Oh noes...the AIDS Researchers...
Just listened to Obama blathering about the AIDS researchers on the Malaysian flight. Oh noes...the AIDS researchers....suddenly this flight is more important than others, because of the AIDS researchers...

If it were just shmucks like you and I that had died…not so big a deal. But the AIDS researchers…oh noes…Anyone else think that every life is precious, not just the AIDS researchers….OH NOES!!!

The lights came back on, "Okay, is everyone still alive?" asked Vash.
"No," replied ghug, "LOOK!"
Three bodies lay on the floor. "Well, it seems all kinds of blood was spilt last night."
"Indeed," uttered Manic, "It seems one of these things is not like the other."
"A pity, it seems Chaqa was among the bodies, guess he should have played less suspicious."
"At least we know he's human" said ghug.
"Yes, and look, poor semck there, I liked him, really did. At least he died looking badass" said Vash, looking at leather jacket-clad corpse.
"Well, at least we got one scum." said ILN "Right there, in the middle." Vash fired into the corpse, to ensure the kill.
"Who was it?" asked krellin
"It was....UCLABB!" All the officials gasped in astonishment.
"I wonder who got him?" asked bo_sox.
"It doesn't really matter, what matters is that a scum is dead. We will resume will our enhanced interrogations." Vash once again picked up his shotgun.

CHAQA has died he was PETER RUSSO, A GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL
SEMCK83 has died he was TOPPER HARLEY, A GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL
UCLABB has died he was SLEESTAK, A REPTILIAN.

Well, that turned out better than expected. 3 kills is a heavy night though, and I guess it makes sense that one kill might land on scum. Nice job at whichever one of the Vig/SK took that shot.

Nice job, vig or SK. Less nice job, other one. Very un-nice job, mafia.

This is pretty good for us, uclabb was going to be hard to catch and now we have something to look back at.

I suppose we could try to dissect which kill was lizard and which was the other, but it's a guessing game either way. I'll go look back at uclabb right now to see what sort of connections he had, and I think at least a couple others should do the same. Now that we know one scum we might be able to search out the rest.

The ghost of semck rose slowly toward the ceiling. As the gathered officials and reptilians looked at it, they knew with a shudder that he had received the worst fate that could befall a government official: *he had died with unfiled papers still on his desk.*

uclabb - tried frequently to lynch me - I want to point this out
Uclabb had a lot of banter back and forth with Squigs...who died innocent

My initial review of Uclabb is rather unrevealing - unless you think he was trying to bus me/fake bus me - but obviously I can't offer an opinion on a matter involving myself.

He had minor exchanges with a couple others --

Semck would be a good start to either link to uclabb or clear.

Sorry to lose semck and Chaqa. Delighted someone hit Uclabb, it now gives the govt a chance. We have lost 4 good guys to Non-humans single loss. On plus side our power roles are still alive and kicking.

So, heavily-laden with confirmation bias, since his scumminess is confirmed, a summary of uclabb:

Uclabb opened up attacking Chaqa's joke and on Squiggs, and he's the one that got all insistent that WIFOM was a useful discussion topic. (I disagree)

He disagrees that there can be obvious last-minute scum tells.
He then says it's hard for scum to blend in early on, something that I think isn't quite true, but I suppose he had a point in that the scum have to pretend not to know anything, while the humans don't have to, but it's an empty statement in and of itself. He and Squigs take up most of the first two pages.
p3, he talks about the necessity of a town kill day 1, which I think was to solidify his town-status. It's a debate that I believe generally led to town-sided killing being better.
p4, he references my reaction to jokes as a potential case for killing Squigs, while at the same time saying that it's not necessarily a scum tell. (Seems kind of hedged to me.)
Maniac reads uclabb as possibly "haymaking" with the WIFOM posts. (Not entirely sure what that is, smokescreening? Something about needle in a haystack? @Maniac?)
uclabb then votes for krellin after pointing out "contradictions" and misreading obvious sarcasm. He calls his accusation of krellin one with "real substance"
ILN follows uclabb's vote onto krellin on the next page, citing his *human* instincts. (Maybe there was more to this than I gave credit to earlier.)

uclabb goes quiet for a bit, but we get some reads on him: Squigs on u: very slight town; ghug on u: lizard; PJ on u: unsure but agreeing (hedge?); semck on u:neutral.

uclabb posts a set of reads on page 9, near the bottom. (I encourage everyone to take a look at the actual post rather than my summary thing) calls squigs, bo, and y2k scummy, viable lynches, but insinuates krellin is a lynch target without including him in his reads'y list. Then, he clarifies his scumread on krellin and votes for him.

