Non-full Games?
I have a group of friends, and occasionally we like to get a live game going. Sometimes, however, we are unable to gather enough people for a full game, even for the Ancient Mediterranean variant. Some sites allow for a rule change if there are less than seven players (6 players = no Italy; 4 players = 1 person plays as 1 power, the other three play as a pair; etc.). Is there any way to do that on this site, or are we stuck with trying to scrounge up players to fill the game?

How do you spot people who are playing 2 nations in an Anon Gunboat game?
I'm in a game where there are three nations left and two of them seem to be cooperating as well as avoiding any agressive moves, even when they would be good moves to make.

1. Netherlands- rich history, progressive in many fields. People in Netherlands are entrepreneurial and open-minded. My country of birth.
2. Germany- our neighbors and eternal soccer-rivals. By now the scars from the war have been replaced with appreciation for the hardworking attitude and ambition of the Germans.
3. France- beautiful country, beautiful diverse scenery and nice food. A common dutch saying goes something like "France is a beautiful country, just unfortunate the French live there".
4. USA- country that always stepped up the plate when somewhere in the world things go wrong. Their last wars unfortunately hurt that image a little.
5. Japan- unique culture and advanced society. Hardworking people, not at all as odd as you'd expect from their many crazy game shows. Also let's not forget sushi.
6. China- new world power to-be. Great diverse country with a rich history, and quite pleasant people, too. Still a long way to go though, especially when it comes to human rights. Great food, too.
7. Israel- controversial as it may be, the common enemy that Israel is for the rest of the countries in that region make the world a saver place imo.
8. Australia- beautiful, large country with kind people. If I reach the age where I want to have some room around me I would gladly live there.
9. Singapore- although its laws are a bit (too) rigid it's practically a western city in the East. Developed and stable, an example to many countries/cities.
10. Italy- for giving us pizza, pasta (lasagna in particular). Eating it right now.

So so true..
SantaClausowitz, don't be stupid. This is a topic of jest. I expressed my view that I found Israelis as ungrateful and rude and very threatening to non-Israelis, I expressed my view that I don't believe they should own the rights to Israel, and I expressed my reasoning. I never said kill them, I never said that they had anti-Semitic stereotypical traits, and I never damned every Israeli man, woman, & child to some eternal torment. I said I was mistreated there, thought they were rude and ungrateful pricks, and didn't deserve their land. When the IDF Kommando said he would talk to me to explain his side better, I agreed whole heartedly. Why? Because I am not so set in my ways that I am just going to believe every Israeli is the same and not one is different. You on the other hand, continue a Inquisition of hate against me, schweinehund. You follow me to jest topics to troll them. You attempt to ruin peoples day. You turn situations about to make yourself look like a better man. But you know what, Fotze, real men don't need to hold grudges and ruin a thread talking about people's world travel preferences. Real men know the difference between honour, and fool-hearted bravado. You too stupid to just leave a thread behind and enjoy future threads? Fine, but leave me alone-- I wish to discuss countries I may wish to go to some day; I have a life. Go post your own threads. Go find your own groups to discuss with. Find someone who cares. But no, not me. I wish to discuss holiday. So I will summarize. Get the fuck out, you racist, small minded, insignificant Fotze.
Funny, this

"I never said that they had anti-Semitic stereotypical traits, and I never damned every Israeli man, woman, & child to some eternal torment."

doesn't jive with this

"So now my response; fuck Israel and that entire nation of racist bigots. They are racist against Moslems, they are racist against Germans, and for fucks sake they are racist against non-Jews. Those bastards are unappreiative little bastards who deserve nothing of which has been given to them. Why should we make an Israeli nation? Because some bearded man in the heavens who only seems to talk to people of their race proclaimed that this desert was holy, and their, and that they should kill any non-Jews? What the fuck. We should not be helping these people. They are extremists, and racists, and bigots."

Yet when I say the same about your precious german people who killed 4 of my great grandparents, 10 of 12 of my great uncles and aunts (Siblings of my Grandparents), and countless cousins, stole my families lands and used my grandparents and great uncles as slaves (along with your second favorite country, Hungary) I am a "Racist" (funny I didn't think Germans were a race, last time i heard that it was from... well forget it).

