NHL sucks
I honestly challenge anyone who obviously knows nothing about hockey to keep high morale when the refs are literally maliciously trying to throw the game. I've never seen worse reffing in a series, and anyone who doesn't realize these are humans that actually get effected when the ref delibrately tries to blow a series against your team, should realize that it makes your team feel like they are skating though glue.

You discover a map to buried treasure
There is a catch. While visiting neighors you find the map in the hands of their infant son. The treasure is likely real as youd heard of the map and its fabled promise. The problem is not just that a child is holding the map- its that the family desperately would need the treasure to pay off their debts or they may end up on the streets starving. However you also know the babys mother and father gamble, drink and are rather unsavory. What do you do?

Mafia 28: -JEBEDIAH'S WRATH-

@Ikaneko, I'm just trying to understand where you're coming from. There are a whole slew of assumptions implicit in your read on me, and I'd like to know what they are and why you hold them. I apologize wholeheartedly that I am so "lazy in my thinking."

I hope that we have not hit a roadblock. I still have questions for you.

❈ There are 0-2 guns and 0-2 fab guns that kill the person who fires it. If I'm mafia here, I would be delighted to see "guns" in the hands of townies. If a townie fires a "gun," the most likely outcome is that a townie dies (great!). It is also possible that the ghost dies (cool!). It's not particularly likely that scum dies. A gun is quite a bit less likely to kill scum than a lynch, for example, because there is a 50% chance the gun will backfire. For that reason, I don't think your assumption about mafia prioritizing me as a night kill makes any sense. But, in any event, I am fearkilled on N1 or N2 in almost every game I play as town anyway. So even if your poorly considered assumption were correct, it wouldn't matter much.

❈ I haven't the foggiest idea why you "believe the ghost would be more likely to haunt" me. I've dutifully read your posts again. I still am not wise enough to figure out what you mean. Are you really refusing to tell us all again? For what purpose?
Tom Bombadil (4023 D(G))

@snowy: You didn't ask me anything in particular. I just figured since you spend lots of time typing these long, verbose posts you wanted someone to respond to them, unless they are only for yourself to admire ;)

I don't have any insight or anything to add to the content of the rest of your posts, so I chose not to address them. You sufficiently answered my questions and I'm more than happy to move to something else.

Continuing on the topic or Ikaneko:

Yes, I don't think it's rational to out gun as a town day 1 either, but his reason for stating as much does not hold to scrutiny. Nothing says mafia would necessarily target the gun holder, and again the remainder of his ideas are somewhat incoherent but the gist of it is that he believes Balki is using the threat of his gun to put fear into anyone scum reading him. Mafia would hardly fire a potentially fabricated gun to begin with, and that hardly seems like a deterrent to begin with.

It seems to me that Ikaneko is coming to the right conclusions for the wrong reasons, which I interpret as someone who has been handed the solutions to the game and did not follow the natural progression of logic to reach those conclusions, not having been necessitated to. He isn't thinking about the game in such a way that someone who had no idea of anyone's identities would.

@Balki why are we still on the gun subject? Either shoot it now, after another gun misfires, or if you're on the verge of mislynch. That's all there is to it. Tell us about who you think is scum and town, not how confused you are about how you ought to use your item.

First Stupid made his "scum claim" and then a "withdrawal" from the game!

But last on page 4 he came back and tried to explain it with "My scum claim was mostly exasperated sarcasm, but I also thought it would keep DO talking long enough to explain how Oztra's play was so obviously devoid of potential scum motivation. My leaving the thread was mostly the same, I had to go to sleep anyway"

Are we supposed to buy this really? Come back and dwell a bit more on how exactly your presumably fake confession helps town. ##vote Stupid for now.

(Btw, an old error reoccured. 18 messages had been duplicated both on page 1 and 2 in the bot DB. Fixed so now 30 messages on each page.)

bo_sox48 Day-1 40:47 page 3 "@RHK ... can you go into detail about the ghost the last time it was used? I don't remember that game. Obviously, this setup might be different but it is important for all of us to know how the ghost acted then. Hell, maybe the ghost will try a similar strategy as whoever played the ghost that game. Never hurts to keep your eyes open."

@bo Please explain to us in what way town is helped by you asking this question about how the ghost should play his/her game. It seemed very much like you were asking for advice on how to play as ghost. Bo seems like a good voting alternative, but at the moment, I find Stupid to be the a better vote.

Past midnight here. Back tomorrow...
Also, Ikaneko, I visited the website of your non-profit charity organization:

http://thekaneko.org/about-kaneko/

You claim publicly on the interwebs to have a mission statement that "Creativity begins with an idea – seeing things differently," and yet your initial instinct is to lambaste unconventional play and assume the person seeing things differently is moronic or scum. Why do you assume that you have a monopoly on wisdom? Why don't you practice what you preach?

❈ Why does it seem like Ikaneko has reached the right conclusions for the wrong reasons? Are you saying that I am scum, and Ikaneko identified me as scum, but for non-alignment indicative reasons? Or, are you saying something else? What conclusion of Ikaneko's is correct, and what reasons are wrong?

