Suggested Map
I'd like to suggest a map to add as an alternative to the Classic Diplomacy, the Ancient Mediterranean, or the Global map. I found it the same place the other two were found. It's called "Canton Diplomacy", and it takes place in Asia.

In an anonymous, no chat, wta game Austria and Italy coordinated all of their moves. Also 2 of the 7 teams didn't turn up. Is it possible to register as 4 players. I'm hazarding a guess that all 4 of the players are one and the same person. Any thoughts from any forum members, nobody likes cheats, it spoils the games and devalues the website. Is this a common occurrence?

Tactical Sim
I think it would be a really great feature to be able to run a tactical simulation - set up the board however you want, enter moves for multiple countries and see them adjudicated. Basically to have the option of playing against yourself on your own board. I think it would be really useful, both for new players getting the hang of basic tactics and for veterans who want to see how various strategies play out over multiple rounds. What say you, webDiplomacy?

Thank you google search, still more consistent than Romney, just not viable because of his (I hate to say it) extreme stance on many of them. What kind of congressman would not vote for the war in Afghanistan? And to reiterate My view of RP, I disagree with his politics, however I do believe that he is the most consistent of the republican candidates. (except my boy Colbert(:)

I am against the war in Iraq, but who is really against going to war in Afghanistan? I understand being against it currently, it is a quagmire, but not going there would have been like not going to war with Japan in WW2.
Putin33 (111 D)
19 Jan 12 UTC
Considering the authorization was basically a blank check to go to war with anyone at anytime, it is a disgrace that more people didn't oppose it. The Taliban didn't attack the towers, so why go to war with them? It solved nothing.
NikeFlash (140 D)

The taliban and al Qaeda supported and sheltered each other. Germany did not attack us in WW2, we attacked them first. And no it did not give us a blank check.

Putin, I believe the consistency he is praised for is his consistent voting record when it comes to following a strict ideology on what the role of the federal government is. Ron Paul voted no on giving Pope John Paul II and Rosa Parks congressional medals of honor because it used taxpayer money. He proceeded to put forward a bill that every congressman would pay a few dollars instead, which was then shot down. His inability to get any bills passed, Putin, is because politicians care nothing for Law, and like the rest of society simply want to find the quick and easy route to everything.

Germany declared war on the US. Taliban offered to give up OBL to a third party, a panel of Islamist jurists. They weren't friends. Mullah Rabbani disliked OBL because OBL was an obstacle to gaining international recognition. If you recall, a Taliban delegation even visited the United States in 2000 and were negotiating a pipeline deal.

Mullah (Burhanudin) Rabbani (I'm assuming you're referring to him) was never a member of the Taliban; in fact, they recently assassinated the man. It is truly puzzling that you are bringing him up.
Tolstoy (1962 D)

And "Mullah" should be in quotes, even though (if memory serves) Rabbani was a seminary student way back when.
Putin33 (111 D)

Different Rabbani, this one's name was Mohammed, he was mayor of Kabul, and died prior to 9-11.

"Mullah Muhammad Umar, the head of state, was "elected" as amir al-mu'minin (commander of the believers, a title of the caliph) by an assembly of about 1,200 invited ulama held in Qandahar from 20 March to 4 April 1996. He apparently has the final say on all matters.18Subordinate to him is the Kabul shura, effectively a cabinet of ministers, chaired by Mullah Muhammad Rabbani, whose position is analogous to that of a prime minister or head of government."

Okay, try this article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2001/oct/14/afghanistan.terrorism5
They offered to turn him over to a third country if we proved his guilt (even though he took responsibility for the attacks) and halted bombings. In other words, they were not ever going to turn over their close ally.
Tolstoy (1962 D)
19 Jan 12 UTC
OBL initially denied responsibility for the attacks - an odd position to take for a terrorist mastermind who views death in the "Jihad" as the highest calling. The later videotaped "admissions" of guilt have been questioned as far as authenticity by a great many people, on several counts.

