Rightyo, I'm back I'll explain my split vote theory before I'm accused or anything like that, as a genuine early game option, and I'll let you all decide what you make off it.
Most games in phase one tend to come down to 2 players X vs Y. Both having a large number of votes Usually around 80% of the votes dictated with them, with a few lurky avoiding the limelight votes here and there. The logic behind this is if a bandwagon is started against a mafia early on by chance (As let's be honest it takes a pretty bad slip up to become suspicious day 1) the mafia will have to band together to try to save that person. Which in the longer term could be very suspicious when analysing voting patterns.
The down side of this is that it's very unlikely to actually hit a mafia. In this game, we're looking at around a 10% chance that at least 1 of the 2 will be Mafia.
My Idea of a split vote is that we vote for maybe 5-6 people early on. This doesn't have to be anyone in particular as Town shouldn't have any fear of getting Lynched, as they're not "Too" important in the grand scheme of things. As long as them getting lynched gives information, that's as much as they can hope for in the early game, as guessing correctly early on is nearly impossible. Maybe I'm just overly pessimistic, but that's just my honest view on the early game.
With having maybe 5-6 early game lynch targets, there is a much larger likelihood that we'll hit at least one Mafia. And the Mafia will find it a lot easier to swing the vote. should one of them be targeted. But that's what we want. We want suspicious switching.
A death for the greater good so to speak.
Getting more people targeted early on will also bring more people into talking, and possibly bring up more slip ups and information, the biggest problem in this game is successful Mafia Lurks who just manage to stay of everybody's radar. The more people that are accused early on, the more talking their is. Which is why I think a split vote is something that should be considered.
Tl:DR
2 Way vote gives limited info, and has low strike rate
Split vote causes lots of conversation, and can show suspicious switching, as has a larger likelihood of a mafia having lynch votes on him.