Chaqa reads uclabb as town, as well as Squigs, based on their arguments.

Squigs responds to being in the hot seat by arguing against uclabb's "evidence"

uclabb "respects krellin's roleclaim" and switched to y2k, encourages krellin to swap to y2s as well. (krellin was gone at this point, and didn't get back till after the deadline. Though unlike others, I don't think I saw him saying he was going to be gone.)

After Squigs flips, he agrees with ghug about Squigs being a viable target, though he says he preferred y2k and tried to argue for him instead.

Overnight, guak lists uclabb in the "slight scum category" semck lists him last on his scum list, leaning toward neutral.

Uclabb attacks the "avoiding a tie" line of reasoning for not wanting to swap votes at the end of phase. Posts the following list: page 18
"My scum list (most to least)

krellin
y2k
bo_sox
semck
Chaqa
Warden
ghug
ILN
PJM
Maniac
guak "

bo_sox puts uclabb 3rd on his scum list; chaqa list uclabb as neutral, but puts uclabb in his list of 4 scum, then corrects that to have Maniac over uclabb.

In case of his death, Maniac list uclabb as likely human, and then uclabb dies, shot by vig or mutant, we may never know.

If I had to link anyone to uclabb based on the past 72 hours, I'd say it's one of PJ, Maniac, or ILN. If he started with a bus/distancing strategy, then I'd have to say krellin or y2k.

I think the former strategy is more likely, but I think everyone should respond to the night's end before we start a witch-lizard-hunt.

Question: Do we want to reveal Doc-save? (other question - person does know if they were doc saved, even if they were not, right?)

I don't see any real advantage in doing this - and in fact possibly more harm than good at this point (misleading info, could have saved mafia, could have saved himself, could have saved townie...gives no real information at all) But we should clear the topic off the discussion board.
ghug (5068 D(B))
09 Jul 14 UTC
I don't think we should reveal docsave unless the person is actually saved.

As for the new uclabb info, what I'm getting from Warden's new info is that krellin and y2k are probably not mafia. I'm not really finding any positive links though, so I'm going to go back and reread myself.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Wow. Uclabb was scum after all. I'm almost disappointed that he ended up being mafia because I think he really put in a lot of effort into the opening discussions, but as I looked back to put together my scum list during the night, it occurred to me that uclabb was still posting but not with the same substance as the day came to a close. I also thought it was strange that when I discussed changing my vote away from Squigs, which I eventually did, he told me that there was no risk of a tie, when in fact there clearly was - if I switched from Squigs and made it 5-4 and someone else switched to y2k from krellin (or a dead BW) after the claim, we would have tied. While the intent behind that is questionable, I think he was trying to move away from Squigs as the case fell apart and by avoiding a lynch, he wouldn't be attached to him. It didn't work, and I wonder if that helped the vig/SK catch him. Great shot, whoever it was.

WD posted uclabb's scum list and I think we have to look closely at the names in the middle/slightly leaning town. It seems too obvious to list one of his partners at the very bottom, so I think that pretty much clears guak of mafia connections for now. He put krellin at the very top of his scum list, which definitely benefits krellin's case that he's got a power role, or at the very least town.

I'm disappointed to see semck go so early because he starts great discussions and always has good analysis. He went after uclabb pretty early on, not making any explicit accusations but getting the point across, so we ought to go back and look at his case as well as his reads because he clearly put a lot into them.

Chaqa was lurking, and he made all those ambiguous remarks (clearly we know now that they were in fact jokes). I'm not surprised that he's gone and had his play continued the same way I expect he would have been soon enough, but I'm disappointed that a former GM showed so little interest.

@krellin … as of this moment, I'm comfortably reading you as a power role. I believe you when you say you were role blocked, and being uclabb's top scum read gives me a whole lot of comfort in making that assertion. Hopefully we can get off each other's case a little bit today because we need to find another one of the scum, as we're still not ahead, though we aren't nearly as far behind as we were before.