And the Afghans had no love for the "Afghan Arabs", who were obviously less concerned with the Afghan people - both in the war against the Soviets and after - than they were with their own aggrandizement. I think the Taliban was entirely sincere in their offer to have OBL tried by a neutral court (if they could've won a huge battle against a few thousand well-armed and highly trained Arab Muj to capture him, which I doubt). The Taliban just didn't count on the cynicism and hostility of the rest of the world being stacked against them in the court of worldwide opinion.
NikeFlash (140 D)

Let me guess your next claim: The Bush administration planned and carried out the attacks on 9/11. There is no doubt that obl and his terrorist organization planned and carried out the attacks on 9/11, not to mention the fact that he declared war on the west before any of this.
Draugnar (0 DX)
19 Jan 12 UTC
@Putin - you *claim* he flip flopped on all these things. Proof please? For instance, he never said that I saw that he didn't support or vote for the Afghan war. He said he didn't vote for the *Iraq* war. That is a totally different war for totally different reasons. He has been consistent on that issue completely. So please provide actual proof or what you consider proof of his flip flopping on all these other topics you claim.
Tolstoy (1962 D)

"Let me guess your next claim: The Bush administration planned and carried out the attacks on 9/11."

Bzzzzzzt. But thank you for playing.
NikeFlash (140 D)
19 Jan 12 UTC
But you do believe that obl was innocent? That is what I am getting from your argument.
Tolstoy (1962 D)
19 Jan 12 UTC
In my mind, his guilt is unproven but he is at the top of the suspect list. There remain a lot of unanswered questions (one of them being "Why would OBL praise the attacks but deny responsibility if he was really behind it?"), and I do not feel obligated to accept his culpability on the basis of "everybody says so". Unfortunately, my questions are likely never going to be answered now that the defining event of the 21st century has become "ancient history" and no one is particularly interested in digging into the details of what really happened any more (aside from the folks who think the Towers were brought down by explosives and the hole in the Pentagon was from a missile - theories I do not subscribe to myself).

http://www.thepoliticalguide.com/Profiles/House/Texas/Ron_Paul/Views/The_War_in_Afghanistan/

RP whining that we don't declare war while he voted for the authorization against anybody/everybody. RP constantly criticizes our involvement in wars and yet he voted for the most expansive, broad, and vague use of force resolution in our history. If you don't believe that's a flip flop then nothing RP does will be considered a flip flop.

RP on evolution:

http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/intersection/2011/08/29/ron-paul-doesnt-accept-evolution-as-a-theory/

RP on global warming

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCc5Gk1nops

He says it's a hoax above

http://pesn.com/2007/11/05/9500456_RonPaul_on_GlobalWarming/

Then he says respectable scientists have shown that man has contributed to global warming.

I'm not going through every single flip flop. I'm not doing your homework for you. You just challenge everything I say because it's me who is saying it.

Funny that you denounce Ron Paul's vote for the Afghanistan authorization and then cite an article on Eric Dondero (former Ron Paul staffer who turned on Dr. Paul after being fired). It was the insistence of Dondero and a few others in Paul's congressional office that was largely responsible for Paul's reluctant 'yes' vote.
Putin33 (111 D)
19 Jan 12 UTC
So what? Dr. Paul is supposedly a 'man of principle', Mitt Romney I'm sure has similar excuses for why he has no backbone.
Putin33 (111 D)
19 Jan 12 UTC
And since when did you start giving passes to people for being "reluctant" about policy reversals? Did that make you feel any better about Obama on the detainment bill that just passed? Give me a break. You only make excuses because you can never criticize Paul for anything. What a cult.
semck83 (229 D(B))
19 Jan 12 UTC
Putin, I don't think you can call it a policy reversal if somebody _privately_ opposed something and then changed his mind. A flip flop is coming out publicly for something and then changing your mind.
We should _want_ our public officials to go through a careful process, possibly changing their minds on things, before they come out.

Not that I'm a big RP fan, but I think the Afghan war one isn't totally fair.
