@Onion I've also just seen that no one has yet replied to your question: according to the bot, only 2 people haven't yet posted - MelodicMethods and Ikaneko. Plus Vashta has only posted once, to basically say "Hi, I've been busy" and Spirit only once to say "Hi everyone", which was apparently translated as "Vote for me".

I'm interested to know why that all matters though? Does silence tend to denote something? I'd have thought it suggested lurking - hence why I originally posted to avoid looking silent - but then I basically got told I talked too much... So maybe being silent is just a way of avoiding my fate?

Tom does strike me as feeling really odd, he is way too certain of himself, though I don't know how he plays really because I've only played with him for <6 hours when he joined mid-game and got sked immediately. He's probably too experienced to make this kind of mistake as scum, he'd know it'd get him a lot of attention.

As far as Ogion goes, if he's a noob, I think posting in the thread the way he did seems very normal. I came on before the game formally started and probably would have posted before the game started for town too if he hadn't already.

Kench seems to be in the same boat as me, probably not scum, or at least not scum for being nice, jesus

I think I remember Bo pressure voting a lot before, he vote on me is fine, if he even remembers the way I play, I was really quiet and trying to fly under the radar as scum that game away. Probably town.

TrPrado's vote seems more odd, since I don't remember him pressure voting last game, but it could be that being nice is a big red flag to him, and I can see his logic even if he's off. Let me know if I can answer questions for you or anyone.

@Tom- Exactly, im confident that you are scum. You are scum, you are getting upset that I'm right and trying to deflect yet again however this time it's me your deflecting on. I don't care if you accuse me of being scum because aside from pointing out your scummy behavior and trolling ghug I really have no other traits that should make me stand out to anyone but you. And I only stand out to you because your caught.

My explanation for Ghug and Bo is that I'm not confident but my gut is leaning toward they aren't scum. There are things I'm looking for that I don't want them to purposely avoid so that I can catch them if they are scum. Unfortunately you tipped my gut toward scum and then brought up red flags. No one else really has done that..

Silence/lurking helps scum. Just because someone is quiet doesn't make them scum, but silence as a whole pretty much only helps scum. I mean, by nature people who post frequently are under more attention, so some scum try to fly under the radar. A key to finding them is find those who post when its "safe" or post a lot of words without saying much. That is more scum indicative that just volume of speaking.

Why is your Tom read so hedgey, Spirit?

Kench, do you have thoughts on any players' alignments yet?

I have a bad feeling about tom, but I don't know his meta at all, so he could be that way as a town player if he's just trying to put pressure on people. Everyone's reads should be hedgey, it's day 1 and there's literally no evidence to go off of.

Maybe I should clarify; when I say confident I mean as confident as any of us can be with no evidence and going solely on our guts and dialogue. That is to say I have to vote, and right now the only vote I'm comfortable with is you Tom. Now if you find me a reasonable alternative I can be swayed. It is Day 1

I really dislike Tom's criticism of Byron. OMGUS is one thing, and it's usually town indicative, but trying to undermine your attacker's credibility by using unrelated things that they say is pretty sinister. ##VOTE Tom

This is the first time I start a game, rather than entering as a sub I think.
And "Onion" always makes me think of a hattip to Davos Seaworth, which is fine by me!

Ugh, I hate the times on this blinking game. Uh, just right off the bat, I think the Spirit thing seems like the usual sideshow that happens with new people on the first day, but if it develops beyond that I will certainly be paying attention - I would feel suspicious of the people making it a bigger issue than it is, but then again town BB was the king of jumping to conclusions. Tom seemed a bit off with that whole "gut feeling has led you astray", which seemed patronising and didn't particularly answer anyone's queries. Even so, Spirit and Byron both going for Tom is a strange 'un.

It's day one, I can't say either way.

@spirit- do you have more reasoning for your Tom vote. I by no means intend to sway votes with my own and encourage everyone to be critical so we can be sure we aren't lynching a townie this phase. Also I'm not comfortable with people voting and no explanation that's why I have an explanation for my real vote for Tom.

@CB ... why exactly can't you share your reasons for your reads?

@Ikaneko Looking back, I've probably defended tom more than anyone else has, despite my bad feeling about him. Idk what this 'I'm going for him' business is, ghug and guak actually have votes on tom (and bo and prado did too before they switched to me) and I don't. I do have a slight town read on Byron because his accusations make sense where most other people's today haven't. But why are you lumping us together?

@byron I didn't vote tom, just have a bad feeling, I don't vote usually unless I have a good reason.

Ikaneko's first post really bugs me, he gives me a lukewarm defense and then insinuates that byron and I are "going for tom" when that isn't true at all, in fact, ghug and guak are going for tom along with byron, not me. It feels like he's subtly trying to manipulate opinion and form a provisional scum team, even convinced byron I had voted for tom when I hadn't. I could believe this as an honest mistake, but god it gives me a bad feeling. Plus the "Ugh, I hate the times on this blinking game. Uh, just right off the bat, [...]" feels very disingenuous, it seems like fluff someone who wanted to seem like they're confused or frustrated about things would post, so they can back out of them when they need to. Can he or someone else tell me if he's new or a regular player, because I feel like I posted this stuff when I was new scum.

Maybe you've played with Ikaneko before, if my memory is right we were co-scum once and keeping him from slipping was work. I'm not surprised by some confusion. But then against, I'm kind of the same mindset

Tom is the only one who seems scummy to me so far, but I can't tell whether it is because I'm suspicious of anyone driving hard against anyone on day one or whether I'm personally offended OMGUS style. Take with grains of salt

OB and Ogion are town. They are too lazy to read the rules and too simple-minded to try to pretend they didn't know the mafia chat was open.

Kench's first post is the scummiest I have ever seen. Definitely the case of a too scummy to be scum post. I think Kench is also town.

ghug's being ghug. If he is scum he will reveal himself sooner rather than later with a super scummy thing like he always does. IF he is town he will be useless the first couple of phases like always so don't pay too much attention to all the crap he talks early on.

Vashta is scum. He always does that weird anchor post and disappearing act when he is scum.
Tom is scum because he was buddying up to bo. It's a classic mafia strategy to defend someone like bo to gain his support and goodwill later on.
bo is scum because I say so. Seriously, no read on bo yet, he seems to be trying to emulate brainbomb. could go either way. If Tom is indeed scum, then bo is town. If Tom is not scum, then maybe bo is and Tom is just an idiot.
