Pledge Allegiance to the Grind EOG statements: Austria.
My game started off well, with Italy not attacking me, and Russia issuing a misorder that cost him a center. Russia recovered, but got attakced by England/Germany, whereas Italy and France were engaged in some heavy warfare. Hey, this could end well!
My main ally was Italy, and my main enemy was Turkey. I didn't know how to deal with Russia. I grabbed Rumania when I could, just to get some builds. I hoped that Russia would be okay with the loss of Rumania if I helt my attack there.
In Spring 1904, things were looking good. Italy was occupied with France, but it didn't work out. Turkey was headed towards him with a couple of fleets, so he had to go back and defend. Russia was dying, and I was fighting with a Turkey who was completely unable to harm me (only two armies!).
Along came autumn 1904. I was set to move Ser-Gre, Alb S Ser-Gre, Rum-Bul, Bud-Ser, Gal-Rum for a long time. A solid attacking move, which might just hand me Greece. There were little risks, because a joint attack on Rumania was unlikely. But it would probably not work. Turkey had undoubtedly seen it, and he could just move Aeg S Gre, Gre S Smy-Ion, Con S Bul, Smy-Ion. A solid defensive move, no risks at all, and possible to enter Ion!
I decided to gamble, and try to counter that move. While I was at it, I could also grab Sevastopol, and move my army around the Black sea to Armenia.
My move backfired, I lost Serbia, and I never recovered. Had I done the normal move, I would have gained a center. I'm curious how it would have ended had I guessed right.