You lecture me about honor when you lie about your experiences in Israel. You claim I attempt to make myself into a better man when you somehow claim some countries (those putin listed) have violent pasts and therefor are unacceptable when Germany, Japan, and Hungary are in your top five. You, as always, are the worst of hypocrites, living in some fantasy land where only you can judge entire peoples and nations for actions of a portion.

Fotzen
Oh nice, post one post from the prior discussion, leave the rest out your brilliant. What are you, British? American? Russian? Maybe I should blame you instead of Hitler for why I never met my grandfather's brother? Maybe I should blame you instead of Hitler for why my grandfather's father and mother died in the bombings of Munich? Maybe you are the reason that my grandfather had to restart a new after the war; no house, no family, taking care of a pregnant wife. So you are the reason why he had depression and flashbacks for the rest of his life, not Hitler. YOU MUST BE THE REASON WHY WHEN HE FINALLY DIED IN 2004 THAT HE WEPT UNCONTROLLABLY WHEN HE SAW A PICTURE OF HIS FATHER, NOT HITLER! You think you are the only one who lost in that war? Go fuck yourself you selfish ass! My grandfather never voted for Hitler, he never wanted Hitler, my grandfather didn't proclaim how great Hitler was in the streets! But you know what, he got Hitler, and look what happened! You think you are the only one who loses family in a war they didn't want. My grandfather lived mostly alone for the rest of his life. Father, mother, DEAD! Brother, DEAD! Wife and himself, TRAUMATIZED! You think your grandparents and great-uncles got used as slaves; my grandfather lost his entire family and fought for his life in a war HE DIDN'T WANT! I am pretty sure that classifies a slave, no? Being forced against your will to do something that endangers your life and your familys? I have not even want to answer your poll about me making up me going to Israel under how stupid it is. You don't want to believe it fine; that makes no difference on grounds of it happening.

To answer your second point, his reason for putting them down were BECAUSE of their violent past. My reason was because of their pride and culture. So go fuck yourself if you think the reason I like the countries I do because of how many people they killed or for what reason. That is a dispicable thing to like something for-- The loss of human life, something precious to all of us.
and by the way, I do not hate or even dislike Germans, I have been to Germany, my posts have been made to expose your abject hypocrisy, which it did quite easily. Murderous Socialist regimes of the past are unacceptable to Mr. Herr but murderous Nazi/Capitalist/Imperial regimes are just fine. And how dare anybody point the laughable contradictions in his statements.

My real 10 (to get us back on topic):
(and in order)

USA
Israel (after certain political changes or if I felt i could help enact them)
Netherlands (If I could learn dutch and could find an active Jewish community)
Britain
Canada (Montreal preferably)
Australia
Argentina
South Africa
Italy
Brazil

While I would love to visit or live shortly in places in the Far East (China and Indochina are on the top of my list), I don't think i can call places with such a different culture "home." Areas that experienced dangerous anti Antisemitism in the last hundred years are also disqualified (most areas of Central-Eastern Europe)
NO MUDEROUS REGIME OF THE PAST IS ACCEPTABLE! I NEVER PUT 'NSDAP GREATER GERMANY', OR 'FACIST HUNGARY', OR 'IMPERIALIST GREAT BRITAIN'! I REFER ONLY TO THE MODERN NATIONS! He praises these murderous regimes for how great they are! I do not such thing as a loss of human life that great is deplorable acts no matter who committed it!

Santa - to be fair, Germany wasn't very warlike until after 40% or so of them died in the 30 years war....that would tick off a population for a while. And Japanese aggression historically has been touch and go. Most of the time they have preferred to keep to themselves (though Korea has always tempted them)

My list

1) Germany. Its just something about the German people that I like. Industrious, economical, methodical, and damn good at sports.
2) UK - I love the history in this country and am psyched to be living there for a year.
3) Netherlands
4) Russia
5) New Zealand
6) Sweden
7) Japan
8) Taiwan
9) Thailand
10) Switzerland

In most countries, people sometimes shake their head and say "I've never seen our country in such bad shape." This does not happen in Germany.

