At the most, that should lead to tasering. At most. There is no justification for killing him.

After getting attacked by police for obeying a policeman's order, I could expect that. Those guys are so power mad that common sense doesn't work and they attack if you can't read an officer's mind and do exactly whatever crazy thing he wants.
Hey, let's pretend like all police officers are exactly the same and we know what they're all about. When an officer tells you to put your hands behind your back, how are you supposed to know what crazy thing he wants if you're not a mindreader?

I'm not saying the procedures were proper or improper, because I don't know and neither do you. Internal Affairs is looking into it. I'm not saying the guy should have died. I'm just tired of people on the internet chanting about power mad cops.

You don't have to choke the guy, THM. He clearly had some sort of reaction to it that they didn't expect, but if you choke a guy and slam him on the sidewalk, do you really think it's reasonable to expect that you won't hemorrhage his brain or seriously hurt him? It's like the bully in middle school that doesn't know a kid has a condition and hits him the wrong way and the kid dies. It's not unheard of, so why the hell would you risk it?

You might not be saying the procedures were proper or improper, but I am. There's a video. Watch it. Thankfully you have a legal right to pull out a camera. Cops are so scared of you that they have to say things like "this had nothing to do with the fight, this had something to do with something else" to try to avoid getting in trouble. The police do a lot of good things for us but some of them are playground bullies and this is just one of many insane things they've done.
I did watch the video. Based on what I saw and my lack of knowledge about this department's procedures, I have no basis to say that the individual officers did anything wrong. I saw two police officers questioning a suspect, with him denying any wrongdoing. It looked like there was a time jump. I then saw him resist arrest, with several officers getting involved. One employed a chokehold.

Police departments have procedures for what they are supposed to do when a suspect resists arrest. That includes when the suspect is a big guy like this one. There are two issues: (1) are the department's procedures appropriate, and (2) did the officers correctly execute them? If this goes to trial, I'm sure there will be expert commentary on both issues. I don't care that there was a video; internet observers like you and me are not qualified on either subject.

I do appreciate that you qualified your comment that "some of them" are playground bullies. I don't think this situation is analogous to a middle school bully hitting a kid with a condition. A middle school bully hitting a kid is clearly in the wrong whether the kid has a condition or not. Police taking down a suspect resisting arrest *may* be in the wrong in their method, but they are not automatically so just because the suspect was injured or died.

It was clearly an accident, none of those cops wanted a death on their hands. That said, inproper procedure leading to a death - when you work in that position of responsibility you have to do the right thing or face the consequence.

The problem is less the death itself (though still horrific and meritorious of outrage) and more the fact that where in any other career, including the military(!), choke-slamming someone because you think they might be a threat and killing them = significant prison sentence and loss of job; but with law enforcement these incidents end with the offender getting a 2-week vacation (sometimes even paid!) and never going to court. I suppose it's possible that this time the script is different... I won't hold my breath on it

What I've Been Saying About Gaza:
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/israel-iron-dome-could-prolong-195600244.html Main quote inside, but essentially--the Iron Dome, which has (thankfully) stopped hundreds of rocket attacks in just a few days now, has taken all pressure off Netanyahu to negotiate, while Hamas arguably stands to gain more from prolonging the conflict--ie, shooting rockets knowing they'll be intercepted and reprisals will come--than by making peace. So, settle in, boys and girls...

Babak wanted to say "Hi" to WebDip
Babak asked me to say "Hi" to webdip on facebook. He is doing well, has a 6 month old baby, and just moved to a new country, but once things settle down, he might join us again.
So in the mean time, shape up your diplomatic and tactical skils and let's see who else we can drag back. :)

what is the average age of webdiplomacy players?
Is there a statistic? I want to know. In a game I felt I was playing with the stubbornness of a child. He/she wanted ALL his way. All the negotiation was "this is mine mine mine". He/she couldn't see the repercussions of a bad decision because he/she wanted the gratification of now.

Seriously, knowing the age of a person before starting a game or a negotiation can help a lot. Psychological speaking.

Best free webdesign software
I'm very likely going to design another website, but unlike last time, this isn't for school or something, so I can use all the tools I want to make my job easier. What software would you recommend? There's quite a lot to choose from and I don't want to try them all, nor spend extra hours because I'm missing some very useful features...

BNP Paribas extorted by US government for $9 billion fine
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this.

US crushed French bank even though it violated no international, or bilateral law, simply because trade is done in dollars. This is abuse of power and signifies that the US no longer upholds a free trade system. It will use the fact that trade is done in dollars to destroy people even if they broke no law.