##CallGM - you allowed stupid to hari-kari? what happened to playing to your win condition?
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

@Balduran … townies with guns should know quite well by now that their guns may not work and may kill them. Them acting like a vigilante instead of playing their role is irresponsible. Unless we have someone with a gun that is way too caught up in the euphoria of having a deadly weapon in their hands, the only people who would absolve themselves of the regular responsibilities of their role because they have a may-or-may-not-work gun would be scum. They’ll be lurking, waiting to see who emerges as a clear townie and making sure they aren’t under fire today so that they can use it as a weapon down the road when it is safer for them to risk their shot backfiring.

@snowy … I never said I was immune to early determinations. I just said that early determinations of me are useless. I didn’t say you couldn’t make one. You won’t gain any respect for it nor will it pick up traction because people know that a) I am hard to read regardless of my role, b) scum fearkills me as town, as is evidenced by last game, and c) if I’m scum, it will find its way out of my mouth at some stage. I appreciate that you look at me like I’m just anyone else playing this game but as far as reputation goes, I’m not.

As for me being old and wise, I’m surprised that you even asked me about it. Of course that applies solely to myself.

HR’s game is excellent. He plays with cockiness that gets people to throw attention his way, and then he uses it against them. If you think my game compares to his, I’m honored. I’m interested in hearing why Tom talked you out of the comparison between my game and HR’s, though, considering you openly admitted that you only had one short day of meta on me before, ironically, HR fearkilled me.

Could you elaborate more on DO? I wouldn’t be bothered by throwing some pressure her way with you, though I’m not exactly sure why I feel that way. I’ll reread her as well shortly.

@stupid … questions you find overflowing with ridicule are worth answering. Those are the questions you can turn against me. Those are the questions you can not only answer to defend yourself but also to investigate others. Leading questions, on the other hand, are ones you should not answer, but given that all I did was list out the possibilities for why you were acting the way you did and asked you to choose A, B, or C, I think you could have answered that one as well. Hopefully you wouldn’t have answered C, though regardless of what you answered I would suspect it.

I’m not voting for you, though. Lynching someone because they claimed scum is nonsensical. That isn’t to say that you aren’t scum dropping a WIFOM turd, but the idea of lynching or not lynching someone based on a role claim, be it scum, PR, or whatever, is dumb to me. I guess that is one of the ways my game has evolved since the earlier, dumber days.

[EDIT: stupidfighter is dead. All righty then.]

Likewise, Maniac and Ika jumping on your wagon was suspect to me. Voting for and focusing on an already pressured player this early in D1 is anti-town.

@Maniac, Ika … can you answer for your vote? Do either of you care that you’re pushing a lynch for a bad reason even though there are ample good reasons to do so (though maybe wait until later in the day)?

@Moscow … maybe I was too quick. I won’t argue with you there. Maybe the word “decent” implies less to me than it does to you. Does “decent” imply meaningful or does it simply imply that he is doing things the way he should do them early on? Obviously, as I have said, I meant the latter. Are we going to play semantics? Don’t say Oztra did nothing, though. He is a new player who made a read, justified it, and though there are obvious logical holes in his argument, that is something that I would call “decent” on the first few pages of his first ever game a hundred times over.

@peter … if I were the ghost, I’d be lurking. In fact, I would bet money that the ghost is doing just that. When I asked RHK that question, I specifically implied that the ghost will probably read your answer and refer to M20, which will HELP us find him. I played M20; I know the ghost was in that game. If I were the ghost, I would go back to M20 and read it myself, and that’s what I hope he does.

##GM NOTE:

Playing to the win condition is a key rule of the game, like any mafia game, however the pitchfork is an item that allows a player to self-kill. The self-kill is a legal action in this setup and the pitchfork was clearly listed as a potential item in the sign-up thread, game start post on pg 1, order of operations on pg 1, and it was an item used previously in M20. I, as the GM, and Brain as the Co-GM, can’t speculate on the reasons for why a player might use this item and how it relates to their specific win condition. If there is a concern that the item was used contrary to the win condition then that can be discussed after the game, but it is a legal action based on the potential item description and information that we have published about it prior to the game.

##VOTE Ikaneko

@Balki ... can we leave personal affects out of this game? That's too far.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
27 Mar 17 UTC
ND, committing suicide is a logical and would be a legal thing to do if continuing to live is more detrimental to your faction than dying. There was no chance of a) the pitchfork being taken over by the ghost or b) him being unable to investigate further and try to find mafia. While there was a possibility that he could have been shot, there was a very limited likelihood of that and committing suicide as a VT does not somehow "save a gun"; contrarily, it directs the gun toward someone else, while the pitchfork in essence acts as that gun would have. He balked on his win condition, 100%.
@Bo, perhaps you can. I, however, cannot risk googling someone's handle, finding an associated website, pretending like the website that comes up is affiliated with them, and then calling anything they do that differs from the mission statement on the website as a horrible contradiction.

I would think that you would endorse and celebrate this community endeavor of mine, considering that you give an award every year for "cooperation and efforts in community endeavors."

Funny guy. Pay attention to rule #3 on our forum rules. I'm not moderating in this game because I'm playing it and that would clearly not be right, but that pushed it in my opinion. As a player, though, don't do that. We had this issue in some long-gone game way back when where a player was asked to prove that he was on a certain train line at a certain time of day as an alibi. As a GM, I shut that down. It is not fair to bring anything outside of the realm of webDip Mafia into the realm of webDip Mafia.
