I don't have much Mafia experience but I followed along last game (religiously) and was able to figure out what was going on. I'm looking forward to catching some scum! And yes I think we need to lynch someone today so that we get some information as soon as possible. I really don't see the advantage of waiting for Mafia to nightkill someone.

In a game with more people and more mislynches, there are more mislynches and we can afford to dedicate some to vig shooting his 100%-town reads. (arguably they aren't 100%-town though as maf can influence, but that's beside the point)

However, this game with only three mislynches, vig should definitely think twice before pewing, especially if they aren't a nightkill target

If there's no need to rush in with the vigilante action, which no one has made a clear case for, then yes it does make sense to withhold the vigilante shot until we have more informationm, and more discussion. Being trigger-happy helps no one, especially when the chances of killing another town are so high.

It's actually quite helpful talking it through. What other things do you look out for OB? I like your calm approach to this so far...

With a limited number of shots, I think the vig is best saving them for a time when we know more. If there were unlimited shots then a town-directed kill would be helpful, but that's not the case.

@wjessop - It's mostly because I'm pressure-voting thd, but if he suddenly becomes townier it's not like I can't change it.

Also, why didn't you ask Ghug the same question?

@All: I don't really think it is anyone's place to tell the vig what to do. They were randomly selected for the role and people are going to play it different ways. It may be very possible that the vig feels like they have a good lead day 1 and want to act on it.

We shouldn't try and put artificial restrictions on someone's play style. That being said the vig should know that most of day 1 is joke posting and fluff. Look at the first three hours of this half of these posts are jokes. So whoever they kill if they do kill someone better be based on perceived solid evidence and not just a shot in the wind, but that should be the case for any night cycle (including N1).

@Wjessop: If you look at game 8 it was pretty clear that GHUG did a litmus test during the first few hours to guage player replies. He is doing that again here. I agree that DL seems to be all over the place and have noted it in my records.

@DL: How do I know what you were joking on or not? See this is my problem with Day 1, people not taking it serious, we can get serious information on Day 1 and so far the record is cluttered with fluff. Either you are doing a GHUG like test on people to get replies (which if you are I hope you clarify later) or I can't take your votes seriously now because two of the three by your own admission were "JOKES".

@ghug: I won't engage with rude language so I'll take your question to be rhetorical.

@wjessop - The thing is, I'm not sure I want to tell you what to look for specifically that I think are hard and fast mafia tells. I don't want to advertise to the whole cast and crew here what I am looking for as far as what will draw my suspicion. That could allow the Scum to more consciously mask those tendencies. That's what they are trying to do during the entire game, mask natural behavior. It's exhausting and a good scumbag has to be meticulous. They can't keep it up consistently, and that's where you find them, they're human, they'll fuck up. In general though, just look through posts and see if you can find inconsistencies in logic, activity without direction or really saying anything, and overall just things that don't sit right with you. When you find something like that ask about it, if an answer doesn't sit right ask some more.

It turns out that upon rereading thdfrance actually did answer ghug's question, so will ##UNVOTE for now. Still don't like the joke post but they're no longer that scummy.

It turns out I won't be on for the last four hours of this phase and possibly a few others.

@DL: I'll go through your own posts with you.

Page 1: You begin by stating that Guak can't be scum, ok... you do know this is random right. It's possible Guak could be scum, but I do agree the probability is lower. You then vote for TVROCKS who isn't even in this game (Joke I presume). Then you ask some questions about Mafia roles. OB GYN jokes about your name and you say in all caps that you have been discovered (Another joke?) Then you vote OB for hedging and then you decide to stop joking, but you don't unvote OB.

Page 2: You come 'back' and vote thdfrance. You and Ghug then seem to concentrate on thd over his answers (which I think were strange). Then you do a Oo symbol which wasn't a really serious response and seems to be more spammy than anything. What did that contribute to the conversation? You then get involved with the vig shot debate.

Page 3: You continue the debate about vig shot. You then explain your votes. Here you mentioned that Ghug pushed hardest on thd not you. Additionally on this page you say that you only made one serious push and vote.

To clarify the question you asked me this thread is three pages. You joked for at least a page and a half more so than anyone else really. After you said you stopped making jokes you made a jokey symbol which didn't contribute to the conversation. These are the reasons I said you have been all over the place (for three pages) maybe things will iron out. I hope this answers your question about how you have been all over the place.
