to be in A league next time. I just hope Crazyter is still there as it gets my goat that I introduced her to WebDip yet she is so much better than me. :-)
