How Happy Are You?
I'm curious about two things.
First, how much time do you spend on webdip creating political and social discussions to reinforce your own bias among fellow webDippers? What's your deal bro? Second, how many of you are slightly uncomfortable answering the real question: Why are you so unhappy? (and why does webdip help that?)

I suppose he's not as bad as Crabb who claimed that Brexit would cause a repeat of the dislocations of '08 - which *did* involve a total GDP loss of 6.4% from Q2 '08 to Q3 '09. So, thanks for the correction and whatnot.

"I agree he's a fucking clown though. He has failed to meet a single one of his own targets. He's a failure by his own measure." - without context, i'd have assumed you were talking about trump... (or with only the context of the thread title...)
Lethologica (203 D)

Trump has surely exceeded most of the targets set for him by everyone who thought they understood politics.

the Democrats don't look as strong as they did earlier. This last month especially, Clinton has lost so much momentum. It'll be interesting to see if the Republicans can capitalize, though I'm praying for the broker convention Kasich over Trump

@ Putin

The (admittedly somewhat tenuous) Sanders link was because this is an American politics thread. The lack of posts from me about George Osborne and the EU referendum debate was because this is an American politics thread.

"Everything I said was embarrassingly wrong but it's somehow entirely your fault, here's some newspaper links"

Classic Putin :)

So, back to American politics. Is New York big enough to make this count as a super Tuesday?

Is this relevant? http://usuncut.com/politics/nyc-mayor-responds-to-brooklyn-voter-purge/

(I know total registered voters doesn't affect primary delegate count, more important for november... But still.)
Putin33 (111 D)
19 Apr 16 UTC
Quite a lot of registered Dems have had clerical errors about their registration.
Yoyoyozo (65 D)
19 Apr 16 UTC
Same thing happened in Arizona. A very large number of Democrats reported that an error occurred where their registration was changed from democrat to independent, or republican, preventing their vote from being counted.

Is it really that far of a reach to say that the primary election is rigged toward the person the head of the DNC supports and donates massively to?

Similarly, is it really that far of a reach to say that Hillary has the same access to Bernie's voter database that he did to hers for a brief time?
Putin33 (111 D)
19 Apr 16 UTC
It could be worse. They used to just ignore primary votes altogether. Eugene McCarthy won the majority of primary delegates and he lost on the convention floor. This whole primaries deciding the candidate thing is a fairly recent phenomenon. Presidential candidates have always been hand picked by state party apparatchiks.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
19 Apr 16 UTC
"It could be worse" is almost never an acceptable counterargument.

I don't care what has always been. The whole point of the Sanders campaign and the impressive political outcry behind his campaign is that what has always been is not what will always be and the time to change what has always been is now.

If I was a Yank I suspect I'd end up voting for Clinton with a heavy heart. Makes an odd kind of sense that Putin would be voting for the other guy.
y2kjbk (4846 D(G))

Clinton has a chance to earn my vote in November. I may write in Bernie though. It's really a shame how disenfranchised Independent voters are in America. They don't have a say in a lot of key primary nominating contests, but they effectively determine the winner in November. It's why we're locked in a lesser-of-two-evils situation in American politics.
Octavious (2701 D)
20 Apr 16 UTC
Disenfranchised how?
TrPrado (461 D)
20 Apr 16 UTC
"They don't have a say in a lot of key primary nominating contests"
That's how, Oct. a lot of really important primaries are entirely closed primaries, where independents are not allowed to vote.

I recently checked the adjudication tests, and it seems they list multiple options for rules for each situation. Each of the rules (ie 1971 rules, 1981 rules) has a different outcome for many of the cases.

Coup d'etat in Brazil
So, American politics have been extraordinarily exciting lately. But has anyone been reading about the concerted attempt to oust Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff? I'm curious to know if and how the issue has reached you and how the media in Europe and North America is portraying the situation.