I'm going to post some updated reads soon.
krellin (80 DX)

Anyway - let's get on to the analysis.

My updated reads:

Krellin: As Maniac said, a big question mark. Tons of contradictions during day one, then a role claim, which was apparently to save himself. Moreover, I don't know how many times he's claimed to resign to being lynched, and how many times he's apparently not cared. Yet he made a claim anyway, that he of course now claims was fake. I don't know what to believe. Townies are supposed to be prepared to die, but krellin's not, so he's potentially a very selfish townie, a frustrated power role, or mafia that's been unable to put out the flames since the opening. I honestly don't know, and there's evidence that points toward each one of these personas. Needs a serious discussion today (without the bullshit).

Ghug: I can't criticize his play so far. The case against Squigs wasn't brilliant but neither were the cases against any other players, though I'd be more confident if he'd been more receptive to Squigs' defense and unvoted. That would have cleared him in my opinion. Right now, slight town, and certainly a useful player to have around right now as we try to dig out of a hole.

Y2K: While he was the hot topic in the last 30 minutes of day one, he's been almost completely absent since. He put forward a reasonable defense during the night but didn't post much else. I'm also worried because, after Squigs made the case near the end of day one, uclabb immediately switched his vote over to Y2K, more evidence that he was trying to disassociate himself with a town lynch. This isn't a clear connection but it's possible, and given Y2K's lurking so far, I'm leaning slight scum, but only slight..

Maniac: If you are in fact a power role and a kill role, props to you. Even if it was a slip-claim, you made a great decision regardless of who you hit and we need you around right now. If you aren't a power role, I guess that post is working to your advantage, but I see you as town-ish anyway because you discuss and do a good job remaining flexible but not too reactionary, and it's difficult to balance between the two but you do it well.

WD: I still think he needs to continue to contribute more, but was better during the night so showing improvement. He can make a good impression on day two. Null read right now, but watching close as potential lurking scum.

Guak: He hasn't done anything to dissuade me from my original reads and uclabb isn't dumb enough to put one of his partners as top town. Moderate town right now.

PJ: Similarly to WD, he needs to talk more, and even if it's not a hard accusation, he needs to make sure we remember he exists. He stuck close to uclabb, though I'm not judging him too harshly on that because he wasn't alone, uclabb played well. Slight scum for now.

ILN: More lurking, and I was hoping my motivational talk would have fueled a big push during the night. It did not, and if his quantity and quality don't both increase significantly today, he'll tempt me into voting to lynch him. Scum read for now.
y2kjbk (4846 D(G))

Maniac is my super strong scum read now after reading back through.

What we see from Maniac is initially him yelling at others to post their suspicions and get their vote in ASAP, and...that's about it. He doesn't offer any list of reads on his own even. This tells me he's acting a part and doing nothing to analyze anything because he doesn't have to. He does get at me a bit then, and eventually onto krellin, with very weak arguments based on the zero evidence we all have on Day 1. His acknowledgement of Squigg's death bled scum to me, where he apologizes for leading others to vote for him, then declares his top two scum reads as me and Chaqa, both of whom are town. But now we get his final list of reads he offers up right before the day ends:

I think Chaqa, Y2, ILN are non-human
I think Bo-sox and Pj are Human
I have Ghug, WD and Uclabb are probably human
Krellin is a big fat question mark
Semck and guak I'm unsure about

Uclabb is nicely fit into the "probably human" category, and the non-humans are me, Chaqa, and ILN. Not much development on his views at all for this. And wait, it gets better, what's his reaction to seeing Chaqa and Semck go?

"Sorry to lose semck and Chaqa. Delighted someone hit Uclabb, it now gives the govt a chance. We have lost 4 good guys to Non-humans single loss. On plus side our power roles are still alive and kicking."

Nice job stating basic facts about the situation. You make absolutely no attempt to be affected by how rocked your perceptions of people should be by now if you weren't reptilian. ##VOTE Maniac

Is there a statistic? I want to know. In a game I felt I was playing with the stubbornness of a child. He/she wanted ALL his way. All the negotiation was "this is mine mine mine". He/she couldn't see the repercussions of a bad decision because he/she wanted the gratification of now.

Seriously, knowing the age of a person before starting a game or a negotiation can help a lot. Psychological speaking.