My top ten:

1. United States
2. UK - my future adopted second home after six months living there in college.
3. Canada - Montreal is one of my favorite cities, Sunnyvale is my favorite trailer park.
4. Austria - probably the most beautiful country I'll ever visit.
5. ɐılɐɹʇsnɐ
6. New Zealand, like Scotland but farther.
7. Botswana
8. Spain, for being inherently lazy.
9. Portugal, down ol' South America way.
10. Kyrgyzstan, for being inherently difficult to spell.

Why Australia?

The racism just ends it for me. I'm a fairly active cricket fan and it kills me to see how Ausfucks, players and fans alike, treat non-white players from other countries. But I'll continue...

They live on a great piece of land with awesome weather (if you're into that sort), have a relatively high standard of living, have zero political enemies nearby, and are the most likely to survive after a nuclear war.

And yet they're the most racist, ignorant, genetically think, close-minded wankers I've ever had the displeasure of being near. It's all about the lowest common denominator with those idiots. If Canada had nuclear weapons and shit hit the fan, the ONLY place I'd send them is Australia.

They single handedly humiliated, subjugated, and destroyed their indigenous peoples. They offer nothing to the world in terms of technical or scientific advancement. They scream and cry and debate about immigration, conveniently forgetting that they're one of the best examples of what happens when immigration goes wrong. And they have open immigration into my country, meaning I can't avoid them and they take our jobs.

Also fuck their accents. They don't deserve to speak the King's English, let alone destroy it with all that God awful slang they've vomited out into the world.

And before one of you comes and says "I'm Australian or XXXX is Australian, you don't hate them do you?" Yes I do. Sure sure, I'm willing to guess that some of you don't fit the norm and are actual decent human beings, but in the off case that I remember you're Australian, I'm still going to be filled with rage (like I am now) and stereotype it directly at you.

So don't remind me.

I'm not Australian, nor do I know any Australians. I just find the country absolutely fascinating. For instance, in 1967, their PM just disappeared. Simply disappeared while swimming. Imagine if LBJ just disappeared in '67. Not to mention, just about every single animal living in Australia can kill you.

Most of the Canadians on here are so damned angry. I don't know what's up with that.

@ Kaiser, what country did I praise for their "murderous regimes"? You're just making shit up. What is your solution to the land issue? Do you realize Zimbabwe's programme is universally praised throughout its region, and South Africa has considered copying it? There is a massive disparity in the concentration of land. Either come up with an equitable plan or stfu.

Unlike many on here, I do not hate any particular country. Every country has its warts, but they all have something to contribute. It takes a real bigot to piss on a developing country with a brutal colonial history that doesn't have Swedish levels of human rights.

Sure Pauline Hanson won a quarter of the vote in Queensland, but that was years ago. Sure both Gillard and Abbott are racist assholes, but a large number people dislike both of them.

The australian cricket team is quite racist and unfortunately that is not really coveredin public, but at least John Howard was not allowed to lead the ICC.

Not all of us are racists, just a large number. And of course, who dumped them here in the first place? The English. And who else destroyed their native population? Canadians! You're all genocidal assholes (except for the ones I've met, they're quite nice people).

"My goodness, I don't really care. Tongue-in-cheek. Turnabout is apparently not fair play when it comes to Canada and their beer."
Yeah, I was being tongue in cheek too. I just wondering how you knew about Moosehead.

I've mentioned it before so I don't think it'll have much longevity now but I I believe your unabashed support for Mugabe is very misguided. Redistribution of agriculture was (and is) a very important part of African policy. However, Zimbabwean thuggery is an embarrassment to modern Africa. Mugabe is a criminal and should be treated as such.

Democracy should be a goal for Zimbabwe and Mugabe has made a mockery of it.
USA probably has better beer than Canada on whole. There is good in both places though and it is not what is most popular, that is for sure.
